FAREWELL.... ADIEU..... NOW WHAT?

by JAMES23 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Jul 31 '00
Pros: Great personal service
Cons: Not anymore
It arrived in the mail the other day. A form letter from Canadian Airlines, advising me that due to the recent merger with Air Canada, my Canadian Plus points would now be transferred to the Aero Plan system.

I was thanked for my patronage,...

Pros: None
Cons: You name it.
I recently took a flight with Canadian Airlines from Sydney, Australia to Calgary, Alberta wiht my husband and small daughter (5 months). The trip cost us $4500 Australian.
I will never ever fly them again.
Given the length of the flight (1st...

An end to an era

by kayjay , Jan 02 '00
Pros: good employees,reliability,safety record
Cons: not many that I can think of
Canadian Airlines has been my airline of choice for many years. Now there is a rumor going around that they are merging with another airline and will no longer exist as Canadian Airlines. This saddens me as I have encountered many very helpful people who...

We'll miss you!

by uwe , Dec 20 '99
Pros: Excellent Service
Cons: Dated equipment
In a hostile takeover, Air Canada will gain control over Canadian. Before long, Canadian Airlines will disappear for good.

This will impact service in Canada in two ways;

1) Air Canada will operate as a virtual monopoly. This will...

Canadian Airlines

by Cobra69 , Jan 13 '00
Pros: Good Service, Good people
Cons: Older planes, Being taken over by Air Canada
Flying up North to say well Canada? Don't know what airline to take? Hmm lets think, why don't try the one with Canada in its name. Think about it, it just makes sense.

I flew Canadian when I flew to Canada and it was great. The service...

Surprisingly comfortable transpacific

by singaporeboy , Sep 23 '00
Pros: good service, tasty food
Cons: not much entertainment
Up until last year, I took Cathay Pacific on all my flights between North America and Hong Kong. One of them happened to be a codeshare with Canadian Airlines, and since it was December the other flights were fully booked. So, I took a ticket on CP,...

Get your point's worth

by smeurer8 , Nov 21 '99
Pros: Many opportunities to earn points beyond flying
Cons: Sometime slow to process points from recent flights (keep your boarding passes!!)
I have been a long time member of Canadian Airlines' Canadian Plus frequent flyer program. They are one of the few programs I have been with where your points do not expire. They have also formed an alliance with several other airlines, called One World,...

Don't bag with us!

by sunbill , Dec 13 '99
Pros: Good on-board service
Cons: No caring customer service approach
Canadian was impressive at first. But it wasn't until I arrived in Bangkok with NO luggage (I had checked three pieces at a ticket counter in the US) that I realized things were mixed up. I had attempted to make sure my luggage was on the same flight...

Canadian, not too bad!

by klyk , Oct 19 '00
Pros: Pleasant Service
Cons: Lack of In-flight Entertainment
I took Canadian CP 8 from Hong Kong to Toronto last summer (1999) with a stopover in Vancouver. The flight was delayed seven hours for departure in HKG due to technical problem. CP arranged any other aircraft which originally scheduled for route between...

A Good Sleep

by KewyCat , Apr 13 '00
Pros: Easy to watch a movie, comfortable sleeping, good dinner selection
Cons: Food is only so so, a little louder in back.
I am an annual flyer aboard the Canadian Airlines, so I must tell you that I find it one of my favorites. I am a coach passenger, and usually sit toward the rear of the plane. For this reason, I miss out on the perks of flying in a further seat forward....

Connecting Nightmare!

by Crimminal , Aug 24 '00
Pros: Make new freinds
Cons: Stressful
I think on my latest trip I spent more time waiting in airports for my connecting flight than I actually spent relaxing. And this was due mostly to good old Canadian Airlines.

There is not much that you can do about it, complaining is not...

If You Are White, You Ain't Right

by bobnewman , Jun 24 '00
Pros: They Don't Hire Those
Cons: Racism Is Rampant
Naturally, with airlines, anything that can go wrong, will go wrong, at the worst time possible and often in the most unexpected way. For example, as I write this I am in an airport, where I will be for the next six hours, thanks to Canadian Airlines....

One word to sum it all, GOOD!

by yyzflyer , Mar 14 '01
Pros: Friendly CSA, good meals, good entertainment in eco class.
Cons: Not much, prior to take over by Air Canada
Unlike many other, my family and I only travel by plane every 1-2 years. From my memory, from check-in to boarding to inflight to landing, every steps of the way were very smooth and relaxing. Their economy (or coach) class was very comfortable indeed,...
