With a maximum resolution of 1024x768 and a bright, crisp screen, the ViewSonic VA520 is an acceptable mid-level LCD monitor which opens up a lot of space on a desk that a large non-flat screen would otherwise take up. Unfortunately, there is a small cluster of three frozen pixels in the lower center of the screen which I occasionally notice (when looking for them); one is pink, the other a light blue, and the third is yellow. At the price payed, this defect (however small) is annoying. Overall, this flat panel LCD monitor is very good with a solid and stable base. The menu buttons work well. After about two years of using this monitor, it's screen quality is as it was the first day I turned it on with no defects other than the cluster of three frozen pixels mentioned earlier. I give it an average (3 out of 5 stars) because of the pixel defect, but it is practically inconsequential, but nevertheless annoying. I assume this was just one of the few units that slipped past quality control, so I will give the company the benefit of the doubt.

It has great color and is very clear at its native resolution: 1024x768.

I just wish it had the capabilities of higher resolution, but most 15" flat panels dont!

For those economically proficient people, usually uses about 30W. (a crt can easily use 200W)

Pros: Crisp text, stylish, and intuitive buttons and menu. All around good monitor.
Cons: Miss the higher resolutions, only capable of 1024x768 although common for 15" LCD's.

I purchased the VA520 from BestBuy for 399.00 and am very happy with it so far. Screen is very bright and text is very crisp (ClearType feature in XP does help). My digital photo's also display very well as does video's. I mainly bought it to gain more size on my desk and this monitor (as do all LCD's) definitely accomplishes this. It is styelish with a nice silver bezel surrounding screen and front-side buttons are easy to use and onscreen menu is intuitive.

I've noticed no burnt pixels and viewing angle is pretty good. I have'nt played any games with it so can't give an overview of performance with games. I went from a 17" HP CT and this 15" is definitely much nice even with the .9" of actual viewing space lost.
