Pros: great food, something for everybody Cons: no more cherries
I admit it. The main reason we used to go to the Souplantation was that it was not far from the Marine Corp Training Center in San Diego. The guys that came in were cute; there was enough eye candy to send me into a case opthomalogic diabetic shock. I...
Pros: Healthy and Fresh Food Cons: Can get crowded during peak meal times.
Oh yes…Souplantation...who wouldn’t like this buffet-style restaurant? Souplantation offers plenty of different foods that will satisfy your hunger. They offer everything from Caesar salad to soft serve ice-cream. I suppose the restaurant ...
Pros: Everything is fresh, and most of their prepared foods are made from scratch. Cons: One star off for price and not having at least one lean meat entree.
When I did my first review of Souplantation, a chain soup and salad bar buffet, I slammed them for not having enough protein. That previous review was over 4 years ago, before the Atkins, high-protein, diet revolution hit. Well, with a large percentage ...
Pros: Healthy, inexpensive, family style, buffet for macrobiotic lifestyles. Cons: Crowded during peak lunch hours. Weak fruit and indifferent soup selection.
This review was written in response to megugrrrls request for another review of the Souplantation in Los Angeles. Since there are about 20 or more of them in a 50 radius of downtown, I thought Id focus on the one that my family goes to. It w ...
Pros: Fresh vegetables, salads, tasty soups, low-priced: a healthy buffet great for families or groups Cons: Crowds, people dodging around, not so much on the "hot food" selections
I live in the "Inland Empire" region of Southern California and the closest Souplantation is in San Bernardino, on Hospitality Lane (near the 10 and 215 freeways). This is the one I've frequented most often, however, I've also stopped and tried a few ...
Pros: Good Salad, Good Service, Good Price Cons: Poor Pasta, not much for meat lovers
I visit the souplantation quite often. I like it a lot, thats why I keep going back. The Souplantation offers a good quality, quick dinner at a great price.
I have been going to the souplantation for about 15 years now; some friends...
Pros: Healthy, buffet-style food for the entire family Cons: Can be crowded and noisy
I can't believe I'm the first to be reviewing Souplantation!
Everyone I know, here in San Diego, likes Souplantation. This is a restaurant chain that is run by Garden Fresh Corp., which also runs the identical Sweet Tomatoes restaurants in...
Pros: My whole family will eat at souplantation. Cons: Sometimes they don't have my favorites. I wish drinks were included in the price.
My family loves to eat at souplantation. It is such a bargain for what you get- soup, salad, pasta, pizza, bread, fruit, dessert! My kids love being able to choose what they want because what they want changes on a daily basis. My husband eats the same...
Pros: freshness, huge selection of salad fixings, clean Cons: lack of meat, can be packed, prices (which don't include drinks) increasing
Note that the buffets are called "Sweet Tomatoes" in much of the country. I visit the Souplantation in Marina Del Rey, CA. Given how busy the restaurant can get, the staff does a great job of keeping it clean. During dinner hours, especially ...
Pros: Healthy Options
Vegetarian Options
Filling
Inexpensive
Great Family Environment
Lots of Choice Cons: Conducive to Overeating
I love Souplantation. My friends and I go there all the time because it is one of the few places we can all find something we want to eat. The Souplantation is a great buffet-style restaurant offering healthy dining choices and vegetarian options. As ...
Pros: Affordable, kid friendly and good quality. Cons: It's thirty miles away!
It's hard to find an eatery that the kids like. My kids love the Souplantation because they have choices, get to make their own meal (at least put it on a plate) and there's a soft serve ice cream machine. I have to admit, I enjoy it too.
Pros: Fresh food, veggies paradise, vegetarian items clearly marked. Changes constantly, lots for finicky kids. Cons: I'd like more vegetable and alternative vegetarian specialties, instead of chicken for salads.
I am tired of buffets filled with fatty meat dishes with a salad bar consisting of a bowl of iceberg lettuce and some canned vegetables. Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes are the all time favorite for fresh, fresh food - and tons of it. I haven't ever found a place to make a better salad, with this many fresh ingredients and as many refills as you can handle. It is family and kid friendly and particularly nice for vegetarians because everything is labeled perfectly (and correctly!). The service is great and the atmosphere is fun and lively. The soups are great, although I wish they wouldn't put bacon the clam chowder, and they always have vegetarian alternatives as well. The kids love the pizza and muffins, all baked fresh, and the pasta dishes concocted before your eyes.
A healthy food buffet, what more could you ask for? by tallbabydoll ,Sep 21 '03
Pros: All the fresh, healthy, delicious food you can eat. Cons: You can't help but eat to much!
This restaurant offers a buffet of fresh fruit, salad bar, soups, and fresh baked bread and muffins. What more could you ask for. It tastes great and is good for you. I know longer live in the San Diego area, and will greatly miss this restaurant.
The souplantation is always clean, and I have always received great service. The employees are neat, curtious, and very friendly. The bar is always clean and stocked nicely. If your looking for some great food at a reasonable price in a pleasant atmosphere, look no further, you've found it!
Sweet Tomatoes/Souplantation by daawgon ,Oct 14 '06
Pros: Cleanliness and Freshness Cons: Overdressed, pre-mixed items (salads, pastas)
Service lacking at lunch
Souplantation is known as Sweet Tomatoes in some areas (Oregon is one of them). I'm an old time supporter of this place since my folks are from N. County San Diego (home of Souplantation). This place has gone down hill, and I think it's a cost problem. Prices have remained low, while food quality has slipped (as has service). Especially bad on a recent visit to the Clackamas, OR Sweet Tomatoes was the Caesar Salad (more like Caesar Mush). The Pizza Focaccia had so little cheese (and lukewarm to boot) as to no longer be of interest. The pastas were overcooked and way overdressed. Blandness is creeping into this place, and I doubt if I will continue to recommend it to my friends unless something major is done, quickly. I must say that the restaurants are still extremely clean (I think this might be one of the problems, in that the staff is concentrating on the cleanliness factor, and overlooking a few things in the kitchen!)
I used to rave about Souplantation!
