Lightning strikes at the Palace!

by KaitiesMommy , Jun 08 '00
Pros: Comfortable, Good seat planning
Cons: Food prices, parking (unless you park in the garage)
I have gone to the Ice Palace for various events. Concerts, Ice Hockey and Wrestling. From first look at the outside the Palace looks well planned and designed. The inside is not what you would expect.

As you enter the Ice Palace you see...

Ice Palace - Better than the Hockey Team

by jstancil , Mar 05 '01
Pros: Attractive Structure
Cons: Needs a hockey team in it.
The Ice Palace in Tampa is a beautiful building. As you approach the building, there is a large courtyard before reaching the arena. This kind of sets it off and makes it feel less crowded, somehow. Inside I found the corridors to be adequate with...

HORRIFIC SEATING!

by Scorgian , Apr 03 '00
Pros: CSN&Y was the only good thing about it.
Cons: Bring a seatbelt to strap yourself in, you think I`m kidding when I say this...
What group of sadists designed this arena anyway? Were they in any way AWARE of the perpendicular threat to life and limb? You need seatbelts, I swear! The slightest jostle threatens to propel one over the practically nonexistent "guard" rail....

Beautiful, but Built on a Budget!!!

by devray , Jan 19 '00
Pros: nice, comfortable, fun surroundings, much development in the area
Cons: parking can be tough, bad hockey team, high ticket price
Don't get me wrong, the Ice Palace located in Downtown Tampa is one of the nicest stadiums around. The exterior looks are amazing and it overlooks the water. As well, the new team owner, William Davidson is planning on developing the land around the...

Nice arena, terrible team

by cjg , Mar 28 '00
Pros: Good value for the price
Cons: The Lightning stink
I've been to a few hockey arenas, so I was looking forward to my first ever trip to the Ice Palace. I was not disappointed.

First off, the arena is easy to get to. It is right near the downtown area, and they are actually improving the area...

Can I get an oxygen mask with my nosebleed seat?

by bucsfan76 , May 25 '05
Pros: Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning. Good atmosphere even when the Lightning were terrible.
Cons: Crowded concourses, terrible food, nosebleed seats.
The St. Pete Times Forum (formerly Ice Palace) is your basic modern 3-level arena with club seats and skyboxes. What this means is those of us everyday fans on budgets are forced into the upper reaches of the building. And they are way, WAAAAAY up. ...

State of the Art Hockey Arena

by hyjyljyj , Apr 23 '05
Pros: Fantastic sight lines and the Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning, hockey's top team
Cons: $11 cans of beer??! You gotta be kidding me!!
The name "Palace" is richly deserved here. Everything is top-notch, with ultra-keen attention to detail. Compared to the two previous homes of the Tampa Bay Lightning, a 10,000-seat rodeo barn at the State Fairgrounds and a 45,000-seat baseball stadium, ...

It's Really the St. Pete Times Forum! GO BOLTS!

by tribeman914 , Mar 10 '04
Pros: Plaza with Music and Games, Energetic Fans/Announcer, Great Team
Cons: Expensive Seats, Expensive Food
Folks, first off, this is the BEST hockey arena in the world, bar-none. It is also used for concerts, arena football and the circus. I am a Lightning fan living in Chicago and I always look forward to my yearly pilgrimage to the St. Pete Times Forum, ...

terrible seating

by patstrick , Jan 20 '00
Pros: beautiful building
Cons: terrible location and seating
I have gone to the Ice Palace for conventions more than once and I did not like the seating at all. If you got there early enough to get a seat in the lower sections that was fine but up in the upper decks was terrible. Whoever coined the phase Nose...

A Great Time

by dvdrz , Jan 23 '03
Pros: Location, atmosphere, parking.
Cons: some seating
We've been to the Ice Palace twice. Being that we were on vacation & not familiar with the area the arena was relatively easy to find (right on the waterfront in walking distance to the Aquarium). The first time we went we were staying in Tampa (the...

(N)Ice Palace

by DanJAct , Jan 19 '00
Pros: Nice, modern look ; Good sound
Cons: it's DOWNTOWN in Tampa...
The atmosphere in the car was not the best - I HATE business trips!
My company sent me to Tampa to inspect sites for a Pre-Convention meeting for a company that I will not name, because I HATE that company, and I HATE MY JOB! With this attitude, I...

The Palace kicks Ice

by RTFLDGR , Nov 02 '00
Pros: Concourses, ample seating, bars and shoping along concourses are plenty, location, location, location!
Cons: The Tampa Bay Lightning
Ice Palace is built in a gorgeous location along the Downtown Tampa waterfront. It's main tennants, however, might be some of the saddest members of the NHL, but that is NOT a reason to deem Ice Palace anything less than wonderful.

Currently,...

Truly a palace.

by firesgar , Jan 13 '00
Pros: amazingly lavish, cool, comfortable, cheap
Cons: bad neighborhood, bad home team
This is by far one of the nicest NHL arenas around. The atmosphere in the club section is identical to that of the 3rd and1st level. Games are so much fun to watch here. You may consider that a stretch because of how bad the Lightning are, but the...

Not bad at all!

by carolz , Apr 10 '00
Pros: good entertainers
Cons: sound quality with use of most of stadium
I recently attended a concert at the Tampa Ice Palace.
I must admit that I was prepared for the sound quality to be less than in a theatre. Surprise, surprise, the sound quality was much better than I even hoped for. Not bad at all for a...

Pros: Easy to get to from Sarasota and surrounding cities, parking is not a problem.
Cons: I really can't find anything bad to say about the St. Pete Times Forum.
Go Bolts ! Yeah St. Pete Times Forum. Tonight's game 7...The Tampa Bay Lightning will prevail and make us all proud to be Hockey Fans. Seating for hockey is best down on the boards or in Club Level.
