Pros: Compact, longest lasting standard battery, easy to use software, best sound, and most rugged. Cons: I wish I purchased the 1 GB model!
I have heard many FLASH MP3 players. iRiver' 512MB iFP 795 has the most neutral, clean and open sound of any player FLASH or Hard Drive player I have listened carefully with Sennheiser HD600s or Sony ear buds (read below). The programming is a ...
Pros: Sound, quality, display, size Cons: joystick, no expansion, slow transfer when using the USB Mass Storage upgrade
This is one of the best sounding flash player that I have listened to. It has many different EQ settings, including a surround sound option. The depth of the sound is adjustable, and with a good set of headphones is pretty amazing. It is also one of ...
Pros: Incredible sound! Great FM radio. Small size, long battery life and 17 hours of music! Cons: For men: small armband. Confusing directions. Non-user friendly software.
I started running a few months ago. I wanted an MP3 player so I could run to my favorite songs. Trying to decide which MP3 player to buy was worse than choosing a digital camera! I tried to prioritize what I wanted to do with the player and with that ...
Pros: Excellent sound quality, incredible portability and durability, useful special features Cons: It can take a little while for someone to learn to use it
I did extensive research on mp3 players before choosing this one, and even after purchasing it, it still greatly impressed me. The iRiver-795 embodies the qualities I seek in a music player: 1) Portability- It's about three inches long and one and a ...
Pros: Sound, quality, display, size, FM Cons: required software is a bit of a pain (but works fine on Mac or PC).
Ok, I've owned a number of mp3 players, and iFP 195T 512mb version is simply elegant. Perfect size for any activity. Sound quality second to none (less one comment below), screen navigation control is as good as it gets (it's a tiny screen after ...
Pros: compact and lightweight
easy to use
doesn't need special battery Cons: lousy earbuds
limited compatability with other music software
when downloading music, battry power is used
I bought this mp3 player a couple weeks ago and I am pretty satisfied with it. I like how compact and lightweight it is. I can put it around my neck with the accompanying cord and have my hands free. I like that it uses a standard AA battery. This might ...
Pros: Excellent quality product, robust, very stylish design. Cons: Must install "Music Manager Software". Records in a .REC format. Costly.
Everything about this product is great except my experience with the following issues listed below. 1) I must first install the iRiver Music Manager software before attaching this Product to a computer running Windows XP. This detracts from one of ...
Bought it at Circuit City on 2/19/05 for $149.95. Includes $20 rebate. IFP-795 (512 mb) must be purchased between 2/13 and 2/19/05 to qualify for rebate. Awesome sound. 3D effect is great. There are several EQ settings, and you can set your own ...
Pros: MP3 Player, Voice Recorder, FM Radio, Line-in Recorder. Graphic equalizer, set presets. Excellent sound. Cons: Line-in only converts at a maximum of 96 kbps.
Out of sight! It has four major functions: MP3 Player, Voice Recorder, FM Radio, and Line-in Recorder. Plug line-in into a headphone jack (to convert tapes, albums, etc. to MP3s). It uses a joystick and mode button to move between functions and to choose songs, recordings, radio stations, etc. The joystick is a little tricky at first, but after using it a few days, it becomes easy to work. The audio quality is excellent for all functions. The earphones are a bit crappy, so replace them. And I was a little disappointed that I could convert my tapes and albums at the highest rate of 96 kbps. 128 is the norm. However, the converted tapes... still sound very good. Just make sure you have the tape or album volume turned slightly lower than you like when you convert them. This recorder does so many things there isn't space to talk about them all. It has a graphic equalizer. You can set presets. You can determine how it places the tape and album conversions onto the player. Lightweight and durable.
