Pros: Cheap in Price, Modern, Excellent Service, and Good flight timings. Cons: Some crew needs little improvement in English, and names of different classes are little confusing.
Leg# 1 from Los Angeles to Taipei I flew from L.A to Bombay (Via Taipei) (about 2 hours between flight changes) in Economy Class in mid-June 2007. The flight was at about 5:00 PM (Pacific Time). The ticket was not as cheap as I thought it would be. It ...
Pros: Highest quality service Cons: none that I've found so far
I have flown EVA many times between Honolulu and Taipei, and from Taipei on to other points in Asia. Their service is consistently excellent. Their staff is well trained, considerate and highly personable. The food is well beyond what is offered on...
Pros: Comfortable seats. Lots of legroom. Cons: The food.
I've never flown EVA before. In the past, when I have taken transpacific flights, I've taken Northwest (because I am held captive by their frequent flier program) or China Airline. I'm not terribly wealthy or work for company that requires me to tra ...
Pros: Great Service, Great Food, One of the leading airlines in the world Cons: not popular, not in many big alliances
I love flying and I have flown many airlines and Eva Air in one of the best I have ever flown. From the moment I got to the check in counter, the Eva Air clerks took care of all of it until I boarded the plane in which I was greeted with 4 flight...
Pros: Still the best value and most comfortable carrier from Australia to Europe. Cons: The replacement of MD11 with Boeing 767 means no Evergreen Deluxe Class to Australia.
In 2000 my wife and I flew from Brisbane Australia to Paris on Singapore Airlines in their Business Class which I described at the time as the only way to fly (see my review there).
In 2002 after reading the reviews here, and having lost our...
Pros: Evergreen Deluxe Class - Business Class seats for $100 more each way Cons: None
Just got back from an around the world trip that started with EVA Air LAX - Taipei - Manilla. I chose EVA's Evergreen Deluxe Class and sat at the front downstairs of their 747-400.
Comparable to US Domestic Business Class and a nice upgrade...
Pros: Seats you can actually sleep in - lightly Cons: Food left a little to be desired
EVA Air LAX-TPE-BKK and back. What a great experience!! I flew Northwest Airlines to Hong Kong this March and thought I would die from the cramped quarters and lack of service. When we decided to go to Bangkok this September, we decided to read a few...
Pros: Larger seats, great service from friendly staff Cons: None that I've discovered!
I have used EVA Airs Evergreen Deluxe class on a number of occasions in the past year on the London-Bangkok route and must say that its as good as many other airlines business class. Their premium economy section is in the front of a B747, so...
Pros: efficient, good food, comfortable seats, new aircraft Cons: attendants very busy, always seem to be in a hurry
Flew Eva Air's Deluxe Economy from LAX to Bangkok via Taipei. Highly recommended. Flight left at 11:55 p.m. and arrived Bangkok at 11:20 a.m. two days later. The deluxe economy seats rival regular business class seats and allow you to sleep or at least...
Pros: low fare, extra legroom Cons: two stopovers instead of one, making the trip six hours longer
I had a very positive experience flying EVA Airways. My initial decision to fly EVA was based primarily on cost; I didn't want to sit in coach on a 23 hour trip, but I didn't want to spend a small fortune for a business class ticket either. After ...
Pros: Deluxe Class is the best deal across the pacific ! Cons: No lounge access for Deluxe.
Quick Update Just got back from an LAX-TPE roundtrip in Business. Slept for 9 hours both ways ! The planes are starting to feel a bit old, but this is still a great deal $2k for trans-pacific J-class; Cathay to HK would have been over $5k. You can't ...
Pros: Wonderful service, Good reputation, New Airline, Overall GREAT Cons: None
Before the Evergreen group formed EVA Air, China Airlines was the main airline of Taiwan and China. But now, things have changed. Eva Airlines started back in 1991 by the Evergreen group who currently also provided cargo services to many different...
Pros: A superb value in the "Deluxe Economy" class seats. Good airline food! Cons: Limited routes available.
I'm the kind of leisure traveller who enjoys being at my destination -- not getting there. Long airline flights in particular sap my soul. In flying from the West Coast to Taiwan, I subject my 6-foot body to a real test of endurance.
Pros: Excellent Service and Safety Cons: No US Frequent Flyer partner
If any of your travel plans include Asia destinations I would definitely recommend EVA. This is the only airline I have ever flown whose service routinely generates applause as the aircraft pulls into the gate. EVA provides a high level of service as...
