Pros: Cheaper than domestic airlines, free food included, more leg room Cons: Not technologically advanced, old planes
Mexicana is a well-known Mexican airline that was established by two US expatriates in Mexico as the first national air carrier in 1924. Interestingly, it is the worlds fourth oldest airline (KLM, Avianca, and Qantas flew first). It flies within ...

Pros: Comfortable seats with a lot of legroom. Cons: A very, very noisy plane.
We recently flew to Cozumel from Cancun (Boston to Miami to Cancun!) and this last leg was on Mexicana. We also flew from Cozumel to Cancun on the way home on Mexicana. The planes were just slightly different and I will note the differences later....

Pros: The best and most food I have received on an airline in years. Cons: Video/music on 1 hr flight-no movie or music on 4hr flight!
I have taken a lot of flights in my fifty years but they have mostly been domestic. I have seen a deterioration of service over the years with domestic flights especially in regard to food. I am not sure that it is fair to compare an international...

Pros: Good food and great crew Cons: none
On our way back from Ixtapa, Mexico we had to fly Mexicana Air. We flew from Ixtapa to Mexico City and then took a connecting flight to Chicago. I was impressed at how easy it was to get around the Mexico City airport. We had no problem finding our...

Pros: on time, smiling flight attendants, great food Cons: none really
On my Thanksgiving trip to Puerto Vallarta, I chose this year to use Mexicana Airlines. I made the right decision. Checking in at LAX was a breeze. There were no hassles with getting the baggage checked and the attendant went out of her way to get us...

Pros: Free booze in coach. Chance to practice Spanish. Cons: Same as all airlines
Mexicana is as good as any US airline, which isn't saying much, but if your're planning a trip and you find Mexicana offers the best combination of convenience and cost, don't hesitate to take it.
I've made two round trips from San José,...

Pros: friendly Cons: poor leg room in coach
Mexicana is very friendly. I flew Miami-Cancun-Miami and both flights on time, nice flight attendants, but poor coach seats (not enough leg room space). The flight was like an hour and 15 minutes so I didn't mind the lack of leg room. The pilot even said...

Pros: none. Cons: Unhelpful staff, unwilling to take responsibility for passengers, slow to respond, consistently late flights
UPDATE: One year later and still no reimbursement for the tickets we were forced to purchased after they stranded us in Lima, Peru. My sister has unsuccessfully called on a nearly weekly basis and gotten the runaround each and every time. The agent in ...

Pros: cheap (and it shows) Cons: changed my flight without notification, has serious delayed flights, and poor customer service
I found booking and flying with Mexicana Airlines a terrible experience. I found the customer service to be particularly egregious- inconsistent and ineffective. I would NOT recommend any of my friends, family or colleagues to fly with ...

Pros: Good frequency to Mexico City, plus benefit of Mileage Plus miles Cons: Cumbersome check-in in Mexico City
Just back from another trip to Mexico City, using free miles from United.
Tip #1: For 30K United miles you get round trip on Mexicana, with BETTER service, than the 35K award by flying on United itself.
Tip #2: I had an exit row...
