The Little Diner that Could - and DID satisfy

by criteeker Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Aug 01 '07
Pros: REALLY good food, fun atmosphere, they really cater to dieters and healthy eaters
Cons: a bit pricey, only in eight states
I have eaten at a lot of diners in my time - including the birthplace of the diner - New Jersey. I have to say that I was blown away at the quality of the food at Ruby's Diner. Here in California, we have several diner-type eateries such as Johnny ...

Ruby's: 50's Food and More

by mrlarry , Nov 08 '02
Pros: Tasty, fun atmosphere, nostalgia variety of foods
Cons: Many items not too healthy, a little pricier than some coffee shops
If you’re my age, you remember when we had hamburgers and malts without worrying about fat and cholesterol. We enjoyed and sometimes the food made us fat, dumb, and happy. We didn’t worry about sodium content.

If you long for a...

What gal doesn't like Rubys?

by mellkinwa , May 21 '00
Pros: great food, good selection
Cons: can get loud in there
I first went to Rubys with my grandmother while I was in grade school. I loved it then and I love it now. The 50's diner theme is really done well and the atmosphere is really fun. The service at all the Ruby's I have been to is great. The one in...

Shooby Dooby, Yay for Ruby's

by AmyLEnsor Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, May 12 '00
Pros: Cute diner look, good food and service, large menu
Cons: slightly higher in price than some other casual family places
Shooby Dooby down to Ruby’s <insert rest of song here> My husband and I like to make up various lyrics to go with the first part of the song, but this is a family site so I’ll refrain from crudity. My first experience with Ruby’s is when...

Good food, but is it worth it?

by Melayna , May 26 '00
Pros: Tasty food
Cons: Small portions, not always the best service
I've been to Ruby's twice...the one near us is located right near a movie theater that we frequent.

The first time I went I was VERY pregnant and we requested a table as opposed to a booth. They were quite accommodating in getting us a...

Good most of the time

by auddess , Aug 31 '00
Pros: Not too expensive, good milkshakes
Cons: Possible slow service
Since I go to a school which does not serve food on the weekends, my friends and I went to Ruby's about once a month, perhaps a little less, over the past year. We go here when we want a good burger without going to a fast food place.

The...

A Reason To Visit California!

by Cathlinsmom , May 12 '00
Pros: Good food, great shakes!
Cons: In California : (
When I lived in California this was my favorite fast food place to eat! This was 14 years ago... I was pregnant and about all I could keep down was french fries and chicken salad sandwiches. Ruby's has really good food...juicy burgers, fresh chicken...

Two strikes

by kelimil , May 20 '04
Pros: Management willing to correct mistakes and didn't charge for unwanted food.
Cons: Raw food is unacceptable and the atmosphere is annoying.
My first visit to Ruby's was lousy. They were short a waitress and the service was very slow. When we finally got our food, it was wrong (mayo on the sandwich, not on the side, grilled and very greasy bread instead of dry wheat as ordered, etc.) and we ...

A nice place

by kdm2004 , Mar 27 '05
Pros: Great food, awesome atmosphere
Cons: Could be a tad cheaper
Ruby's Diner is a restraunt that is themed after the 1950's. Red and white are the main colors, and they use Coca-Cola sponsorship heavily. The two Ruby's locations I've visited have had a train that runs on a track just under the ceiling all around ...

Rooby-Doobie-Doo

by SubBass49 , May 09 '00
Pros: Flavor, Healthy food, great service
Cons: slightly pricey
Ruby's provides diner-type food with a unique approach, HEALTH. I have never been to such a healthy diner in my life As a steady diet of Coco's and Denny's was adding padding to my backside, Ruby's offered up the same taste and value with actual...

A Great Nostalgic Surprise!

by EFCrow , Oct 01 '00
Pros: Great, affordable restaurant!
Cons: None
I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT RUBY'S! Everything! The food, the waitresses, the milkshakes, and especially the locations. I stumbled on Ruby's in Huntington Beach one day while my spouse and I were on a day getaway trip driving up the Coast Highway, and we...

Why Would I Go Again?

by britney1985 , Dec 07 '03
Pros: creative uniforms
Cons: lack of service
I went to Ruby's hoping for a fun time and an escape from crazy shoppers in the mall, but I was not pleased. I walked in the front door and was welcomed by an empty hostess counter. I stood and waited for about 8 minutes, while staring at a broken DVD ...

Don't try Maui location!!!

by leahwah , Apr 22 '02
Pros: NONE
Cons: incompetent service, over priced food, crappy management
Being that this was a new restaurant, I decided to give it a try. Service was horrible most of the time. Everyone was friendly but most didn't seem like they really knew what was going on half the time. The food is totally overpriced, all sandwiches...

Yummy fun

by styler918 , Nov 21 '01
Pros: Warm atmosphere, great food, good family fun. Good for kids.
Cons: Not quite. That's why it's good for kids :)
This restaurant is one of our family favorites. Setup in a 50's style diner, this restaurant has fun music and food. My favorite food is the ruby burger with barbeque sauce. M-m-m-m-m! It is to die for. It is not your average road-kill hamburger...

A Classic 50's Meal

by mattbyrd , May 21 '00
Pros: Everything! Cheeseburgers, Service, French Fries, Value
Cons: No Cons
This is my absolute, all-time favorite restaraunt! It wisks you to the 1950's with it's incredible atmosphere! The waiters and waitresses are dressed in 50's attire and are very friendly and attentive. The food is top notch and is the best anywhere....
