Pros: High quality service in the best and safest aircraft Cons: businesslike service
I have flown Luftansa to Europe many times and find this airline to
be top notch. They fly the European Airbus which is a great aircraft
and the seats are comfortable. The aircraft is always clean and
the service is very good. Although...

Pros: Very homie airline very mature planes and not shaky Cons: You cant understand the waiters, you may have to ask to speak in english also,
This Airline is hard to pick up as one of what we know. It is a German Airline that is real hard to get right for the reason that there are so many gapholes when traveling Europe. This is one of the major european jets that fly throughout europe and...

Pros: Nice headrests Cons: The usual-cramped seats
I have traveled with Lufthansa Airlines on numerous occasions, and have never been more satisfied with my air travel. The last time, when I was flying to Finland, I had a little more luggage than was allowed. Rather than be rude and ask me to check it...

Pros: Lufthansa is often inexpensive when compared to United or Virgin Atlantic. Cons: You pay dividends for any savings if your flight is anything but smooth.
The following is a copy of the letter I sent to Lufthansa, I have yet to receive a reply. I get the same quality of a reply from the Lufthansa Reservations desk. Our October 7th 2009 flight was the first flight with Lufthansa since September 2007 ...

Are Lufthansa's economy seats made for short, thin people and where are the PTV's?
by airline_critic ,Oct 17 '04
Pros: Good Food Cons: No PTV's and the seats are too close together.
The seats in Lufthansa economy class are too close together. I recently flew Lufthansa from New York to Frankfurt and I was very 'squashed' in my seat. My knees were touching the seat in front of me and I could barely move. when I reclined my seat the person in back of me complained that my seat was hitting him. What's wrong with Lufthansa? When Compared to American Airlines Lufthansa has some of the worst seating plans in the airline industry (especially in economy). Lufthansa only gives PTV's to their Business and First Class Passengers where as most other European Airlines offer them in all classes if service. On the 8 hour flight only a moving map was shown and some European news.

For long distances, pick another airline
by jchayes448 ,Mar 18 '07
Pros: I made my connecting flight Cons: Seating comfort, service, shabby furnishings.
I took an overnight economy-class flight from San Francisco to Frankfurt, and it was undoubtedly the most uncomfortable flight I've ever had. Seats are incredibly cramped, and, because they have so little space in which to operate, only recline one or two-inches. This is unforgivable on an 11-hour overnight flight. Service ranged from rude to indifferent and food was so-so. The seat tray was broken and the interior seemed to be generally shabby.

Terrible!
by frank5555 ,Jan 07 '07
Pros: None. Cons: Ridiculously bad customer service.
So they made me buy another ticket to get on a flight I already had a ticket for because they couldn't figure out how to void my ticket and reissue it. They said it wouldn't be a problem and I would get an immediate refund. I was like whatever my flight is leaving give me a ticket. So they charged me 3500 bucks. Six months later no refund. I have sent 12 faxes made at least 30 calls wrote four letters and haven't even been able to talk to someone who can fix my problem. They keep telling me that the refund department doesn't have a phone. Come on. Who doesn't have a phone in 2007. Obviously, they save a lot of money by screwing people until they finally give up. Stay away!

Lufthansa = Rude / Ignorant Behavior
by rohnin4hire ,May 11 '07
Pros: An option for connections to parts of Germany. Cons: Rude, cavalier, argumentative behavior.
Pre-flight service was nearly non-existent. Post booking service was non-existent. Service Center personnel missed their calling as IRS agents, more concerned about keeping their customers lined up waiting for help than actually helping them. Flight crew apparently believes that a Lufthansa uniform entitles them to ignore US Customs agent instructions and push their way through the passengers to get to their curbside cigarettes and hotel transportation. Without a doubt the most consistently rude and socially ignorant service sector personnel I've ever encountered. I've been doing international travel for approximately 20 years and this is the worst airline I've ever flown to either Europe or Asia. Fortunately, there are options and I will definitely be availing myself of KLM/Northwest for my future trips to Germany and France.

Bad bad bad
by nettan ,Jan 26 '08
Pros: Good service on the way from Orlando to Frankfurt. Cons: Delays, SEATING, service, food
We flew from Frankfurt to Orlando on December 26 and had the WORST experience ever !! We are a family of four and we were told that our 12 and 16 years old children were old enough not to sit with the rest of the family. We are four people and got seats very far from each other, all of us. No one could help us. When we got on the plane we had to ask around, if someone could change seat with us. Our son, 12 year old, was heartbroken. Therefor, We give this airline 0 out of 5.

