Pros: frequent service to smaller airports, low fares, friendly staff, smart leadership Cons: no interlining with other airlines, no-frills
Summary: Southwest Airlines has always been a bit of a maverick in the airline industry. But it has been very successful at carving out its niche in competing with AA, UA, and Delta and has been more consistently profitable than the rest, too.

on-time departure and arrival record, GREAT frequent flyer program Cons: If only they went to more cities...

Pros: On time (usually), great in-flight staff, low rates affect others too Cons: cattle-call boarding, food (little to none)
Summary: Admittedly, no one flies Southwest for the frills. This is about the most basic airline flying today. Yet, as long as you know that, you can get a great bargain by flying Southwest or even a bargain on other airlines because of Southwest.

Pros: Mostly on-time; fun staff; low fares. Cons: No assigned seating; "cattle air" feeling.