Pros: Service, service, service. Comfort, friendliness of cabin staff, new aircraft and overall a great product Cons: Too insignificant to mention
I purchased a r t Economy Elite < b>San Francisco to Bangkok leaving September 24, 2008 at 0140. The check-in was flawless, friendly and efficient at a dedicated check-in lane. SFO to TPE was in a B777, row 24 Aisle seat. It was a very room ...
Pros: Upgraded coach class, individual monitor at each seat Cons: Wish seat back reclined farther

Pros: Own TV in Deluxe, Great Food, Direct Flight Cons: Pricey, Cheezy Eva Theme Song
One of the biggest benefits you find in EVA, if money is of no value, is its deluxe economy class. Due to its popularity, EVA air has remodeled many of their jets to fit more cabins with deluxe economy class. Since these roomier seats allows less...
Pros: Friendly flight attendants; noodle bowl at request! Cons: Umm, none really....the bright green uniforms?
Since my sister and her family live in Taiwan, I've done quite a bit of traveling to Taiwan in my life. I've flown Eva Air 99% of the time, except twice when I had to pay for my own ticket (I flew Northwest). Eva Air is truly a privilege to ride. The ...
Pros: great food, attentive service, plenty of entertainment Cons: few alliances, poor frequent flyer program
EVA may not be widely recognized, but they definitely deserve to be. EVA is probably one of the nicest of the Asian airlines with which I've flown, and is an excellent option for travelling to or connecting in Taiwan. I found every aspect of their...
Pros: Pleasant Staff, Smooth Ride, Excellent Price Cons: None!
On my recent trip to Bangkok from Los Angeles, I can certainly say that I would travel again with EVA AIR. The bottomline on choosing EVA AIR was price. I had no prior knowledge before booking on who EVA AIR was. The meals were pretty good for ...
Pros: Great Service, Fast Boarding Cons: Need action movies!
I've been on EVA Air four times already, each time to Taiwan. They are very efficient in boarding their passengers, since I haven't had a delay before. The stewardesses are all courteous and helpful, and are quick to respond. One thing I have a slight...
Pros: Evergreen Deluxe Class is Great! Cons: Food is only o.k.
I took this airline several years ago only because they the only one that offered a non-stop Seattle-Taipei trip. That one trip really changed my perception about airline travel in general. I used to take US airlines on my trips overseas, but the US...
Pros: Great flight attendants. On time schedules. Great meal service. Easy transit in Taipei. Cons: No personal TVs in Economy class on the B747-400s.
In August of 2003, I flew EVA Air from Los Angeles to Ho Chi Minh City via Taipei. I have nothing but praises for EVA Air. Having never flown a foreign airline before, I was very pleased with their service. The flight attendants were very attentive. You ...
Pros: Nice, smiling staff; good onboard music selection Cons: Not exactly in the same league as Singapore or Cathay Pacific; tacky Web site
I recently flew from Taipei to Fukuoka on EVA. It was my second time on EVA, the first being in their Deluxe Business Class from Taipei to San Francisco. For this flight, I was on a free business class ticket. It was hard getting a seat, since EVA, ...
Pros: Great value. Nice planes. Nicer crew. Cons: Slightly cramped seats in economy for 747-400
Between Philippines and Taiwan this is my airline of choice. It's cheaper than Philippine Airlines and around the same price as China Airlines without the military pilots. I've flown with EVA countless times (more than 20). Summary:
Pros: Affordable, Premium economy for the price of economy Cons: Limited destinations
I was more than a little sceptical when my travel agent of choice, Trailfinders, found me seats on Eva Air, for my recent trip to Thailand. I did a little research, and in general, I couldnt find any bad word against the airline. Even consumer reviews, ...
Pros: Deluxe Class, on-time-performance, good
maintanance on planes, good rates on fares. Cons: Economy Class too small. Food not tasty,
unpersonal service of cabin crew.
We did the stretch AMS-BKK / BKK-AMS on EVA Deluxe Class.
The price/service level is very good. I would advise to
buy a Deluxe class ticket instead of an economy class
ticket, the price difference is not too much but it's
a big...
Pros: Roomy seats. Best value overall. Cons: Employees don't communicate in English very well.
I fly EVA Air when I fly to the Philippines to visit family. I have flown at least 5 other airlines to the Philippines and EVA is the best. Pricewise, EVA has the cheapest fares as long as you reserve a couple of months in advance. They have economy ...
Pros: On time reliable service ,polite attentive cabin crew, Lots of great juice. Cons: odd sometimes inedible food in coach. 747 coach cabin not really modern.
And limited Sodas.
