Pros: changable foils, pop trimmer, cordless or corded Cons: none that I know of
When my parents came to me asking for ideas of what to buy my husband for Christmas this last year one of the things I suggested was a new electric razor. I never thought that after they bought him one I would be this impressed by it!
Pros: 3 different foils, it does worth the money, does a good job. Cons: NONE.
I have been using this cordless shaver for a year now and I am very satisfied with it. My previous shaver was a Braun Micron (corded) that lasted for 20(!) years, so that is the ONLY shaver I can compare my new WAHL 5000 to. Here I have to add one ...
It seems like I have been a blade shaver almost forever. Every other week, I needed blades, throw away razors, or shaving cream. Yes, I did this for a long time. And, I have tried many different electric razors. Some seemed to work for awhile. I...
I received a Wahl 4000 (Paul Harvey) shaver for Christmas and thought I would give the following update. It gives a very close (the closest Ive ever gotten using an electric shaver) and comfortable shave using the close screen that came with it, it also came with screens marked very close and sensitive which I have not tried nor do I see a need to try battery life is pretty good, about 10 shaves on a full charge trimmer performance is average although the trimmer ergonomics are very good, I was expecting better since this companys core business is trimmers, not shavers though build quality is adequate with a 2 year warranty shaver ergonomics are ok it comes with a nice charging stand that holds your shaver and keeps is charged as needed, you can also mount the charging stand on the wall if you prefer its designed to run both cord and cordless as needed replacement screens and cutters are priced reasonably but Ive only seen them available at Sears and via mail order the travel pouch it comes with is skimpy also included a free trimmer that worked well...overall though a thumbs up for this shaver.
Pros: Provided close shave Cons: Didn't last beyond warranty period.
I bought this for my son about two years ago, having owned a Wahl myself for years. This was a less-expensive model, having no remaining-shaves indicator, but that didn't bother me much since the indication was usually inaccurate, anyway. He said it gave a pretty good, close shave, and the pop-up trimmer worked quite well while it was working.
However, now (shortly after the warranty period), the trimmer sounds like it's bogging down the motor. I disassembled the shaver, and it appears that the trimmed hair has jammed under a pivot in the trimmer, preventing the pivot from swivelling. The pivot can't be removed to be cleaned, and I can't find a replacement trimmer unit.
Additionally, the nicad battery is pretty much dead after two years, and won't hold a charge, so he has to use a cord now.
Although it was pretty nice while it worked properly, this shaver didn't work properly for long, and I would not recommend it for purchase.
Pros: It's Cordless Cons: Bad Shave..Cheaply Made..Slow Motor...
Hi
I bought this shaver based on customer reviews,,So much for trusting anonymous reviews.. First of all it's cheaply made.....Motor is loud and slow compared to good shavers...had to glue charger together with super glue... one head on personal trimmer was broke.......poor quality shave even with the closest head it's not close..actually pulls at whiskers so that it smarts....takes 15 hours of charging for a few minutes of shaving..It can run a lot longer than a few minutes but it gets too slow for any kind of shave...If this truly is the last American made shaver it's a sad commentary on what we are turning out......Try a Braun Free Control for a foil Shaver or a Norelco for rotary and forget this junk.....well the first shave wasn't too bad and it's all down hill from there... The blade gets dull after the first couple of uses....I really was psyched up to like this ...oh well 50 bucks wasted...
Cheap, shoddy, loud and rough by shouffrey ,Jun 09 '07
Pros: None Cons: Cheap and junky.
I bought this based on the fact my "Made in USA" Wahl clippers have given me years of reliable, trouble free service.
Upon removing this Made in USA shaver from the blister pack (not a good sign), the seemingly made in China charger self destructed while trying to plug its cord into the base. The included nose hair clipper is Made in China.
I used the "Sensitive" foil and it tore up my neck worse than a single blade disposable Bic. I could actually get a closer, less painful shave with the Wahl clippers.
