Pros: Unique control system, Great graphics Cons: Control system is way too complex, not much content, confusing objectives
I was a bit skeptical to hear that a new skateboarding game was going to move in on Tony Hawks turf. If you ever wanted a skateboarding game there was no alternative to Tony Hawk and for the most part, it delivered a solid experience. However, if Tony ...

Pros: Unique and fun controls and a well-designed city playground. Cons: Graphics are mediocre and the story is nothing new or special.
**Please note that the following review references only the single-player portion of the game, and that this review was originally written for and published on GameFAQs.** The so-called "extreme sports" genre peaked with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and ...

Pros: Graphics, Controls, Imaginativeness, and Sound. Cons: Ease of use for beginners.
Synopsis This is, in my opinion, one of the best sport simulations on the market. It is superior to the Tony Hawk skating games in just about every aspect. That is all but playability. I will admit that it take a long time to get the controls ...

Pros: Realistic
Fun
Great Graphics
Real World Locations
Flick-it system
Cons: No female characters
Product placement
No breaking boards
Limited trick selection.
My experience with this game has simply left me with nothing but satisfaction. Tony Hawk step aside because EA's SKATE is the new king of the skateboard game genre. Tony Hawks simplistic button mashing out of this world controls is replaced by an intuitive new system called "Flick-it" which takes advantage of the right thumb sticks moments to portray tricks on screen. At first this is a difficult thing to master but after a little whiles play things get easier and you begin mastering and learning new tricks which simulates the rue fun of skateboarding. not stringing together endless combo's for non existent points like in TH games. SKATE has an amazing character editor to help you customize your profile to your own personality while you explore the city of San Vanelona which is MASSIVE and absolutely dispels any and all of the Tony Hawk game levels in terms of size creativity and all realistic properties. My only complaints are that the trick selection can be limited at times and you cannot break your boards. Another irritating factor was that there is a lot of blatant product placement.

Skate. Well, that IS the name of it.

Pros: Interesting concept on the control of skateboarding. Cons: The traffic and pedestrians and STUPID A** skaters crash into YOU.
Skate. Simple one word title. Control scheme? Simple, at least sometimes it is. Honestly, it's a realistic take on the genre (unlike Tony Hawk games). The "flickit" control scheme has the right analog stick being used; all the moves are done with it. Cool concept, but there are a couple complaints: Grinds are done by landing on the surface you wish to grind. You ollie then hope you land correctly. No grind button, sorry guys. Manuals here are WAY BETTER than Tony Hawk's. You ease the stick back, so there's NO balance meter. However, a button press should have been used. The "story" mode is okay, too. Unfortunately, this is where the flaws of the game shine through (shine like sh*t that is). The traffic and pedestrians are stupid. Some of the goals are a tad bit stupid as well. Why would you have skaters sharing a rail when all they do is crash into each other? The trick system IS innovative but also inconsistent. I'd have stuck with the button format, but hey. The camera is a pain as well. It IS an ambitious game. If they fix some things(like flaws) this could be a good franchise.