EVA air has been flying for about 14 years and it seems like it is one of those airlines that in 10 years or so could be a world class airline.
The fare from San Fransisco to Bangkok was $700 roundtrip, the Evergreen deluxe fare I heard was...
Pros: seating, reliable baggage handling Cons: poor service in English re reservations, seat assignment, etc.
Website substandard.
I have flown EVA ten times between LAX and southeast Asia. As a fairly large person (6-2, 220 lbs), I found economy seating on other airlines nearly unbearable on 13 to 15 hour flights. EVA's deluxe economy seating fits my size and I wish other ...

Pros: Value for money, seating comfort, 25 kg baggage allowance, in-seat-video Cons: Only Economy Class service
I flew on EVA Air from Amsterdam to Bangkok (and back) and booked for the flight this "Evergreen Deluxe Class", which is a sort of Premium Economy Class. So, it should be a sort of "upgraded" Economy Class but in my sight of the things EVA's...
Pros: Excellent service and food, good all-around Cons: Kind of strange pricing behavior
My family and I started taking EVA Airlines when they first started years ago since they were the only airline to fly out of Newark Airport towards Taipei which is much closer to us than JFK is. At first I was skeptical since EVA is owned by Evergreen...
Pros: Premium laurel is a good product, Good AVOD, Good in-flight service overall Cons: Angled lie-flat seats are not truly flat.
Business took me to Singapore twice in the recent past. The cheapest business class my travel desk could find was on EVA Air an airline I had never heard of at that point. I was pushing them to book on Virgin Atlantic, but that was supposedly above the ...

Pros: Price, Service, Price, Flight Times Cons: Nothing
LHR to BKK with Eva. If i am honest i got this flight for the price and that was all, no one i know had ever used this airline and the reviews on this site helped a little but with most being about the Economy Plus option i was not too sure what to expect ...
Pros: Seat pitch and timing of meal service Cons: Seat width to small
My father-in-law joking calls this airline by the same name that I have given the title of this review, but actually they were quite good.
They have a decidedly Taiwanese flavor of course because they are based there, but with the charm of the...
Pros: Great food, and great service Cons: Bit more expensive
I've flown EVA Air 4 times (2 round trips LAX-TPE) in the Deluxe Economy Class and have been very happy. The seating is wider with a bit more legroom. The seat back video screens are nice to watch the in flight movies and to keep track of your flight...
Pros: good service, ok meal selection (terrible but better than some) Cons: terrible policy, untimely service, dishonesty, unreasonable,
I have traveled on EVA airlines a few times to Taiwan and had found everything pretty ok. However, my story involves EVA airline's policy and not its service. To start things, I am seventeen years old, but I do not lie or make up anything of what I am...
Pros: Experienced pilots, good attendants Cons: Expensive, hard to get seating
When Eva air began, they picked a fight with China airlines on who's the darling airline of Taiwan. Well, it turned out that there was no competition. With Eva's better service and China's shabby safety record, EVA clearly stood out as a winner. ...
Pros: Cheap 'upgrade' for Deluxe Economy, OK seats Cons: Poor in-flight entertainment, average food
I first flew with Eva way back in '95, and back then their version of Deluxe Economy was ground-breaking and good value. These days everyone's doing it, so is Evergreen Deluxe still with the extra?
Pros: Good leg room Cons: Bad next day connection policy - forfeit passport, no leaving hotel
I have flown Eva Air from the Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to San Francisco via Taipei, Penang, Malaysia to Taipei and Singapore to San Francisco via Taipei. Some of the days you cannot make a direct connecting flight and will have to stay overnight in Taipei...
Pros: Nothing, just crappy food, seats and they realy don't care. Cons: If you don't have a choice but this air line then STAY HOME !
My wife and I have traveled twice on Eva Air from Vancouver Canada to Bangkok & return in 2004 & 06. We are not happy and they tried to make us unhappy 1: By not giving us the seats we asked for and booked on line, requested for a reason, the other ...
Pros: non-stop flight Cons: No cancellation notification, hard to understand customer service, difficulty getting refund
Reserved a flight from Los Angeles to Japan. Chose EVA because of price, non-stop flight, and recommendations. Three weeks before my departure I was told by a friend that my flight was cancelled. I did not receive a call of email from ...
Pros: Food is excellent! Cons: Poor customer service and no communication skill.
I just had a trip back to TPE from LAX on May 7th, and my carry-on luggage was asked to be checked in and items were taken. A small name brand purse and a bottle of perfume were taken which cost over $200 USD in total. About 20 25 ...
