Pros: Sound quality, storage space (1.5g), equalizer settings, strong FM tuner, "leather" carrying case Cons: No voice recorder, sports armband, small learning curve for controls, no protected WMA support
I bought this product brand new on eBay for $182, plus $8 in shipping for a grand total of $190, making this device one of the best sub-$200 mp3 players that I have seen or used. I did a lot of research both online and in stores while looking for a ...
Pros: Great FM tuner, nice sound quality. Cons: No firmware for downloads. Poorly designed feature controls, no case or easy way to carry.
I purchased the iRiver IFP-390T last year and was blown away by the sound, features and ease of use. The only thing lacking was more memory. Then I saw the IGP-100, and based on my positive experience with the other iRiver product, I bought it because ...
Pros: Great size/capacity ratio, lightweight, well designed controls Cons: bad quality carrying case, SNR could be better, mine doesn't actually work
I currently have in my possession a $250 1.5GB portable hard drive that does not play mp3s. It will, however, play from FM, but I can't change stations and the darn thing cranked the volume to the maximum level (on its own) and won't let me change it. ...
Pros: Sound quality, options, controls, connectivity, storage, FM tuner, pretty good carrying case. Cons: Small text in some menu screens, bad manual, no voice recorder or FM recorder,
I bought this at my local Best Buy for $200 after rebates, and so far, I have been extremely pleased with it. For a long time, I have wanted a good MP3 player, but I didn't want to decide between a cheap, low-capacity solid state memory player (which ...
Pros: Plays Ogg Vorbis files, sounds great, good user interface, nice accessories included. Cons: Battery is not replaceable.
I picked up this player at Best Buy for $150 (after rebate) after doing research on Ogg Vorbis-aware players. Vorbis sounds much better than MP3 or WMA, and my entire CD collection is ripped as Vorbis files so I wanted a player capable of playing them ...
Pros: Small, pretty good sound, good case, good design Cons: Head phones it comes with stink, SECURE WMAs DO NOT WORK ON THIS!!!
So, I got this great mp3 player (so I thought). Right when I got it, I ripped my CDs into mp3s and put them on my mp3 player. That worked great. Once I downloaded a song from Musicmatch, I realized I had a problem. Musicmatch does not support my ...
Pros: FM tuner, 1.5gb, great desing, easy to handle with just one hand, bright backlid screen. Cons: the good for nothing case, and the color.
This is a great buy for under $200, i mean the iPod is good but it cost alot of $$$. I will recoment getting this, only if you don't need more then 1.5gb. If you are looking for a great mp3 player and don't want to spend more then $200, this is the one.
worth buying (especially with a $50 rebate from Best Buy) by chocolate001 ,Dec 20 '03
Pros: Small, rechargeable battery that LASTS, easy-use, good sound quality Cons: Slightly expensive, 1.5GB is overwhelming, unless used for more than just music files.
Let's start with the aesthetics. It's small, light-weight, has a cool back-light and has all the info needed on the display screen. The sound quality is great, unless of course you are looking for THE BEST sound quality. Uploading files is easy. The interface is well designed and easy to use. It is great for those who need to listen to music while exercising. The inputs are all accessible even when you are running with it, (I know from personal experience, once a month...maybe twice). Overall, a dependable, durable, lil' bundle of mp3 madness!
Decent Player for the price by orbiteleven ,Jul 01 '04
Pros: OGG vorbis support, good price, light. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE Cons: Flaky hard drive, awkward to carry/store while doing activities, difficult navigation.
I have to admit, I have had some problems with this player. That being said, I'd still recommend it for someone who needs a medium capacity player at a good price.
I have now owned three of these players, as two have gone kaput. The first I took back to the store, the second I sent to iRiver. I'll take this opportunity to commend iRiver on excellent customer support. Basically, they mini hard drive in the player is a little flaky, and I happened to have two in a row with problems. The players worked for a couple months, then just stopped working. Both times, they were replaced without much ado.
The controls could be better, and the player needs a real belt clip.
It may sound like I have had more problems then pleasantries with this player; I have not. This has been a good player for working out and mountain biking. I'd recommend it to anyone
Pros: Light size
Large Display
Software not necessary Cons: Real Reliability issues
bad support
Controls difficult
I got this in January of '04, and had to get it replaced 3 TIMES in the next four months, for various reasons (one crash, one electrical issue, one bug), and getting it replaced was a real issue, as the customer service has much to be desired. I swear this must have been a beta model or something. So in the first four months of owning this, I maybe had it my possession working maybe 3 weeks. The one I've had for the past 6 months has not given me any problems.
The controls were a real issue. It took me a while (after I actually had time to play with it) to get used to them. They are still a problem, as you can just as easily go into the wrong menu as the right one.
Also, I've had some issue when having it hooked up to my Mac at work. Seems to really go slow. No real problems with the PC at home, tho.
Great MP3 Overall... Needs a case! by bachman_n ,Jan 01 '04
Pros: Great size, large amount of memory, easy to use, looks cool, great sound! FM tuner! Cons: No functional carrying case!!!!! And you can't record direct from the FM tuner.
This is my first MP3 player and I am just getting around to figuring it out. The size and weight of it are perfect, the controls are fairly easy to figure out (even if you don't read the book). The sound quality is awesome and you can download songs from your computer in no time at all. (It took much longer to transfer the songs from my CD's to the computer than it took to download them to the IGP).
My biggest complaint is that it doesn't come with any type of armband or functional case to carry it with. The case that does come with it has a loop on the back that would be perfect to slip an armband thru... so why not package it with one??? I probably will go to the accessories section of iriver's website and purchase an armband for one of their other mp3's to use on this one.
My other complaint is that it did not come w/ any software for uploading/downloading music. (However, Windows XP already allowed me to copy from my CD's, so I guess that it isn't a big deal).
Pros: 1.5 gig drive, long battery life, FM tuner Cons: Bad instructions. No good way to carry the player.
Pro; 1.5 gig drive, long battery life, FM tuner
Con: Received as a gift this Christmas. My first impression was that the manual was incomprehensible but after a little study, I was able to figure out most of the functions. The controls are not as intuitive as the manufacturer suggests they are however.
Still, I think it would be something anyone could eventually manage.
My biggest concern is: "How do you carry this thing?" It's an expensive little toy that is supposed to be carried on your person while doing all kinds of activities. Yet the case it comes with is cheap, offers no protection and has no convenient way to secure it so your $200. toy is safe.
The player we have been waiting for. by kreft ,Oct 20 '03
Pros: SRS Surround : OGG Support : Size (Small) : Capacity/Size Ratio Cons: Cannot record from FM : No transcoding software included.
This player is worth every penny. Unfortunately the webpage offers very little info about it, but after purchasing the unit at Bestbuy I am more than pleased, the sound quality is superb especially with the inclusion of user EQ settings as well as SRS surround. (Like the DFX plugin for Winamp) I paired it with sony MDR-EX51LP headphones and the result is an amazing experience with your whole audio collection (yay for OGG support!).
