Pros: Hammer-action keys impressively implemented; awesome MOTIF sounds; customizable voices; expandable; connectivity.
Cons: Yamaha's infatuation with reverb may lead you to modify some of the voice presets.

Summary: You will come to find that not all weighted-key synthesizers feel the same. Not all pianos feel the same either. But when it comes to simulating that essential piano feel, Yamaha has certainly hit upon something certainly worthy of attention in ... read more

Pros: Built like a tank, feels like a piano, and has 100's of sounds.
Cons: It is hard to grip because of the angled sides on the front.

Summary: I bought this rig about 1 year ago. I had been searching for a weighted keyboard replacement and was on a strict budget. I've had a number of different weighted controllers before (Fatar, Roland A90). The main problems I've always had have been ... read more

Pros: Great sounds, flexible and easy to navigate.
Cons: Not many, no sustain pedal included. Brass Sounds could be better.

Summary: Yamaha is back in the Synth game and has produced another fine instrument the S-90 on the coat tails of the S-80 with great results. I paid $1600.00 for this keyboard. I was a little tentative at first because I liked the S-80 so much before. Once I ... read more

    May 29, 2003 by

Pros: This is the best Synth on the market by far and I'll tell you why
Cons: Piano sound is not as good as the Clavinovas or the new P250

Summary: I bought one at Guitar Center on Memorial Day where they had a special Memorial Day Sale. So I got it for $1,499 with a stand, case, and pedal. I bought it because it has 110MB of sounds built in. Look at all the other Synths out there and even with all ... read more

  • Best piano feel

    Jul 20, 2005 by

Pros: Feels like quality piano, presets are great sounding, ready to perform live right-out-of-the-box
Cons: No sequencer, heavy and large, wood bottom and ends

Summary: It feels just like a "real piano" and it's grand and bright piano settings sound very good, it's Vintage Case (Fender Rhodes) preset is incredible, and if you've ever needed that Wurlitzer sound it's here. Clavinovas are very usable, and the preset organ ... read more
