Pros: Low Energy with AcuSense, quiet, large load capacity, adjustable racks Cons: Poor rinse aid indicator, racks could slide better
Whirpool has a good reputation for their dishwashers and based on Consumer Reports they are a good buy. The GU2500XT does everything as advertised but offering several features at a price that is highly competitive. The unit that I purchased does not ...
Pros: Does a great job cleaning dishes. Quiet. "AccuSense" wash cycle has reduced wash cycle time. Cons: None
My wife and I purchased the Whirlpool GU2500XTPB (B=black) dishwasher 3 1/2 months ago to replace the 20 year old Whirlpool dishwasher left behind by the previous homeowners, which by the way was still working but was very noisy and probably less ...
Pros: Flexible racks bottom and top Cons: Noisy, poorly designed silverware basket, poor cleaning of same, styling unoriginal.
Ahh, where to start. I guess a little background would be in order. I've lived in my home for 40 years now, my parents built the house and we moved in when I was about 10. I just installed our 5th dishwasher. Initially we had a builder's grade 1965 ...
Pros: Pretty quiet, intuitive control panel, well designed racks. Cons: Design issues.
We replaced a builder-grade dishwasher with this model. We reviewed another leading consumer publication for ratings first. Then we talked to a local distributor with a good reputation. We bought this dishwasher because we were told it was very very ...
Pros: very good at cleaning, relatively quiet Cons: upper rack can be difficult to reinstall, rense aid dispenser indicator hard to adjust
I bought the Whirlpool Gu2500 because I wanted to upgrade from the builders grade model that was in the apartment. I paid $439 for the unit and had it delivered the next day. I didn't want to pay for installation, so I did it myself. If you decide to do ...
Love new whirlpool dishwasher by fatherofteens ,Jan 03 '07
Pros: Quiet, large capacity Cons: Doesn't unload itself
Have used 2500XTP for about a month and it is great. Replaced an old Whirlpool (by the way, when your old dishwasher starts making a loud noise--replace it. Waiting until it is completely dead allows the leak into the motor i.e. cause of the loud to noise--to continue to leak on the floor where you can't see it!) with the 2500. It can hold any dish we have and does a great job cleaning. It takes a long time (90 minutes) to do a load as it washes and then allows the dishes to soak before it starts washing again. Gets everything very clean. We have found the machine to be very quiet.
We bought the machine at a local appliance store. He beat the big box stores by a lot--hurray for the little guy!
Pros: The machine has always ran smoothly and we have never had a problem with washing. Cons: With the racks rusting away we get a lot of rust spots.
We bought a Whirlpool dishwasher and the lower rack started rusting out after only a couple of years. I wrote them about it and they said they were concerned about customer problems, just before they said tough luck. Now we are going to replace it and I will think long and hard before buying another whirlpool product.
Pros: Works great, lots of features Cons: Motor doesn't last much longer than a large box of soap!
We replaced a whirlpool that did a fine job and lasted ~15 years. So we went out looking for something similar. This unit has nice features and does a wonderful job of cleaning dishes but after six months the motor started having a bad bearing noise. Motor was replaced. Here we are 1 year later and now Whirlpool won't back this motor. With this lack of reliability I can say goodbye to Whirlpool products!!!!!
Love this dishwasher! Exceeded my expectations by mainemom1 ,Feb 21 '05
Pros: Cleans beautifully every time! Cons: None
This dishwasher has exceeded ALL of my expectations! It is replacing an old GE that I thought I was happy with until I saw what a GREAT job this one did! It is easy to use, looks great and has many great features! I would highly recommend it to anyone!
Whirlpool GU2500 I love it by clamqueen ,Aug 25 '05
Pros: Movable racks Cons: Non that I have found!
I just replaced a kitchen aide dishwasher that was less than a year old. (My electricians shorted it out when they were working in the house). This machine is so much quieter than my last one and all the features are wonderful. You can move the utensil tray from the door to the side, the top shelf moves up or down, racks can be moved. I just love it!
Worked for 5 weeks, Then... parts on backorder... by bins ,Jul 19 '05
Pros: Cycle choices, Cons: Broke after 5 weeks, silverware tray, not that quiet
The interior configuration is pretty good for loading. But after owning for 5 weeks it broke. The cleaning light blinking and wouldn't reset. None of the options would work, Of course it was full and ready to be run. Not in the troubleshooting section. Died wednesday, whirlpool sent repairman on friday. He was expecting part in on tuesday to come back and repair. Lo and behold the part is on backorder. Not a good sign. Awaiting part status and down a week now. Would not recommend.
Pros: Very Quiet and stainless steel look is very good. Cons: clean light blinking after 3 months of use. Waiting for service person to check.
The new whirlpool dishwasher came with our new home which is 3 months old. It was cleaning all dishes really well and was quieter than lot other dishwashers in the apts we lived. Last night when I started the dishwasher as I usually do and checked back after an hour. The clean light was blinking for a long time. Later I opened the door and the dishes appeared to be dry and I closed it back but it was blinking when I checked in the morning. Called Whirlpool Service and they said they have to send a service person to check that and he told it might be the heating unit that may need to be replaced. waiting for the service guy. Will update later.
Pros: Cleans very well and has a lot of nice features. Cons: Definitely not quiet enough for us.
My husband and I wanted a quiet dishwasher. After looking on the internet and several stores, we decided to give the Whirlpool GU2500 a try. Although it has many nice features and wash cycles, it is NOT quiet. It is like "any ole dishwasher" that you can get for a lot less.
Our kitchen is next to our living room and we had to shut the kitchen door the night we got it while we watched movie. It was too loud for us. We were going to try to put more insulation around it but decided it wasn't worth the hassel. With this being their highest quiet lever, Quiet Level III, I expected it to be more quiet.
Luckily H&H Gregg will take back your product within 10 days. We returned it and now have a Bosch SHU43C06 and it is very quiet. It is their lowest quiet level but it is A LOT quieter than this whirlpool.
Bottom line: If you need a good dishwasher and don't mind noise, get it. If quietness is a top priority, don't.
It cleans nicely, looks good, but is very loud. by whirlpool2500 ,Jul 18 '05
Pros: Nice appearance, cleans well Cons: Much more noise then expected
We have been very disappointed with the amount of noise this unit produces. Both Consumer reports (which rate this a BEST BUY) and the salesman who sold it to us failed to fully depict the amount of noise this unit produces. there are much quieter models on the market.
While it cleans very well and looks good in our kitchen, we would not get it again due to the noise factor.
My "dishwasher' does not clean dishes, and the motor and pump went out after 30 days of service. The Normal cycle usually leaves the dishes dirty, while the Economy cycle does better.
It defaults to Heated Dry, so that your energy company will be happy.
Door is difficult to close. Installation is difficult because the tub has no stability - like trying to level a beanbag chair.