Pros: It got me there and back Cons: 'its controlled by Taipei', passenger check-in system

Pros: A nice airline with young fleet of B747-400 Cons: Bad airline representatives at LAX, flight attendants lack good customer service.
Eventhough EVA Airways is one of the newer airlines in the Asia/Pacific Rim, it remains to be seen. Compared to other Asian carriers such as Singapore Airlines, ANA, and JAL, EVA Air does not have the luxury cabin amenties and layout that it should...
Eva Long trip = Great Experience by erikamaria ,Mar 14 '05
Pros: Excellent service, Delicious Food, Plenty of drinks, good movies selection, the best! Cons: just Asia Destinations.
This is the first time that I've made a really long trip (20 hours) from Vancouver to Bangkok (one stop in Taiwan) and I was booked in Eva Air. I haven't heard anything about this great airline, but now I just can say that they are so good!!! there is plenty of food, juices and water. Fly attendants are so nice and all the time ready to help the people.. Lucky me that I fly to Thailand in Eva. Excellent service. When I came back, I felt sick on Taiwan, and they were ready to help me ever. Thanks a lot !!
So, if you have never heard about it, and you have doubts.. forget it, and if you still have the chance, go for the evergreen update. Is worth it.. I fly on economic, and although it was good.. evergreen rocks!
Have a nice trip,
Erika
EVA. The best airline you have never heard of by tomandgerry ,Dec 16 '08
Pros: Comfort, service and food. Cons: Why do the FA's have Western name badges?
We flew from London to Brisbane via Bangkok in Premium Laurel Class. Loved the comfort, food, service. Am now looking at their routes to use them again for our next trip. far better than the other "major" airlines
Lost my luggage >>> Got my luggage, but it'd have been much easier(?) by smaketh ,Jan 24 '08
Pros: Rightfully priced tickets for excellence beyond service. Easily explored on web and/or by directories. Cons: Should have at least one staff at the information booth instead of the useless sign.
My gratitude for their frugally priced tickets in return of world class services for many of my last few flights, may not be simply expressed by words- BUT now I am stuck here at Suvarnabhumi airport in Thailand waiting for my luggage which "I" forgot, therefore I called >>> been told to come and just pick it up >>> and have been waiting for the past 48 hours or so--- in front of EVA Air booth at the airport, which seems to have been currently operable, BUT no one... anyone ever was here. Please hire some staffs to be at this location, so that I may pick up my luggage. Will be here waiting... and thank you.
Updated and upgraded as of current-! Check it out. :)
>>>>>
Yesss-! I have got my luggage now in a well-maintained condition and very helpful guidance from staffs. The only trick to this is to go to EVA Air check-in counter about an hour or so, prior to their daily flights schedule. Thanks again for restoring my perspective in today's widespread money-make-the-world-goes-'round business practice. I hope this information would help out any members whose situation are similar to mine.
EVA Airlines; Los Angeles to Hanoi (Super Business) by jgb_514 ,May 11 '05
Pros: Reasonably priced premium service (Super Business Class). Cons: No in-chair computer power outlets on the planes.
Wireless Internet wouldn't connect in Evergreen Lounges.
Flew Super Business Class from LAX to Taipei, then on to Hanoi International late April, 2005, returned early May. Cabin arrangement, service, comfort, etc., was quite good, but most particularly thought it was very reasonably priced (not cheap, but reasonable; especially considering the exorbitant prices that U.S. airlines try to charge for upgraded service). Will definitely be my carrier of choice for Asia in the future, assuming that they continue to keep their pricing in line.
new aircraft flying from TPE to NYC by goldcardmember ,Feb 28 '08
Pros: None Cons: As stated
I have always flied EVA from TPE to NYC and other locations in Europe2 and Japan and more recently to SE Asia.
Recently, EVA changes their air craft TPE-EWR from 747 to 777(?). I have the following comments:
1. Economy Delux has always been the best value but no longer since the change of aircraft.
2. Seat design: seat foot step is short and no longer in comfortable 3 sections but only in 2 sections. Passengers' feet are left hanging. Seat back support need 5 more degrees decline.
3. Economy Delux area is now less seats and much smaller without any open area as in the past. On the contrary, Economy class have several open space around the exit and kitchen. BTW, The 2 bathrooms are always occupied by passengers from the economy class passengers. Curtain divider is very less respected.
4. Economy Delux is now no where near kitchen(or stewardess temp rest area) hence no open space and receive little attention from stewardess. Compare with 747, now the ED class is not worth its money.
