Do you want to eat an insect?

by adiliber , Jul 20 '00
Pros: fun, fun, fun
Cons: insect eating
My husband and I recently visited the Olympic Stadium, or better known as the “BIG O”, yesterday. Being born and raised in Montreal, and having spent most of my adult life there, being back in Montreal was nice. Even though I am not a big baseball fan...

Small Ball

by dlove1976 , Nov 13 '02
Pros: Easy to get a good seat, enthusiastic fans
Cons: It's still a dome and it's still astro-turf
I went up to Montreal in July 2002 to get a first and perhaps last glimpse of the Expos playing at the O.

We had field box seats behind 1B, about 10 rows up. Considering the exchange rate and the scarcity of fans showing up (especially on a...

The word "Olympic" doesn't deserve this treatment

by qt237 , Jul 12 '00
Pros: Baseball is played
Cons: Everything...
I've been once, and that was one time too many. I love baseball, baseball anywhere is good, so most of the time I won't care if the place is gross, but this time, it wasn't acceptable. I'll give them this, there's hot dogs and nachos, and baseball is...

Doesn't feel like major league baseball, but then it's not priced like it either.

by schwartzb , Apr 25 '01
Pros: Inexpensive, easy access by subway
Cons: No one at the games, too much concrete
Olympic Stadium is a terrible design for baseball and doesn't draw major league crowds, but at the same time, it is the most inexpensive place you can see a baseball game. If you're in Montreal and you like baseball, by all means take the subway to a...

The Big Ouch

by thehip1 , Aug 28 '00
Pros: None.
Cons: far from core of city, too big, too old, falls apart easily
I've been going to see baseball games at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal for over 15 years, and each year it gets more depressing... the on field product has been shaky for sometime, but the real problem is the stadium itself. Built from the summer...

Cosmopolitan Montreal deserves better

by ejjiii , May 10 '00
Pros: Great City, Great young team
Cons: Stadium may be the worst in Baseball History
I have to preface my review with the disclaimer that it has been 17 years since I visited Olympic Stadium.

First, a little history…

In 1968, the National League promised Montreal an expansion franchise only if the City or Province...

So Bad It's Good

by dlockeretz , Mar 12 '00
Pros: Few
Cons: See above
Stadiums such as the King Dome in Seattle or Three Rivers in Pittsburgh are simply boring and unattractive. The Olympic Stadium of Montreal, however, keeps the viewer amused during the slow stretches of the game with its ridiculous tower, excessive...

It's not the stadium

by BlackVapor , May 10 '00
Pros: Great historical landmark
Cons: Not designed for baseball
I live in the Montreal area and I can tell you, the Olympic Stadium is a landmark. Not many cities can boast to have a stadium that was used in the Olympics. However, this stadium is far from being designed for baseball and far less for baseball in...

All About the Big O...

by androoos Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Feb 23 '02
Pros: City is a mix of New York and Paris. Tickets are dirt cheap.
Cons: No one comes to the games, city doesn't care.
I've been going to Olympic Stadium for four years. I go to college in Up-Upstate NY (almost Canada) and it takes me about an hour and a half to get to the stadium. Getting there...ok, NOT getting there is impossible. You can see the stadium from just...

If you can't say something nice, you're talking about the O'.

by Shecket , Jan 13 '00
Pros: Nice view from tower
Cons: see below
In America, Baseball is the national pastime. In Quebec, which is teetering close to sovereignty, the favored pastime is ignoring the Expos.

Fingers have been pointed every which way to explain why the Expos draw and play so poorly. You...

Old and Time To Move

by Batesmer , Jan 18 '00
Pros: Olympic Tower
Cons: Ugly, Old and Uncomfortable
I went to Montreal with a school trip and we went to Olympic Park to watch an Expos game. It is the worst stadium I have been in. It is old and the seats are not comfortable at all. The view of the field is not good and the team is awful. The playing...

it's pretty bad when the locals don't go

by jturnhei , Jan 24 '00
Pros: easy access from subway, good legroom
Cons: fans don't like it and don't take care of it
This is a stadium best reached by using the subway. I had high hopes when I first saw it, but really it's the locals that seem to be causing the problems. The night I was there I witnessed a local habit of trying to cheer the team on by pounding on...

Horrid

by teengop , Apr 22 '00
Pros: Tower
Cons: Carpet,Dome,Fans,
No wonder all the young guns leave montreal. One it's Montreal, Two they have to pay Canadian Taxes, and Three, their home park in Olympic Stadium. Lets see the design is pretty cool, and the elevator ride up to the top of the observation tower is...

Nothing terribly special

by cha2568636 , Jan 23 '00
Pros: Clean, spacious, good sightlines
Cons: looks dated, artifical turf
Driving up from Vermont, I was pretty excited to see Montreal. I had never been to Canada before, and was looking forward to knocking off another park from my list of ballparks I hadn't seen yet. I should say, however, that my excitement was somewhat...

Not a great Stadium...but some things are worthwhile

by bigdig95 , Jan 21 '00
Pros: Reasonable prices for tickets, enjoyable but different kind of baseball experience
Cons: Stadium doesnt give you that baseball spirit and feeling. Not a baseball park like Fenway or Yankee Stadium.
Maybe its just me, but I love the city of Montreal. So perhaps this stadium will get a better review than it should...but what the heck....hear me out.

The stadium itself does not feel like baseball at all. No being out in the...
