by bcnjohn21 , Jun 20 '01
Pros: 24 hour, in depth coverage of weather around the world.
Cons: Too repetitive, it's always the same thing.
I just want to start this epinion off by stating that i'm not against the weather channel it's a great concept but 24 hours of weather please. Wait a second i'm actually wrong it's 12 hours of weather and 12 hours of commercials.

Rain or shine?

by snippy510 , Jan 26 '00
Pros: very up to date information on the weather
Cons: a little too many commercials
Kudos to The Weather Channel! I love being able to turn this channel on and be able to see the temperature on the bottom of the screen. I think they are very thorough with explaining what's goin on in the United States, and also in foreign countries,...

Whose weather are they covering?

by tkerodd Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, May 18 '00
Pros: great hurricane coverage
Cons: not enough local, too much national
The Weather Channel always seems to be having a struggle within itself. Is it presenting weather for the local area, or for the nation as a whole? It is like they are trying to spend all their time doing both, and it tends to frustrate me.

Seems Useful Until You Live Somewhere With Rapidly Changing Weather

by Pirich Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Sep 08 '07
Pros: Dramatic videos, cure for insomnia
Cons: Does Not React to Dynamic Weather. Plays Historical Documentaries While Major Storms Hit You.
Back when I lived along the Gulf Coast, the weather wasn't just a topic to pass the time; it was a very real threat, as demonstrated by Katrina. The Weather Channel appeared to do well in that environment, where a single weather event took days to form ...

The Weather Channel: Great Storm Coverage

by dbhoutx Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jan 09 '01
Pros: Information on TV and the web
Cons: None
The Weather Channel provides some of the best storm coverage among all national television networks. The news they share is not shared for simply a self-serving purpose, but is primarily shared with the public to help ensure public safety. There are...

Weather When You Need It

by sylvie , Oct 12 '99
Pros: weather all the time, some of which you don't actually care about
Cons: weather all the time, some of which you don't actually care about
Granted, as stimulating original quality program goes, the Weather Channel is not HBO. The web offers local weather information without a ten minute wait, and even I, a die-hard Weather Channel fan, find the new graphic background on the Local...

Dewpoint Is Everything

by bciverson , Dec 28 '99
Pros: Always on -- They never go to infomercials overnight.
Cons: Always on -- My wife doesn't understand why I'm always watching. (Hey! weather is always changing and they haven't perfected the science of prediction!)
It's really all about dewpoint.

Whenever I want to know what kind of severe or tranquil weather we're in for all I have to do is switch on my TV to The Weather Channel. Okay... it's kind of boring for those who are not into meteorology or...

by Ray_073 , Dec 23 '99
Pros: Tells you the weather
Cons: can make you fall asleep
The Weather Channel, the channel all about weather, Yippee! I do not know if its the broadcasters, or the radars and maps, or even the the music It makes me fall asleep. You know what I am talking about that little tune that can make a hyper toddler fall...

Weather Is the Best Whine Around

by seriouskidding , Apr 21 '00
Pros: Darned accurate, captivating,
Cons: They're always standing in front of Arizona
Weather is the ultimate conversation topic. Get stuck searching for something to talk about at awkward moments, the weather always works:
"Yeah, some weather we're havin'." Who can't or won't talk about the weather? No one. And the...

I Always Start My Day With The Weather Channel

by Staceygill , Oct 12 '00
Pros: Excellent, reliable, and timely weather information
Cons: None!
In my opinion, The Weather channel is the best place to go for weather information. I always check it first thing when I get up every morning to find out what is in store for me. Will I need a jacket? Or an umbrella? I know I can rely on The Weather...

Once a Joke.. Now an enlightening classic.

by PKWBassGuy , Jan 13 '00
Pros: most everything
Cons: sometimes a little TOO detailed info
When the mass populace first got cable in the early 80s this channel was standard joke. Yes it had handy information and and helpful radar.. but that was about it. And same radar pic and said 12-hour forecast would repeat ad infinitum to the point that...

Good for those who want lots of information

by wgrace , Apr 02 '00
Pros: In depth coverage of major weather events
Cons: Up to 10 minutes between summary forecasts, repetitive after 1 hour
I have loved weather forecasting since I was a kid, and I was delighted to see the Weather Channel become available.

If I was an average person (and I know a few who helped me develop this opinion), then I would feel that this station goes a...

by trishanne , Jan 26 '00
Pros: Pretty accurate, available 24/7
Cons: too many commercials, repetition
I remember when I first started watching the weather channel. That's what you got when you turned it on...lots of weather. It was local, national, regional, but it was also a lot of special reports which I found to be very interesting. Some days I would...