Best flash MP3 player on the market! by hey_dijon ,Jul 13 '04
Pros: Small size, excellent sound quality, long battery life Cons: No UMS support out the gate, it's not cheap ($250), no AM tuner
This small flash memory MP3 player is the best of its kind on the market because:
1) it has excellent sound quality (with a 90 SNR & 18 milliwatts of power)
2) it's skip-free (you can run, bike, jog, skydive with it)
3) it has an FM tuner
4) it can record voice, FM radio, and any other line-in device (MD player, CD player, TV, PC)
5) it can display different languages
6) it supports USB 2.0
7) it supports mp3, wma, and ogg
This player is also aesthetically pleasing and has a laundry list of different configuration settings (equalizers, scroll speed, etc.). And with 512MB of space, you won't have to re-load mp3's onto the player for a while.
It also comes with a nifty stretchable sports arm band, a necklace-type holder, usb 2.0 cable, and a case (made of plastic) for the actually player. The biggest surprise was that the sennheiser headphones are actually useable. Lastly, the battery life is awesome - a minimum of about 20 hours, with a maximum of 30ish (depending on how you use it). A must buy for serious mp3 listeners.
Pros: Software was easy to use easy to transfer songs. Nice small form factor Cons: You could not play any songs-just look at them. Non-existent product support!
I bought this device as a birthday gift for my 13 year old son. I have an iPod and love it but wanted something smaller and more sporty. I found the software easy to install and use. We were able to transfer all of his music CDs onto the device with no problem. However, we could not get the device to play any of them. We could see them but not play them. We could listen to the radio just fine but we could not play any songs. We sent emails by the dozen to iRiver since there is NO 800# for support and all emails went unanswered. We took the device back to the retailer and they could not get it to play any of the songs either. Their comments indicated that this was not the first problem of this type with an iRiver device. I was able to return it and get a Rio instead which works just fine. I will never buy an iRiver product again. Worst product support I have ever seen.
I got this about 5 months ago.It was superb.Great battery life, great sound, great size, good FM tuner and voice recorder.I lost it about 4 months ago.I looked everywhere for it.I recomend this product to people who are NOT serious music lovers.4 months later I bought a Ipod Video. It is great.I recomend this product to people who are serious about there music. It's about 50 x the amount of memory. They are both great mp3 players.
Pros: Superb sound; extremely portable; great battery life. Cons: None that I've found yet.
I've owned a 10gb hard drive player for a few years and wanted something a lot smaller to carry to work. This iRiver has met and exceeded all my expectations. The sound is superb, it's easy to use, seems well-constructed, and I love the battery life. The 512mb memory suits me fine for commuting and office use; I just swap out the songs every week or so.
Very Happy Customer ! No problems so far. by mvlac ,Jun 29 '04
Pros: Looks, sound, controls, display, battery life, included accessories. Cons: so far i really can't think of a way to improve this player.
I purchased this about a month ago directly from IRiver's website as it hadn't hit the retail stores yet and i've been extremely happy with it so far. It looks good, sounds amazing, and i couldn't be happier. i've taken it on two long distance business trips, i've used it in the car with the optional cassette adapter and both my wife and i use it alot while exercising and NO PROBLEMS. AT ALL. WITH ANYTHING. the arm band works very well. The controls are well laid out and fairly intuitive. It didn't take any time to learn to work the controls without looking at them.
The control lock switch is a great feature. The display is very easy to read and displays alot of info. Battery life has been excellent, downloads are fast, and the included software is very easy to use. The player CAN be recognized as a removable drive with firmware upgrade (see www.iriver.com).
Sorry if i seem TOO positive but no complaints so far!
Great sound, good construction, lots of features, some quirks by pleasureswell ,Sep 20 '05
Pros: excellent sound, construction, features, looks Cons: have to buy earphones, software could be better
I bought this device based on the positive opinions on this site. The great sound, strong construction, and many features.
The sound IS great, and the construction IS very good, and the features ARE fun and useful.
Saying this, there are some quirks to all this greatness.
Ditch the instructions first off, they will only confuse you.
The pre-packaged ear buds are very weak in giving you the great sound, hence having to buy some nice earphone$$$. The arm band and cover for the unit are pretty useless.
The software works but sometimes has trouble connecting to the device, and could have been presented better in a better format for users. But it works ok.
Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. The excellent sound that it can produce and the features, for me, out-way the down sides.
