Pros: Cheap Cons: Gross food, terrible service
I don't want to be cruel, but the Shoney's restaurants I've been to, have been some of the worst that I've ever had the displeasure of eating at. As a competitor of Old Country Buffet and Golden Corral, they have a lot to learn about ...

Pros: Service good, the majority of food on the buffet was fine. Cons: Tough pork chops. Smaller than most buffets.
When we arrived in Kissimmee we went straight for our timeshare. We got settled in and then headed for the Golden Corral restaurant close by. We walked in and asked for 2 senior lunch buffets, or the regular buffet with the 10% discount. I got out $20 ...

Pros: Good food, clean dining area, and usually good service. Cons: Lots of starches on buffet.
Most average size cities have at least one Shoney's location. Our city has managed to lose two of the three locations in the city but surrounding cities still have the chain going strong. It was on a recent visit to Lafayette, LA that my ...

Pros: Hot bar has a lot of variety Cons: The printed menu has nothing for vegetarians
We have several Shoney's in the area where I live and I have never been very impressed with any of them. There is one close to where I work and we occasionally go there for lunch; this is never my idea, and a lot of times I pass on the invitation....

Pros: low prices Cons: poor service, small selection at salad bar
After hearing how great Shoney's is, especially for children, we figured we would give it a try. Shoney's is supposedly well known for it's great kids menu, and salad/soup bar. It was a Saturday afternoon past the lunch rush, and we were ready to relax...

Pros: Breakfast bar, burgers, atmosphere Cons: Desserts
We used to have a Shoney’s where I live. It went out of business a few years ago. I think that Cracker Barrel had a big part in taking much of it’s business away. It seemed that after Cracker Barrel opened, Shoney’s just went down hill in a hurry. ...

Pros: Large portions, well prepared, reasonably priced Cons: The nearest one to us is @ 50 miles away
Like many husbands, I needed a lot of “training”. We have been married since . . . well, we have been married a long time. Admittedly, I have failed most spousal instruction. My bride took great pains to teach me how to get her “in the mood”....

Pros: ? Cons: Food isn't good and service is absent
I was chosen to be a secret shopper for Shoney’s. I though hey cool free food and a few extra bucks. Sure I’ll do it. As you will see from my review I regretted my decision to take this assignment.
This was a 6-week assignment I to dined at...

Pros: Buffet will fill you up for less, great service, tasty treats, celebrity spotting Cons: No Mexican food in all that variety, not enough locations, too crowded
The first time that I remember going into a Shoney's, it was with my church youth group for the breakfast all you can eat buffet. I had never seen so many different food items in one place before! Every kind of fruit imaginable, many breakfast meats to ...

Pros: delicious food and no waiting for your meal Cons: disappearing waitress!
We had occasion today to visit a Shoney's restaurant in Branson, Missouri. Lately, we have not had very good luck with buffet style restaurants so was kind of reluctant to even go into one. We have never had a bad experience with any Shoney's that we...

Pros: Strawberry Pie and Hot Fudge Cake Cons: Never know if the other food will be good or not
I’ve eaten at Shoney’s twice in the past month and a half. Both times were during lunch and were at two different locations near my house.
At the first location (Donelson` Pike, Nashville) I had to wait approximately 10 minutes to be seated....
