Pros: Nice HD image; good sound; lots of inputs Cons: Awkward remote; no built-in DTV tuner; picture disappears during forward and reverse VCR scan
Let's face it, after two generations of living with bulky cathode-ray tube (CRT) televisions, anything with a thin, flat-panel screen is very sexy. New models of flat-panel plasma and LCD TVs are coming on the market daily and I wanted to try one out in ...
Pros: The picture quality is outstanding, and it also works great as a computer monitor. Cons: The aspect ratio instructions are not as clear as they should be.
I tend to think of dishwashers and refrigerators when I hear the name Westinghouse, so I was surprised to see that Westinghouse had an LCD television. Nevertheless, there it was at my local Best Buy, and it was a nice looking HD TV. It was also six ...
Pros: Great picture, good sound. Cons: Audio/video sync issues
I purchased this tv and found that the picture was fantastic, to the point of almost being unable to distinguish between HD and non-hd. As I started to use the tv, however, I noticed a huge audio/video sync problem, most pronounced on live broadcasts, ...
Pros: Cost
Picture Quality
Weight
Connections (2 component, S-video, composite, coax, computer VGA) Cons: No DVI
Remote does not control output audio
No front/side composite inputs
I just picked up this TV today. I got it for about $1300 from Best Buy. Picture quality is outstanding, especially HDTV. Picture is sharp and crisp. Hookup was easy and pretty much idiot-proof. I hooked up to my digital cable/HDTV tuner using the ...
Two returns and we've moved on to a Samsung by aepyle ,Jul 30 '05
Pros: Nice picture, nice simple frame, light (good thing since we had to set up twice!) Cons: Sound will send you running back to your old TV.
The picture quality seemed decent, especially within its price class, but the sound is simply awful. I have to think that many others reviewing here have surround sound systems and do not rely on the internal speakers at all. The sync was not only off, but on occasion most of the sound would come out of only one speaker, with some muffled out of sync coming out of the other. We assumed we just had a flawed unit, took it back, and had the same problem with the second one. Don't buy if you can't test your unit out in the story, particularly on complex stereo sound from a DVD (try something with rap music in it, for instance).
You get what you pay for--HDTV resolution w/ flaws. by wmjaeger ,Dec 03 '04
Pros: Sharp w/ DVD input. Nice sound. Cons: Image quality fair, bad antenna and cable input quality.
This was and probably is the cheapest of the 26 and 27 inch LCD tvs, and Consumers Reports is probably wrong putting it at the very bottom of their ratings. But the contrast isn't as good as other units costing more, and this was noticeable viewing under different light levels. I think it's easy to get spoiled looking at a plasma tv first, which has beautiful blacks, but the Sony and Panasonic versions were clearly better. There was also a feeling that the electronics were barely keeping up with the image--if you rewind a VCR while watching, the screen goes blank! Yes. It's not a terrible set, but if you can swing a few hundred more, you might consider the competition.
Great HDTV entry level TV by webtalking ,Dec 28 '04
Pros: Price, picture quality, easy initial setup. Cons: remote, menu features have me confused
I'm happy with mine even tho I'm still struggling with the remote menu functions after 2+ months. All my friends ( none of whom are videofiles) are impressed with the PQ, and with my HT sound system it's terrific. I have it hooked up to a Comcast digital HD box ( 30+ HD stations ) and a panasonic prog scan DVD player.
My dilemna is do I move it to the bedroom and put another larger LCD in the living room, or buy another 27 or 30 for the bed room. The prices seem to just keep getting better. This set goes for a hundred less than I paid and for another hundred less there are refurb 30" models available now with the DVI connection.
I'll probably wait out another round of price cuts.
Pros: relatively cheap in the world of HD TV's Cons: you get what you pay for -- it's cheap because it's no good.
this tv's quality has amateur written all over it. The picture quality is extremely poor on non-high definition channels, and the sound sync is way off. In addition, their manual did not include a contact or a website to help with the myriad of problems we encountered.
Pros: Price Cons: No universal remote or code for TV. No DVI or HDMI port.
This HDTV is not a bad choice for the price. It's comparable with other HDTV's out there on picture and the price can't be beat for a LCD. The remote is not universal and the TV doesn't have a universal code yet, according to Westinghouse as of 1/5/05. This means you have to use the Westinghouse remote for TV functions. Also, there is not a DVI or HDMI interface on this TV. This will not matter if you are using component ports. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase I made.