If you travel to SE Asia you may want to consider Eva by hpia4v2 ,Nov 10 '06
Pros: In the air service is comparable to singapore airline Cons: Ground service could be more friendlier, and ease up on weight limit for lugages.
I travel a lot to SE asia mainly to Singapore and Indonesia from Seattle.
Singapore airlines forces me to take a flight to either LA or SF which I don't like so EVA is my only choice (though China airlines open route from Seattle now). The deluxe class is a nice compromise, about $200 more than regular coach with your own entertainment systems, wider seats, more leg rooms and fewer passenger to share bathroom with (hey on 12 hour flight that can make or break your travel experience).
But they seems very uptight about over the limit lugage, so make sure each piece is within limit both size and weight or they ask you to pay more or move belongings from over-weight lugage to the one that is not (translation - big time hazzle).
Eva international flights by heeheehaahaa ,Sep 02 '04
Pros: easy and comfortable ride Cons: more food!
I have a ride from Macau China to Los Angeles recently. There is a stop over in Taiwan for around two hours. I found out that this airline improves a lot in many different ways.
From Macau to Taiwan trip, the seats are very comfortable. There is a small tv for each passenger in the economy class. As for the seat, there is a compartment for the user to rest their legs on. And the seat can really laid back, likely a massaging chair. The food is good but not enough for adults. One can even have chinese breakfast, such as thousand year old eggs & pork porridge with dried pork delights. (Delicious and Taiwan's specialty food) But on the Taiwan to Los Angeles trip, the chair could not stretched out that much. And it is still more spacious than Luthansa or Thai Airline. (To my surprise) The air hostesses are helpful and friendly.
The movies showing are pretty up-to-date. One of them is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
EVA Air Is Average, Don't expect good service. by thea_key ,Apr 01 '08
Pros: The overall price of an airline ticket is somewhat cheaper than other airlines. Cons: Don't expect good service, unless you contently nag the flight attendants. Their food suck.
Eva Air service is somewhat below average. You constantly have to buzz for the flight attendant if want to stay hydrate on your long flight to Taipei. If you expect average food on the
plane, forget about it. Let just say that your scramble eggs is watered down and the sausage taste like plastic. Stick with a cup of noodle, because you're probable better off.
Pros: relatively cheap price Cons: they lie
foods are not good
I fly EVA for a few times-to BKK from LAX and back so I got up to their Silver card,to maintain the status I need 40000 miles
in 2007 I got 40021 valid miles but EVA downgrade me to green card
I called them to ask about this and EVA said I do not have enough miles to maintain my silver card
also you will not be able to select the seat of your choice, the choice seats are not available to people that have no connection to the airline
I selected my seat and then got bump to other seat, the EVA told me that they change the plane but it was the same plane
the check in line were confusing, I fly EVA deluxe, in some airport you check in with business class,in some airport you check in with economy class
the level of service are much better with Thai and Singapore Airline and on par with AA,UA but better than NWA
Pros: food was acceptable. flight record : safety Ok Cons: no cocktails, no beer
video / audio
pilots does not talk
Crew no English
I am not impressed at all about Eva, except for the flight record's safety history (no accident since 1991).
I flew in an Airbus 330-200 today from Taipeh from Tokyo.
1. the English language ability of the crew is not satisfying : e.g. it took me 5 minutes to communicate a wodka-tonic to the crew.
2. The video and audio presentation was a nightmare :
the moview stucked all 2-4 minutes and then continued and the audio channels took 5 secondes to change one. This penomena occured not only at my seat.
3. the pilot did not talk at all to the passengers except shortly before arrival and then in bad English. This gave me not a very confident feeling there.
I flew the first time with Eva Air ........ and the last time. Eva seems better than China Airline only for the safety record.
Pros: Pretty good safety record, and not much of turbulence. Cons: Flight attendants are ugly, and the service was bad.
I flew from LAX to TPE, and i get to sit on their 777 rainboe livery plane. The flight attendants were ugly. I pressed the service button, and they came after 5 minutes and i asked for a cup of milk, and they forgot it. They gave me my milk when i called her the second time. The meals on the plane was bad too.
Terrible -- Avoid It If You Can by ofrielpc ,Mar 11 '07
Pros: Absolutely none. Cons: Customer service is non-existent.
I have been fighting for more than a year for compensation for a variety of high value items rifled from my bag while flying EVA business class from the Philippines to Japan. EVA staff have been unresponsive to repeated telephone calls and letters, and entirely unhelpful in resolving the problem. If you have a choice, don't fly EVA.
