No competition for Dunkin Donuts
by winger87792 ,May 01 '05
Pros: Nice landscaping and clean store. Cons: Over-priced, bland food and slow service
If this is Canada's Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme then you have to feel sorry for Canadians.
By admission on their own website, Tim Horton's makes their donuts in Canada and ships them to the U.S. stores where they are "finished off"... and they taste it. Bland and a little stale. The sandwiches are a joke. Tasty but very overpriced. $7.50 usd for soup, sandwich and coffee! The soup is barely a cup, the sandwich I ordered was a "large" but what I got was barely 4" long. The coffee wasn't too bad but not as good as McDonald's or Dunkin Donuts. The donuts I've purchased at Tim Horton's are small and bland. The local supermarket bakery has much better donuts for half the price.
Our local Tim Horton's has been open less than a year, but I've already had enough bad experiences there that I've made my last visit.

Good coffee but the "always fresh" slogan from my experience is false advertising
by thmart ,Jan 09 '04
Pros: Would recommend for the coffee Cons: Quite often fresh baked goods but definitely not always
I went into a Tim Hortons just south of Gravenhurst, Ontario to get a coffee and a muffin. The time was about midnight. The coffee was excellent as it always is at Tims. However the muffin had a thick dried out skin on the top of it. I returned it to the counter where the attendant was very polite and gladly replaced it for me. Unfortunately the replacement was exactly the same. So, I went back to the counter again and asked if I could choose something else from the scanty selection that was there at the time. The attendant was very pleasant and good mannered and told me that everything was stale because their daily bake occurred around one to two o'clock a.m. Of course this meant that what was left on the racks had been sitting there for an extremely long time. Too long for baked goods to remain fresh. I must say that everytime I drive past a Tim Hortons I am rankled by that "always fresh" sign and wish it truthfully said "quite often fresh".

You can't throw rock hard timbit without hitting one...
by emptywallet ,Oct 23 '05
Pros: Better, cheaper Mocha than Starbucks or Blenz Cons: The donuts aren't that spectacular.
Let's get down to it...the donuts.
Not so good. Not as good as a fresh Krispy Creme or Shipleys. They just taste old and dry to me.
One thing I LOVE about Tim Hortons is their advertising campaigns and meal deals. My favorite so far has been the EGG SALAD SANDWICH special about a year ago. Yes, they actually made commercials to sell an EGG SALAD SANDWICH! You got a cup of coffee with it and, maybe, a donut. Egg Salad and Coffee. Why on earth anyone would promote an egg salad sandwich and coffee is beyond me. That's the kind of lunch only a chain smoking 60 year old in a trench coat would order (somewhere between 1958 and 1972).
Since I am a timbit throw from a Tim Hortons and a Blenz and a Starbucks, I would choose the Hortons for a cheaper cup of coffee...and the Mocha is pretty good.

I love the flavored coffees!
by rhythmdiva ,Feb 22 '06
Pros: TH will make your perfect cup of coffee for you. Cons: Great customer service depends on which store you go to.
TH has been advertising flavored coffees and I have two new favs. The Butter Caramel and the Orange. I usually use the drive thru and don't have to worry about getting messy putting in the ingredients - cause TH will make your favorite cup of coffee. And price wise - it's a good deal. (In Ohio)Else where - a medium coffee (at a coffeehouse) is about $1.60. At TH it's only $1.25! Love that!!

not the greatest
by j_bean ,Dec 09 '04
Pros: good coffee, cheap, lots of varieties, not very hard to find since they're everywhere. Cons: no debit, xlarge is the size of a starbucks small, staff is usually unskilled/unfriendly
they do have very good coffee for a reasonable price, but the sizes are way too small, and i find the staff to be unfriendly most of the time as well as unskilled. I've often gone and received stale donuts and they also dont take interact.

