Pros: Friendly and courteous service, meal service is adequate Cons: Bahrain International Airport is a bit shabby, cramped seats and legroom
Some thirteen years ago, Gulf Air flew from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York to Bahrain with a stop in Laranaca, Cyprus. Luckily for me and my family, Larnaca was our final destination, and we took advantage of this flight a couple of ...
“The falcon flies for you over 50 destinations worldwide.” This is a fact. Gulf Air has been in operation since the 1950’s. This is a lesser known fact. Their inadequacies are legendary. This is the reverberating and most known fact about Gulf...
Pros: Staff are very personable. Cons: Some other Airlines offer better Economy.
General GF have recently appointed an Australian CEO who is making some major changes to this GCC based Airline, with government shares from the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar. Check-In Although only a short flight, you must still allow for two hour c ...
Pros: ??? Cons: A lifetime is not enough to fully describe their tortures!
In my extensive travels around the world, I have only come across a few select airlines that truly deserve the "Flying Trash-can" award. Gulf Air is one of these fore-mentioned airlines.
Pros: Nothing that I can think of Cons: Where do I start
The recent crash of Gulf airways near Bahrain brought back the vivid memories of my trips with Gulf airways. I have always had a bad experience when travelling with Gulf. The transits between flights are ridiculous long. An average transit period that I...
Pros: cheap tickets Cons: absolutely horrendous in-flight service
I was an unfortunate passenger on a Gulf Air flight between Singapore and Sydney in 1999. That one flight was enough to put me off ever flying this airline again. It was, without a doubt, the most miserable flight I've ever taken.
After living in the Middle East, I have seen the good and bad of Gulf Air.
Bad: Each and every flight I attempted on Gulf Air was either canceled, delayed, or mysteriously mis-booked.
Forget peace and quiet... in all classes of travel...
Having traveled Gulf Air for a period of 21 years (2 years - 23 years) I have seen the good and the bad on Gulf Air. I have to admit that the last trip I took was back in 1996 but talking to friends who travel it, seems like things haven't changed...
Pros: Flights to lesser flown destinations in the middle east, maybe? Cons: Atrocious service, small planes, rude, apathetic attitude towards passengers...too much to list
Gulf Air sounded like a good deal to us when we bought our tickets - the round trip fare from NY to Bombay, India was only $650 or something. We should have realized immediately that there had to be a catch. Well, there's a big catch. They're...
Pros: Excellent entertainment, new planes, great food Cons: none
I recently flew with Gulf Air to Dubai stopping off in
Bahrain, the plane to Bahrain was a brand new, an airbus A330-200,
with individual t.v.'s and phones, adjustable footrests and headrest, in economy.
The food was great traditional...
Pros: Sky nanny, new planes, great customer service attitude from management Cons: TV's on older planes on night flights
We chose to fly Gulf Air from Dublin (Ireland) to Bangkok (via Bahrain) based on price and convenient flying times. After we booked we found out about the 'Sky Nanny' service which as our son was 18 months old at the time was a great bonus. It's of ...
Pros: Good food, great Staff, new aircraft. Cons: None that I experienced.
I had a great experience on Gulf Air recently. My flight details were: GF 008 London(LHR) to Bahrain(BAH) Business class, seat 16H, on an A340 aircraft. GF 911 Bahrain(BAH) to Beirut(BEY) Coach class, seat 46H, on a 767-300 aircraft. GF 910 ...
Pros: Seats are comfortable, food is served often Cons: very bad hospitality and manners
Good Things: -They serve food quite often, so there's no chance of going hungry. Food also has some variety (chips, ice cream, warm snacks, okay hot meals)and isn't as bland as American Airlines.. -The seats aren't uncomfortably small like ...
Pros: It was fairly inexpensive. Cons: Boy, were they ever rude.
I decided to take a flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong for a short holiday and, being the cheap bastard that I am, I purchased two inexpensive economy class tickets for the flight on Gulf Air. Being an international flight, I was given the usual...
Pros: The food is good, the seats were spacious. Cons: Flight attendants need courses on good customer service. Tray tables have seen better days.
Where should I begin? On our recent trip from America to Bangladesh, we have encountered the unpleasantness of the flight attendants. The waits between the flights are too long! After five hours of wait, in Bahrain the passengers were given a shuttle to ...
Pros: Friendly cabin crew
Brilliant take off and landing made by pilot Cons: A little cramped
Could have better inflight entertainment
I recently flew Gulf from Singapore to Bahrain and was very happy with the service I recieved. On take off I did not realise we had already left the runway our plane was so quiet so I was quite shocked when I looked out the window!
Pros: Cheap ticket, good food, empty flight Cons: Mean security guards in the Bahrain airport
I recently took a Gulf Air flight from Nairobi to Frankfurt and am shocked at all the negative experiences people have had with this airline. I found it to be comfortable, with excellent food, and a friendly cabin crew. At one point I was even curious...
Pros: Nice, new Airbus 330. Friendly "local" cabin crew. Cons: Unprofessional check- in staff at Muscat, uncaring "international! cabin crew.
I flew Gulf Air from Frankfurt to Muscat, via Baharain recently and I found the seats, inflight- entertainment and inflight- service to be close to outstanding. Gulf Air's Airbus 330 was suberb!
Pros: The Crew - In Flight and On Ground The In Flight Nanny Service The Meals Cons: The Price
Cabin Appearance: Clean & Presentable. Service at Departure Airport: Efficient and Satisfactory. Seats: Regular economy seats with but better than Qatar Airways or Emirates. Meals: Commendable even for Economy class! Even though we were ...
Pros: Inexpensive .... relatively. Had very good seats on the return. Cons: Food? .... Ugh. Also,Things could go wrong & you'd be on your own.
