The only proper description of the Phaser 6250 is WOW!!

by jstrickland , Nov 12 '03
Pros: Fast color and b&w speeds. Quality consistent color. Very user friendly.
Cons: None, as far as I'm concerned.
Back in May of 1999 the QMS Magicolor laser printer our company had been using went belly up. Other than the fact that it was going to cost a pretty penny to replace, this was no major heartbreak for us. It was slow, hard to maintain (The toner had to be ...

6250N - Fantastic workhorse & trouble free

by grennric , Sep 25 '05
Pros: Fast startup, LCD display, clear sharp color graphics, fairly economical (for color)
Cons: photos are so-so at best
My company received these printers as a 'bonus' for renewing our lease contract on our large multi-purpose (B&W) machines. WOW - what a deal! We were using HP ink jet printers for color previously. These machines rip through job after job effortlessly ...

Good quality prints
by yannick ,Mar 09 '05
Pros: Very fast print, great quality, "affordable", easy to install, web interface.
Cons: -
It is the first laser color that our company purchased. I used to print newsletters on slow end of life inkjets, a true nightmare.
This printer was a breeze to install on my network, I love the web interface that you can access anywhere on the network so see the current status of the printer, get info on who prints what, get some stats on the amount of color used per print job and copy.. Also links to Xerox web site for purchasing new toner. Really cool stuff.
The print quality is really good on plain paper, or laser paper. Thick card stock also works well using the manual feeding tray. In one year there was only one paper jam.
The toner are very easy to replace, they are placed on the top of the printer. The video on the Xerox site was definitely a big help in making the purchase decision for this printer.
Even the low ink warning is on for a specific color, you can still print hundreds of copies before you run out. That gives plenty of time to order new ones.
Bottom line: I love it.

Jammers check the firmware upgrade
by mmzd60 ,Dec 21 '06
Pros: Beside the jamming issue, we can't complain.
Cons: Just the jamming issue that the firmware corrects
I discovered that there is a firmware upgrade fo the jamming issue that relates the fuser roller speed.
Check the Xerox site for this upgrade.

Jam prone
by mcondos99 ,Nov 22 '06
Pros: Duplex printing is nice... when it works.
Cons: Constant paper jams. Expensive to operate. Wrinkles cardstock.
We bought this printer for pre-production press work for our company's catalog. Worked great for about 6 months. And then it started jamming. Now every time it first prints, the printer emits a loud "whining" noise followed by the inevitable paper jam.

Learned my lesson. Will now stick with HP. Our HP4000N has been around for almost ten years, cranking out page after page with no problems.

The only color laser printer in our office.
by seagoatleo ,Aug 30 '05
Pros: Fast print speed, good color rendition, good paper handling, excellent cost/page among other positives.
Cons: Prefer higher resolution prints; however, slower printer and/or substantially increase the cost.
I agree with the comments of the last two reviewers. We have had no problems in the past two years with it. We have used it to print appraisal photos and color documents (as well as B&W text) for about 50,000 pages to date.

Otherwise, no operating problems and good output, particularly full page prints (3 X 5 from 5 meg. photos can vary, often somewhat dark or too saturated with decreased resolution-we realize this is not a state of the art machine or ink jet, just a superior color laser jet to the competition at the price).

Xerox Phaser 6250: Significant paper handling flaw
by color_laser ,Feb 02 '04
Pros: Could not get past "cons"
Cons: Unable to handle card stock (weight greater than 160 gsm)
After much research, product samples, reading many reviews and correspondence with Xerox support staff, I decided to purchase the Xerox Phaser 6250 to use for printing greeting cards, postcards, business cards and similar items requiring a heavy card stock of 160 gsm or greater (approximately 65 lb. cover stock or greater). Xerox rates the capacity of the Phaser 6250 at 216 gsm (approximately 80 lb. cover stock). Unfortunately, after using this product, I learned from actual use, and had this confirmed by Xerox technical staff, that using "any paper that is 160 gsm or heavier may cause severe curling of the paper. We recommend changing the paper to a lighter paper-weight". I cannot over-emphasize the severity of the paper curling. This renders the product useless for printing items such as business cards, greeting cards, postcards and some of the other in-house printing jobs for which one would purchase this product.

This is a significant flaw which Xerox confirms. Do not purchase this product if you need to print on heavy-weight card stock.

Spend a little more and buy an HP
by curtg904 ,Dec 12 '05
Pros: Good quality print
Cons: Jamming, expensive parts, picky about paper...
We've been using this printer for about a year.

It constantly jams and has done so since day one.

It is very picky about the type of paper you use.

It is NOT as fast as advertised.

Is it a DUD?
by drp4 ,Oct 19 '05
Pros: Quality, Speed
Cons: Jams, Errors
My company purchased this printer about 7 months ago. Immediately after the purchase we were very happy with the quality, color & speed. Now, 7 months later, I would never buy it again. For the past 3 months we've been getting more errors and jams than I could mention. In the seven months we had this machine I now have FOUR (4) repair calls to them. I asked their rep if they normally have this many problems with this machine? He informed me they have different problems but...I may have gotten a "DUD"! When the first tech came out to work on it, he told me the parts are getting cheaper & cheaper.

It's amazing, my Canon Pixma 4000 inkjet never has a problem. But then again, it did cost $1,400.00 LESS!

xerox 6250 color printer review
by mcr1962 ,Jun 13 '06
Pros: Learned lesson on this machine, eliminated Xerox from consideration for our 40K copy/printer purchase.
Cons: The 6250 sits in my office on a dolly, taunting me......
Purchased a 6250 to give Xerox a try in an office dominated by HP products (35 HP printers). The printed worked for a short time then began having failures. Only one service center in Cleveland fixes Xerox so repair charges were high. Motor drives for toner cartridges failed and estimate was $500 to repair, then we were told motors were not available. Contacted Xerox, they said I should have purchased a service agreement. I indicated that they should provide a performance agreement for this item. No resolution. Purchased a HP 5550 and all is well.
