Pros: One-way awards on Alaska which is 1/2 of roundtrip awards Cons: Almost impossible to get international flights
I've been a member of the Alaska Mileage Plan for a long time. So far, I've only been successful in redeeming domestic tickets. In the past, I tried to get flights to Asia with no success. In the last few months, I called about 10 times to get a flight ...

Pros: Earn extra miles Cons: none
I Love the Alaska frequent flyer program. I also have the Alaska credit card so I can really add up my miles with it. Their new online earn extra miles progrom for ordering your ticket on line & then checking in at the curb, earn extra miles, helps...

Pros: Great 'perks' for the frequent business traveler Cons: Limited area of operation
I love the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan! They have great domestic and international partners, they offer plenty of earning opportunities and they have great 'elite' level perks. The food is passable. The only problem is that they only fly on the West...

This plan keeps getting worse and worse
by mobster ,Jan 10 '08
Pros: They have an attractive schedule for west coasters. Cons: Customer service, in flight service, aircraft maintenance, and their overall mileage plan have deteriorated severely.
All the rave reviews were accurate a while back. But this company keeps changing their terms and making it harder and harder to use miles. They continuously up their number of miles required and today when I tried to use miles to upgrade to first class they gave me three different explanations that all indicated it was virtually impossible. I am an MVP member (high mileage frequent flyer) and have been for a number of years. They continuously give me bad news about changing policies and have a take it or leave it attitude. I highly recommend people who are considering this mileage plan to move on to another airline.

Watch your miles
by captredhead ,Jun 26 '06
Pros: Did think it was a good plan, before it got 'purged' from Alaska's systems. Cons: Lost every mile I'd ever flown on Alaska, NW, KLM, BA, et al.
I'd set up all my travel with a number of Alaska partner airlines (Continental, KLM, British Air, et al) to allocate my mileage onto my Alaska plan.
Unfortunately, I'd done this after several years of no activity on my account. Alaska had deleted my plan, and thus any miles I allocated to this plan number simply vanished -- no error messages to my travel agent when making the bookings, no mailings.
Contacting Alaska's customer service, with all my receipts, flight stubs, et al in hand, resulted in their standing by their policy that they're not responsible and my miles are simply gone.
780,000 miles of international and domestic travel simply gone.
Convenient for them, not for me.
Buyer beware.
And, check your mileage account every year or so, even if you happen to be out of the country for an extended period, to ensure your miles don't simply vanish...

horrible customer service
by rmorlock ,Mar 29 '06
Pros: alaska airlines's planes were modern with leather seats and generally comfy. Cons: Horrible customer service First class was not up to standards of other airlines
I've had the airline mileage program from Alaska Airlines for over 2 years. I recently bought tickets from the online site but ran into some technical difficulties. When I called the customer service, there was a long wait, the people were hugely disrespectful and all around a bad experience. I cancelled my card (losing 7,000 miles) because of it.
