Pros: Attendants are very accomodating IN SPITE of their company using this old cruddy plane Cons: When you pay over $5000.00 for a business class ticket, you expect business class service!
I flew on June 20, 2009 on KE 001 from Seoul to Los Angeles via Tokyo. This flight was flawed from the beginning. When I boarded this flight in Seoul, I noticed we were using a B777-200 instead of a B747 with the proper Business Class ...

Pros: Attractively dressed stewardesses Cons: Poor service, lack of generous services onboard, no entertainment system, no mid flight snacks,

Pros: Great cabin crew service. Cons: An idiot pilot who likes cabin temperature at 82F with no airflow.

Pros: friendly attentive employees, good food good movies, excellent restrooms Cons: O'Hare Airport

This airline has received much bad press. Although popular with some independent travelers for its low fare, it is generally held in suspicion by most travelers. It should be. It is a poorly run airline with seriously damaged reputation.

Pros: Impeccable service, good food. Cons: None that I can think of.
I've flown Korean Air many times in my life, and have sat in all three classes---Economy, Business and First. I have been very satisfied with all three considering the differing levels of service between classes.
I heard a real shocking story from a friend of mine who works for Korean air and decided to share the information.
He said that there is funny military culture in KAL. Specifically, the pilots in KAL think it to be brave that dare flying in bad...

