Pros: It works Cons: Squeaked like crazy at first, smallish bucket, loud fan, 500W

Do not buy! EXTREMELY LOUD!!!

Pros: nothing Cons: LOUD, NOISY, HEAVY to move
I originally purchased this model dehumidifier in June 2003. I was very disappointed with this dehumidifier because it was so loud. Whirlpool sent 4 service technicians to my house, and also mailed me a new plastic water collection tank. None of the techs were able to permanently fix the loud noise of the compressor or the vibration of the water tank. Eventually, Whirlpool sent me a replacement dehumidifier. After two months of operation (still somewhat noisy), the noise came back rendering the dehumidifier useless. I say 'useless' because if it was running, people could not hear the tv or talk on the phone in my finished basement playroom/office. After seven more phone calls to Whirlpool, I eventually convinced them to give me a refund so that they could study this unit's 'faulty design'. Then, I just purchased a Soleus Dehumidifier, model CFM-40 (only $149 online). It is WHISPER QUIET!! You hardly know it is on. What a relief compared to the nightmare experienced with this Whirlpool unit ($205 at Lowe's). Beware of Whirlpool's design.
