Pros: Interesting and fun concept Cons: Pricey, long wait to be seated

Having just taken the kid to Detroit to see the Henry Ford Museum, we went to BD's. It was a Monday night at about 7, so the lines weren't bad. One gets a table, and a server explains to you that there is a soup and salad bar. Then, there is a bowl,...

Pros: fun, friendly, lots of options, personalized Cons: a bit loud
When I moved to Ann Arbor to go off to school, I had no idea what kind of culinary smorgadsbord I had entered. In Ann Arbor, you are guaranteed to find something you like: whether it be vegan or the continental or *real* Indian.
Pros: You pick the items to be stir-fried, they cook them for you. And it's brought out to you. And you can keep going back for more. :) Cons: There are none.

Pros: Great food, all hands on, and you get to strike the gong Cons: Long Lines, sometimes little bits of other people's dishes wind up in your own during cooking
This is a really unique concept and idea. I went to the Mongolian BBQ in Bethesda, MD two weeks ago for a party. I had no idea what to expect, all I had heard was that it was a very lively place to eat dinner. I was not disappointed.
Pros: good food, good service Cons: pricy, crowded

Pros: Great food, lots of selection, make it your way Cons: a little noisy, selections can be overwhelming
I am in love with this restaurant. From the minute you walk in the door, if you're not greeted with the sound of a gong you feel like you're in a TGI Friday's restaurant commercial, the atmosphere is fun and friendly.
Pros: Make your own food Cons: not completely sit down
Mongolian Barbeque has a great idea. Set up a buffet of meats and stir fry items and everyone is happy. I have eaten here many times and I never get tried of the food, because it is always different.
Pros: Good idea, Good quality, Good atmosphere, Good food Cons: Other meals get mixed with yours at times, Pricey

Pros: Fun to make your own combos Cons: You have to make your own food
This is a unique restaurant concept. You assemble your uncooked food into a bowl, they cook it in front of you on a huge grill for you. On paper this sounds a little silly but in practice it is a lot of fun.
How Can You Not Love It!!!!! by mm_mm_iluvfood ,Dec 19 '05
Pros: Lots of Selections and a Great Atmosphere Cons: Need to offer an overnight feast so I can stay longer and eat more!!!!
I have eaten at BD's a million times and it never gets old. I love puttin together a new combination of food every time. I have been to the BD's in Royal Oak, Ann Arbor, Novi and Auburn Hills and the atmosphere is the same; lively and fun. I am not surprised that there are so many imitators. None measure up to BD's. The meats and veggies are fresh and the service is fast and friendly. I eat at BD's about four times a month and I am still not tired of it.
Pros: eat as much as you like. look at college girls. Cons: low quality, annoying atmosphere, racism,
The quality of the ingredients at BDs is exceptionally low. All the vegetables look quite limp, thawed from frozen.
Selecting your own food seems like a good idea, but bear in mind it will all be thrown together on a grill. does spinach cook for the same amount of time as chicken? i didnt think so.
The sauces are myriad. Since few people know the sauces well, i would guess that there is a good deal of oversaucing.
There is a reason people go out; to have food cooked for you.
There are tvs with sports.
There is a high danger of cross contamination from the raw meats. wash your hands after putting together your food.
As for the 9 foot Mongol Man figure, that's just pure racism. We may not know much of it, but there is a lot more to Mongolia than Genghis Khan. Stereotypes aside, I give BDs a most unfavorable review.