We booked our holiday to Dubai and since we were more concerned about where we stayed than how we got there, didn't notice at first that GULFAIR was the carrier for our trip. On reading the reviews for GULFAIR here, our hearts sank ..... Had we signed up ...
Never fly Gulf Air - I Won't by coolpri ,Feb 11 '05
Pros: None really considering their cons. Cons: Lots and lots.
I recently flew by Gulf Air and it was a horrible nightmarish experience. Though the food is decent, it has more cons than pros. I agree with everything Aarthi stated about its interiors. Their customer service sucks and you just don't feel good flying with them.
I wrote a letter to Gulf Air which stated what happened with me. You can read it at http://coolpri.blogspot.com/2005/02/letter-to-gulf-air.html
Delayed Flights are a Feature of Gulf Air by madness0 ,Jan 15 '08
Pros: Nothing really. Cons: Imminent delays will leave a bad taste in your mouth!
My family took a flight of KWI-BAH-KHI. We are in the habit of flying out a bit late whenever using Gulf Air - so this time the flight took of 17 minutes late. Bearable.
However, the BAH-KHI flight was scheduled to take off on after a hour and a half of stay at BAH airport at 00:45, but was rescheduled to 02:59 (what a bright idea! send it off a minute before 3am in the morning). It did not fly out at that time. Instead, it flew at 04:15h! Imagine the pain me and my family went through at the tiny ill-equipped Bahrain airport! Our total in-transit stay was 1.5 hours plus 3.5 hours of delay!
The worst part is that these kinds of delays have happened more than once. Actually every time except once. It's about time somebody takes notice in Gulf Air and fixes things up!
Pros: Good in-flight entertainment, Good service, Good food, Flights on-time Cons: Very little leg-room, Too noisy, Transit too long
I travelled on Gulf Air from London to Islamabad via Abu Dhabi. The flight from London to Abu Dhabi was almost perfect. The 5 hour stay in Abu Dhabi was a long one as the airport is small and there is nothing much to do other than shop. The flight from Abu Dhabi to Islamabad was comparatively poor. It was too hot and noisy on the plane and the in-flight entertainment was average.
The biggest problem for me was the minimal amount of leg room. If you are a tall person I would seriousily consider another airline.
The service in the plane was excellent and the food was pretty good too with regular snacks to reinforce the main meal.
Pros: none at all Cons: delay / cleanliness / maintenance
First time and last time to travel with Gulf air ........
Route Charles Gaulle-Manila-Charles Gaulle via BAHRAIN economy
JAN 5 FEB 7
Both ways more than 2 hours delay ... no special attention given
Manila-Charles De Gaulle route
Passenger seat unscrewed .. was fixed in the air ... Toilets dirty also was the soap optional?? ...
Food nothing to be remembered .
Its seems that Gulf air is more adapted for troops transport than Passengers
In our fifty years traveling by air this was the worst journey .
Never again
Pros: Clean, comfortable, good service Cons: Flight delayed both going and coming.
Just wanted to put a recent review for this airline. My wife and I flew coach from Bangkok to Hong Kong in October 2005, because of the excellent fare from a Thai agent. I hadn't heard of this airline before, so I was a little wary, but pleasantly surprised to find a modern airplane, with individual video monitors. The service was good and friendly, the food was above average, and the seats were comfortable, if a little cramped, but things were otherwise like any other airline in the States. It was interesting to hear all cabin announcements first in Arabic, then in Thai, then in Chinese, then finally in English - thinking back, there was quite a multi-ethnic crew on that flight.
The main issue was that the flight was delayed both going and returning, by about 1 hour each time - was not sure if it was the airline or the airport's issue. Other than that, I would fly this airline again.
Pros: Excellent Vegetarian menu Cons: Nothing to complain about!
After sampling the vegetarian cuisine on many different airlines, I have no hesitation in awarding Gulf Air the top spot. The food was hot, delicious and the obliging stewards, even went so far as to offer me a choice of meals, including mains from first class. It made the journey much more enjoyable! And the rest of the service was fine, an airline I would definately travel with again!
Pros: Price but thats not good enough Cons: see above review
I have just completed SYD/BHR/LHR/BHR/SYD.
I have also just emailed my travel agent NOT to book me Gulg again. Now I understand why the fares were so cheap.
The planes were ALL old excpet for one. NO sleeper seats in First. Lounges appaling. Some service good, some service shocking. Some food good, some food appaling.Just too far removed from Singapore,Emirates,Cathy. They need to upgrade planes and facilities NOW to have a chance to catch any of the top airlines.Quatar have made the move to better everything - Gulf need to take heed
Pros: impossible honestly Cons: everything. unsatisfactory service and aircraft overall.
the flights were terrible. the check in staff never smile and never gave seats requested. food was tasteless and small in quantity. cabin crew didn't smile or be polite. hardly any leg rest space. flight stopped at more stops than printed on ticket. no in flight entertainment. Flights are always delayed. toilets dirty not well maintained
My experience of them was of being treated with contempt.
I recently had the misfortune to have a flight booked with Gulf Air, travelling Kuala Lumpur to London via Bahrain. They delayed me in Bahrain by 18 hours. Staff on the ground were unhelpful and rude. They refused to pay for a taxi, and took three hours to get me to the accomodation which was 15 minutes from the airport. The place that they gave me was not even a one star hotel, but a room in a run-down appartment block. There was no restaurant. Sheets were stained, bathrooms dirty. Returning to the airport the next day, I got more of the same unhelpful behaviour from them. They have refused to give me informatuion which would clarify their behaviour. I am now going to sue them. My suggestion is to use any other airline to avoid them.
