Fabulous Waffle Maker
by rojo60453 ,Jan 20 '06
Pros: Cleans up quickly. Takes about 3 minutes to make a perfect Belgian Waffle. Cons: None
I bought one of these last year. I have bought six more for gifts. My friends and family that I have bought them for are buying them for their friends and family. Simple to use, quickly makes a perfect waffle. BETTER than the restaurant. It is fun to buy different batters because there is such wide range of tastes. I enjoy Carbon's Golden Malted Waffle Mix the best so far. Great for family breakfasts. Took it to work one night, brought some fresh strawberries and whipped cream, cooked up a dozen of them -- each one perfect...they are still talking about it.

Had Two; Both now in Landfill
by nolainnkeep ,Jun 14 '08
Pros: Great waffles! Cons: Won't last!
I loved the wonderfully light and crisp waffles that my Waring Pro maker produced so much that I bought a second one so that I could produce them for my bed and breakfast guests twice as fast.
Well all good things DO come to an end. About 3 months ago, one of my makers disintegrated when I flipped one too many waffles. The upper and lower cook plates are held together by tiny screws through apparently not-so-heat-resistant plastic shafts. Today my second waffle maker met the same fate. Both are now awaiting transport to the nearest public landfill.
Shame on Waring for making such a wonderful product so cheaply. Come on guys, next time, don't be so greedy about your profit margin and spend a few extra cents to make a product that can stand up to normal wear and tear. I only used the makers 2 or 3 times a month and they didn't even last 3 years.

by akmiecik ,Jul 27 '08
Pros: Work great Cons: Not easy to clean
I've had one for a year or so and it has been great. The only issue is that the plates can not be removed for cleaning.

Tried once, tried, twice, three strikes your out!
by ohldy ,Dec 22 '07
Pros: Easy to use. Good customer service. Cons: 2 units plus one replacement all broke within a year. Product definitely faulty.
I purchased two units. The first unit quite working after 3 months. Customer service sent me a replacement. Within 6 - 8 months the hinge cracked on the replacement. Then a week later the hinge cracked on the other unit. So I went through three units in a year. Appears to be faulty equipment.

Good price point
by anexhale ,Jan 17 '08
Pros: Cheep for what it's supposed to do. Cons: Won't last and work when you need it to.
I received it as a Christmas gift from my son and found it fun to finally make pretty waffles. In the following three weeks, I made waffles for my wife and me maybe six times, and then it crapped out on me. I guess you get what you pay for. I'm going to return it to Costco where it was purchased and buy a better, although more expensive, one.

Heating element dies quickly
by aready ,Apr 29 '08
Pros: Makes a nice waffle when working Cons: Those nice waffles come at a high price
Hard to store
Bought the first unit Dec 07 as a gift. Heating element died at exactly 3 month mark. Replaced with second unit. Had the unit cranked to FULL POWER and would not cook a waffle. When you see the reviews from 2007 and 2008 you definitely see the trend. Why isn't Waring doing anything about this?

Broken waffle maker
by ulvenmj ,Oct 14 '07
Pros: The unit makes great waffles when it worked but now it is out of service. Cons: It broke after less than six months.
This waffle maker broke at the rounded end of the rotating waffle iron. I am looking into either replacement of the entire unit or a replacement part. We have had it for less than one year.

good for 3 months...
by jbswifty ,Dec 27 '07
Pros: Good while it lasted! Cons: Made in China...get the point?
We had used this style of flip-over waffle maker in a few of the Choice Hotel motels where we stayed, and sought to purchase one of these units for home use. We were very happy when the WMK300 arrived and started cooking waffles 'way too often.
We really enjoyed the quality of the Belgian style waffles from this unit, but then one day (and of course we had relatives over for breakfast!)we plugged it in, and voila, NO HEAT. When I researched the reviews of this product on the internet, I found numerous other occurrences of this sudden will-not-heat failure. So BEWARE, and save your receipts as you will probably need them to return your unit when it happens to YOU.

professional pretender
by sofarsogood ,Dec 28 '09
Pros: Looks like it will make a great waffle. Cons: Heating is not as even as I would have liked. Element burned out quickly.
Can I have a waffle like the ones at a hotel breakfast buffet? The WMK300 has a great name, a great manufacturer, and a great design. The hidden truth is that it is only pretending to be a professional waffle maker under all of the stainless steel and teflon. I love the waffles at major hotel chains. They are thick, crispy, sweet and very bad for my waistline. It takes a high wattage iron to create a crisp texture and even appearance. The Waring design is exactly like the professional ones in design. Under the design, the electronics are clearly lacking durability and power. We purchased a WMK300 from Costco. The waffles were definitely soggier than those at the hotel. I checked the wattage and compared it to ChefsChoice iron that I had--what do you know? The wattage was lower. After about 10 uses, the iron stopped working. We exchanged it, but had the same thing happen a month later. If you really want good waffles, go for the W150. It has the durability and power to recreate those hotel waffles. One more thing--Carbon's Golden Malted mix is the one that they use at the hotel chains. You can buy it at Amazon.com.

no comparison - worth the extra money
by sherilaine ,Aug 15 '05
Pros: easy to use, consistent performance, easy to clean!! Cons: NONE
"I don't know what you were making before this but they weren't waffles!" My husband summed it up - now, with this waffle iron and the same recipe my waffles are unbelievable. It's very easy to clean and very easy to use - no learning curve. The only problem is the recipes included in the guide book - they are far too complicated - any waffle recipe as long as you separate the eggs will work fine. If you are going to make waffles at least once a month and are going to make a nice recipe - then this is what you need to make it worthwhile.

Waring WMK300 Waffle Maker Does Not Heat Up
by badwaffles ,Sep 24 '07
Pros: Made five waffles Cons: Will not make more than five waffles before it dies
After using my new Waring waffle maker (about five waffles total) it no longer heats up. Needless to say this is a big problem. We tried different plugs and are sure it's not our fault - just the fault of a terribly made product. Definitely getting returned and not purchased again. Buy at your own risk.

Professional looking not professional quality
by pharmaexec ,Mar 01 '08
Pros: Looks professional Cons: Large, takes up a lot of counter space. Cheap plastic will crack, had electrical short
Cannot tell you how good the waffles are with this unit as I never got that far. Took the unit out of the box and followed the instructions for first time use. It tells you to turn it on to preheat it before brushing on oil. Brushed on Wesson Oil and closed it. After sitting for two minutes I rotated it and there was a spark from the back of the unit and the fuse blew. Tried it again same thing. It would heat up fine and as soon as I rotated it, a spark and the fuse blew. Also when you open the lid the hinge is cheap plastic and you have to be careful not to lift it too much or else the plastic will crack. You can tell this by slightly lifting it too far and you can see the plastic starting to bend. Obviously if someone with a strong hand opens it too far it will snap. So this is not a professional unit and is false advertising. It is professional looking but a cheaply manufactured unit with plastic hinges.

Systemic Problems with WMK300
by charzard01 ,Oct 20 '07
Pros: Consistent heating throughout the waffle. Cons: Less than 1 year of minimal use and will no longer heat up.
Like other reviews, the WMK300 no longer heats ups. It was a good product for the short period of time that it did work. Consistent heating throughout the waffle and easy to use, however a bit bulky to store.