Average among major international airlines
by Prim8Pal ,May 29 '04
Pros: On time and efficient. Cons: Food and wine are below average among major international carriers.
I flew Lufthansa on four intercontinental legs between the U.S., Africa and Germany in May 2004. All our flights were on-time which is always a big plus. Planes were generally clean and service was okay but not exceptional. However, Lufthansa fell short of other airlines that I've used (like British Air, Air France, Cathay Pacific, and Singapore) in several areas:
Meals on all our flights were not very good. The wines were particularly wretched. They do not serve nuts or other snacks with cocktails, so bring your own.
The planes from San Francisco to Germany were not the most modern. They still had the overhead screens instead of personalized screens at your seat. Only 2 movies and a few short subjects on a long 10 hour flight, with long gaps between the shows.
They tend to be a bit strict about enforcing the one carry-on rule, which can be good or bad depending on your point of view. Be moderate on the size of the carry-ons you take.
Overall the airline is acceptable but not as good as other major carriers.

Worst International Flights for Economy Class..
by msu_pluto ,Jul 02 '08
Pros: Short waiting with connecting flights (in Frankfurt from SFO to India) Cons: Everything else - food, service, worst IFE, lazy attendants.
Poor Service with rude attendants. Did not respond to attendant call button for FIVE MINUTES! Average Food. Worst In-flight entertainment in the whole industry. Never Fly Lufthansa.

Teutonic efficiency triumphs again
by Champale ,Jun 30 '04
Pros: Clean bathrooms. German efficiency. On time for everything. Cons: Some flights deplane on the tarmac. Not a big bummer though.
Boondoggle of all time. My company sends me to Cannes, France for a week for a job well done. I, being no dummy, use my Platinum Amex card to bring my wife along as well.
Amex books us on Lufthansa.
I've never had any experience with them so turn to trusty epinions for the scoop.
Turns out, Lufthansa is great. Well, business class at least.
The flight attendants were friendlier than I had expected from other reviews. The food was pretty good. The fish tasted as fresh as can be expected. The chicken with pesto was the real winner though.
Flights were on time. Bathrooms in the plane were remarkably clean. By the end of most ten hour flights, I'm afraid to enter the bathrooms but they were pretty spotless.
All in all, we had no complaints and in fact I would gladly fly Lufthansa again.

Horrible experience at Frankfurt
by ptan1 ,Sep 21 '07
Pros: None. Cons: Horrible service, Horrible attitude
Lufthansa could not fly to my destination because of weather and fog. Instead of saying there is a 18 hours of delay, they delayed it 6 hours at a time. Thus, they do not have to provide for accommodations. The whole flight 500+ customers remained at the airport without sleep or decent food.
Never flew with them again.

Worst Atlantic crossing I've ever had
by geotrash ,Oct 29 '05
Pros: Flight attendants were pleasant and efficient, flights were on time. Cons: Economy seating is the worst I've seen, difficult to get seat assignments prior to flight.
Just returned from a trip to France for business mixed with pleasure, and wanted to offer a few impressions of Lufthansa. First, the good: efficiency and service friendliness.
Unfortunately, that's where it ends. The economy class seats on the 747 are the most horrifically cramped I have ever experienced on an international flight. Add to that that I was unable to get assigned seats together months before our departure, despite polite phone calls and an early check-in on the day of the flight, and it made for the worst airline experience I've had in recent memory. Absolutely miserable for a 6 foot tall person like me.
Last trip on Lufthansa for me. Standby passengers had better seats than we did.

German INeffiency
by brittski ,Aug 20 '08
Pros: Flies from my nearest airport Cons: Everything else
In the last two months i've flown Lufthansa from LCY to MUC three times, on two of those occasions i've had flights cancelled with no prior warning. Though i understand these things happen, the airline's handling of the situation has been less than satisfactory. The first time i was rerouted to LHR instead of LCY which imposed significant extra cost and many wasted hours. The second time i was delayed from LCY until 24 hours later. When i was finally on my way, the next day, i was told that they now have a new policy whereby only business class passengers can have drinks, i wasn't even permitted to buy one. Do they really think anybody in their right mind would pay three times the economy fare to sit in exactly the same size seat in order to drink ԅ worth of wine? In neither case was i able to claim any compensation whatsoever. The staff are unhelpful to the point of rudeness and even though passengers are supposed to be protected under EC Regulation 261/2004 Lufthansa always plays the "extraordinary circumstances" card. Neither myself, nor anybody else in my company, will ever fly Lufthansa again.