Pros: Good service, food is edible Cons: Non-existent smoking section

Warning when on a 777-200/ER by duckbear ,May 11 '09
Pros: Excellent cabin staff. On time. Cons: 2-5-2- seating.
Dallas (DFW) to Seoul (ICN) and return economy. Warning: make certain of your seat assignment. Korean is now flying the 777-200/ER which is the same as the 777-200 Ver. 2 (772) on this route. The seat configuration is 2-5-2. Passengers in the middle seat of the 5 in a row seats felt like they were trapped for 14 hours. One person said, “I felt like I was being tortured.” There was no AVOD entertainment system at any seat. The KAL Lounge in Seoul refused to honor my KAL Lounge Pass which was issued in Dallas. Cabin service was excellent. The food was fair. Eva or Asian Airlines are better values.
Crashe Rating Korean Airline compare to good service with cheap prices by kys77 ,Dec 08 '08
Pros: Good critics Cons: Bad ranking
Just wanted to book my flight with korean airline.. cheap and good service.. But than I read the ranking... 717 killed in the last 30 years and a few accidents.. Other airlines almost none.. Now I am scared..
Pros: pretty flight attendants, new aircraft Cons: staff, food edible but barely
My husband and I recently flew on Korean Air, Chicago to Seoul, connecting to Teagu, business class and I am sorry to say I will not be repeating the experience. Frigid cold staff at the counter, no smile, no good morning, stuffy , overcrowded lounge with no breathing room, frantic looking manager running all over the place at the gate (almost got tripped by him), made me even more nervous when the barely understandable boarding announcement came on and it turned out that the boarding time will be half an hour late due to "technical difficulties." On board, a surprisingly attentive crew, very polite if a bit overworked and understaffed. The connecting flight was a bit better as it was right on time but the aircraft was a but worn and in need of improvement. Landed on time but would not repeat the whole experience with this airline.
When we moved to Korea, it was the first time I had been on a plane in nearly 30 years. I had heard airline horror stories, and I was not expecting much - leery actually. The only consideration for purchasing this ticket was the cost, and you know what they say - you get what you pay for. I had prepared myself for everything that could go wrong, but Korea Air showed me what happens when everything goes right. From ticketing to baggage, service was wonderful, and our arrivals were not only on time, we were early!
The food was quite tasty for airline food. I chose the Korean dish, but my less adventurous daughters selected the American entree. Both were very good, and a constant stream of snacks, juice and water kept us all satisfied for the entire 17 hour flight.
Uneventful is no accident, it requires hard work by conscientious employees. Other airlines could take a lesson from Korean Air.
Pros: Friendly service in all classes, not too pricey, excellent food. Cons: none
I am a business man who has to travel throughout the Asian region frequently. I always make Korean Air my first choice. Their mileage system is fair, the staff are caring in all classes of the plane so I consider to be a good airline. Check in is efficient and always with a smile. Most of all the food, for airline fare such as the "bibimbap" (a Korean spicy rice dish) travels well and is the best in the skies.
Wouldn't want to do it again!!! by kazzbo ,Nov 17 '07
Pros: Punctual at leaving, actually left early... Very polite stewards. Cons: Decided lack of services, cramped and boring flight!
I flew from London-Heathrow to Brisbane, via Seoul...
London to Korea wasn't too bad, but flying from Seoul to Brisbane and back again was attrocious!
No consoles, one screen at the front of the plane, no way of seeing it if people are in seats in front of you and High School Musical 2! That was a bad flight!
Its a very long trip to be cramped and bored, especially if there are children around you.
We are told that we stay overnight at Seoul and are given dinner and breakfast vouchers... Reality is, breakfast is awesome but dinner... you are escorted through the restaurant to the back. You are told that you are having anti-pasta, pasta and tirimisu, no choice, no variation. I don't eat pork so the salad was a no-no, 6 pieces of pasta with a skimming of tomato and mushroom sauce... Sadly I don't like coffee so the dessert was gone too. Hmm 6 bits of pasta aren't enough for a meal!
Wouldn't fly Korean again, even though they are cheap(ish)
Cattle car. Make sure which plane you are on by hanuman67 ,Jun 24 '07
Pros: Friendly inflight crew.
Inflight entertainment in newest aircraft Cons: Food
Older aircraft very crowded.
Overstated Sky Team benefits
Your experience in coach will vary with the equipment you fly. Some equipment is set up 9 across (2-5-2) and jammed, while others are set up 3-3-3 which is much nicer with up to date inflight entertainment systems. Food is VERY mediocre, while flight crew is pleasant. I'm not looking forward to flying them again, but if I had to, it would be ok.
Oh, be very careful about putting too much stock in their Sky Team partnership. Their booking agent vastly overstated the benefits and mileage commitments.
Pros: Comfortable and Kind Cons: What a long freaking flight!
I flew from LA or SF (not sure) to Seoul Korea and there was plenty of room for me (6'3" 250lbs) the people were interesting and the movies were good, the best thing about it was I got some free junk like socks and an eye mask which I still use. The stewardess's were attractive too (hehehe).
Pros: kissable lickable flight attendants.
Cons: bad meal including that stupid bi-bim-bob
you would see a lot of unfriendly check in clerks at incheon international airport. never smile.
there were about 5 or 6 clerks checking passports and boarding passes. 3 of them were male in their early 30's
just acted as if they were somebodies. i just wanted to punch their poker faces until their eyeballs popping out
so that i could crush them on the floor. also, one of others was male in his50's holding walkie talkie in his hand, not cool at all. they are all wearing a suit 365 days a year. i bet they would wear it in zzzim zeal bang(korean public bath, and sooo many sauna rooms in site)
as well.
This is a reliable airline with good service by braveviet ,Jul 29 '06
Pros: Good service during the whole long journey Cons: not so helpful during the transit in Incheon airport
In 2005 I flew from Vietnam to US with Korean Air. That was the first time I have traveled abroad, of course nervous. But their service was absolutely good on board, lasting during the long journey for almost 20 hours. The stewards always smile with you and provide fast respond. I felt really comfortable. Their food is much better than that from other airlines such as China airline or AA, Delta... There is a wide variety of food for you to choose, and you can ask for extra drink without extra charge. Only the restroom is a little small and always crowded.
I used Korean Air from Narita to LAX. I would say that the maintenance of the aircraft is very poor.... Very DIRTY when we boarded the plane. Food was cold - imagine cold stir-fry beansprout. Yes, it's cheap but won't fly with Korean Air again ... My favourite are SwissAir, Japan Airlines, Singapore Airlines...
It was my first trip to South Korea on Korean Air. It took me to Seoul and on that same morning I took a connecting flight to Jeju Island via Kimpo Airport.
Kuala Lumpur-Seoul
Seoul- Jeju Island
Jeju Island-Busan
Seoul- Kuala Lumpur
The on board service lack the warm smiles that other airlines gladly give out. The speaker for the flight safety is unclear rendering the whole flight safety useless as I could not listen to it.
Bad service. I was not offered my supper and when ask why the flight attendant found a pathetic answer-"You were sleeping sir"-I was wide awake and talking to the passenger next to me.
Although the flight was uneventful and on time throughout my whole Korea trip, if such service as smiles could not be dispense freely and sincerely then my advice to myself is to not fly Korean Air in the future.
Love flying Korean Air by frankfrensch ,Oct 30 '03
Pros: Very good service, punctual, very kind flight attendants Cons: Nothing to complain about
I have flown on Korean Air from Frankfurt to Seoul several times over the past few years and I have to say, that they really have a very good service. Specially I love to eat the Bibimbab on my trips to Korea. This year I also have done some domestic flights on Korean Air and service was great as well. All in all I would rate this airline as one of the best airlines to fly this.
End of the 90s Korean Air's safety record went down. But since that time there safety record improved a lot and nowadays I think there is no need to worry about flying with them anymore.