Coffee - THE SIMPLE WAY!
by canadianhockey ,Oct 16 '03
Pros: -simple understandable choices
-great coffee Cons: -can be a line up, but there is ways around it
I am from Canada so I know that for a lot of us it is impossible to start your day with out a trip to 'Timmies'.
Here is what is so great about this place ITS SIMPLE! No extra tall mochachino espresso double latte with cinnamon and sprinkles here. A coffee is a coffee, and if you are really fancy, have a cappuccino (the French Vanilla is great!)
Tim Hortons are every where here, and it is a good thing. It has a great atmosphere, especially in the rural and suburban areas. It is not unusual to see The same people there having a drink everyday. You can meet your friends here for a coffee and just have a good talk.
As with every place the service varies from store to store, but in general the staff are good at their jobs. We often groan at a line up at the more centrally located franchises, but keep in mind the literally hundreds that come through in the morning rush. So go to some of the smaller stores a little ways out for quicker service in the morning. Or wait until after the rush and invite some friends.

A GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO FAST FOOD PLACES
by kicia ,Dec 26 '03
Pros: inexpensive, convenient, healthy choices in today's "fast food" world Cons: many times in the summer their Iced Cappuccino machine fails:(
For the most part TIM HORTON's is a great place - it only depends on WHO runs the "ship" and how tight they keep it running:) I've been to some that are poorly kept but most are excellent - and you can thank the internal audits for that:) overall, a great place to have a coffee and a great healthy, tasty and inexpensive meal:)

Yuck
by bobo24712 ,Feb 24 '08
Pros: Ice cap Cons: Any baked good.
Tim Horton's coffee is not bad, and the ice caps are the best. The donuts are awful! Way too sweet and taste artificial. Everything bad about a baked good you can think of. I have never liked the baked goods. I recently decided to try the donuts again in hopes they may have improved. Sadly, they have gotten even worse. Now they are stale on top of everything else. In the summer, I will hit Timmy's for coffee and Dunkin' Donuts for the baked goods.
The service at Tim's varies. Some locations here are pretty quick, others are so slow that people are honking and screaming while in line.

Addicted to Tim hortons ice cappuccinos
by aarro ,Jan 05 '04
Pros: Excellent coffee shop, Good service. I recommend ice cappuccinos to the regular coffee drinker. Cons: the employees are sometimes rude.
Well I'm 16 years old to start off.. I started drinking ice cappuccinos when I was 12. I didn't like them the first time I had one but my second one.. I absolutely loved them. At one time I was so addicted I had to have one everyday I've lowered my consumptions lately and now I only have one once and a while but I still love them. Ice cappuccinos are my favourite drink.

Awesome Coffee Shop!
by sheila1988 ,Mar 16 '07
Pros: Doughnuts are awesome..really tasty, also amazing hot chocolate. Cons: Not a lot of Tim Hortons in the States.
Tim Hortons is awesome. Its pretty common in Canada, they are not too many Tim Hortons in the States. My cousins when they come to Canada go crazy over the doughnuts. My favorite doughnuts are the Boston Cream and Honey Cruler. The hot chocolate with whipped cream is pretty good too. In the summer Iced Capps...they are really, really good...love them. Overall an awesome coffee shop.

Tim Horton's
by deidra_hicks ,Oct 02 '07
Pros: Loved the HOT CHOCOLATE Cons: A little Pricey, but still cheaper and better than Starbucks!
On a recent visit to Canada, we stopped going in at a Tim Horton's. Their Hot Chocolate was AWESOME, best hot chocolate I have ever had. So of course we stopped several other times. And am hunting for some in the states. None in North Carolina Yet. Loved the doughnuts and the minis were awesome, but I like Krispy Creme doughnuts in the states more and even a Dunkin' Doughnuts occasionally. And they even except VISA (a plus for us Dumb American's who come unprepared into Canada) Ehhhhhh......

Mediocrity defined
by timhortenhater ,Mar 07 '07
Pros: None Cons: Watery, flavourless coffee & worse donuts. A cancerous wart on our great country.
It baffles the mind how Canadians line up in droves to purchase watery coffee and dry donuts topped with artificial flavours and fillings. There should be a law in Canada that everyone must at least try a fresh ground coffee at home, and a real good ol' fashioned donut from a bakery, one deep fried, as a donut must be, and filled with genuine blueberry or chocolate instead of purple chemical goo, or faux chocolate with brown food colour. How does Tim's celebrate maple sugar season in Canada?, they push donuts topped with 100% artificial maple extract, yummy.
I can't fault the patrons, it is not their fault that they have not been exposed to the good things in life. I thank God my mother could cook, and encouraged me to try new things and not settle for Mediocrity.
