Pros: The flight attendant was nice.... Cons: Will not accept responsibility for any issue.

Taca is the #1 Worst Airline for the following reasons:

Pros: great clean aircraft, timely landings, nice flight attendants, convenient connection, competitive prices Cons: strict 1 hour before departure check-in cut-off time
We flew TACA from Maimi to San Jose, Costa Rica on May 20, 2006 and then from San Jose, Costa Rica to San Francisco on May 29, 2006. On the way back we had to change planes in El Salvador.
We loved everything about the airline except for one thing you should be cautious about. We got to Miami airport TACA check-in counter 56 minutes before the flight (which is usually plenty of time), and the check in person informed us that TACA HAS A STRICT CHECK-IN CUT-OFF OF 1 HOUR and that we cannot fly on this flight anymore, which was a bummer. After 5 mins of negotiation and some phone calls that the check-in manager made, we were checked-in.
Other than that the experience was outstanding. Good very clean aircraft, eatable meal for purchase, friendly flight attendants, free alcohol and good coffee on board, very convenient connection in El Salvador (next door gate), timely landings in both flights.
We will definitely use TACA for all our Central America flights.
Pros: New aircraft. Helpful TACA staff in Miami. Cons: Poor customer service at Managua airport.
Flying from Paris then Miami to Managua. A number of passengers either failed to transfer in the allocated time or their baggage never arrived (about 6 people on my flight).
Many travellers told me this was a regular occurrence on this route. This is not all TACAs fault, but it was difficult to contact them at the airport and on returning home that have ignored my e mail requests for confirmation of my baggages 48 hour delay.
Pros: nothing Cons: Read above... Can't get much worse.
Horrible...
We arrived two hours early for our 2:00 AM flight from LAX to Belize after buying the ticket (and prepaying all of our hotels/activities) months in advance. I was actually amazed for the first time by just how inefficient a waiting line could be... After an hour of not moving, we got bumped to the front. Obviously, I never even considered that the flight would be an issue, but I was wrong.
We got to the front of the check-in line before security, and they told us our flight was overbooked, and we couldn't get on. Not only that, but they couldn't get us on a flight until 24 hours later, so we lost out on about $600 of hotel and activity costs. What did we get for this trouble? 2 vouchers on an airline we will never fly again. Why not check with other passengers for volunteers like, umm, every other airline does... I am sure some people would have been willing to get bumped for a voucher. Not people who had prepaid for their only vacation of the year...
Pros: They did not crash the Plane as far as I know. Cons: Lost baggage, worthless voucher, No food,
Never fly on Taca. They are horrible. They lost one of our bags so they gave us a $50 voucher. The voucher is only good for flying with them in the next 12 months which they obviously know you won't cause you will probably have more bad experiences with them. Which we did. They won't even let you use the voucher to buy food on the Airplane. Which they won't telll you until after they have told you to wait and the rest of the people on the flight are getting in line. Then once they guy has called everyone and they have all lined up he will tell you that you can only use it for airfare. Not that we could have bought any food cause the people at Taca can't count and didn't put enough food on the plane for everyone. So they just gave a few bags of chips that were probably made of some type of saw dust. And they people didn't even care that they didn't have any food and were not least bit sorry.
Don't count on getting your luggage by hrothgarland ,Jan 09 '04
Pros: We made it home alive Cons: Lost baggage, more than a week to return it, bad service
In a group of 6 people traveling, we lost 5 bags. On the flight that I was on, 10-15 other people also lost their baggage. Tomorrow will be one week since we landed, and they still have yet to send my luggage, even though they found it a couple of days ago.

When I call them, I have to let it ring more than 15 times in order for someone to pick up. The representative in baggage will not give me his name, nor his supervisors, nor his supervisor's contact information.

I am told that I will receive $25 a day as compensation for this, but the maximum is 3 days, which I have already doubled. To top this off, in order to receive the compensation, I will have to travel to the airport, which is >4 hrs away, and sign some forms. Apparently, doing this through the mail or by fax is unacceptable.

The quality of the flight itself was acceptable. The flight was smooth enough, and the food was tolerable. I would recommend TACA only if you plan to pack everything in your carry-on.

Pros: on time, courteous, good meals, overall happy Cons: seats a little hard
Honestly, I had zero problems with Taca. The in flight meals, though $5 were amazing, and who can complain that the meal was $5 when all liquor and beverages are free. Luggage made it there and back even with a total of 6 connecting flights. Cheapest, on time, and clean aircraft.
Pros: Clean comfortable planes, nice flight crew Cons: Lying, incompetent, apathetic, impersonal, lost luggage, long delays, nightmare from hell experience
I flew Taca last week for the second time. The first time, it was a great experience. This last time it was the nightmare that would not end. The flight crew was great and the planes were comfortable and clean. Everything else was rotten. Long delays, impersonal service, incompetent people, constantly being lied to, lost luggage, no effort to help any of us, starving us, complete lack of communication, and apathetic ground staff are some of the words that come to mind. Save yourself the hassle and pay the few extra bucks to go another airline. It's well worth it. I'll never fly Taca again!
On time -- what more do you really need? by bildungsroman ,Feb 18 '04
Pros: On-time Cons: food
I flew Taca to Guatemala City from JFK and back for the first time this past weekend. Before that I flew Continental twice within the past year. Although I was hesitant to fly TACA, their schedule was the most convenient -- an hour lay-over each way in San Salvador, El Salvador. I'm glad that I made that choice.
The flights all left on time and usually arrived before scheduled. What more do you really want from an airline nowadays? The food was pitiful, but the drinks flowed freely. As for luggage handling, I can't say, I carried my bag on. TACA stresses a 22 kg limit on carry-ons, but they never weighed my bag.
I would certainly fly them again. Hint: Ask for emergency row seats! My impression is that it's only gringos asking because the typical Latin American flier isn't taking advantage of this feature.
Pros: Les expensive, courteous, on-time, clean cabins, no line-up at check-in Cons: Can't think of any!
Flew Cusco to Lima, then Lima to Quito return in October 09. All flights on time, no lineups at check-in, no lost luggage, staff very courteous, good snack, lots of leg room. Also, cheapest flight between Cusco and Lima
