My husband decided to take our family on a cruise as a multiple reward for losing weight (me) and graduating from college (3 daughters). After doing lots of research on the internet and deciding where and when we wanted to go, we narrowed our...
Pros: Price, Staff and Comfortable Beds Cons: Overall Disregard for customer satisfaction and fire codes. Appearance of ship. Ventilation System. Room/Luggage Service.
It's obvious that Carnival is doing well financially on this economically priced cruise because their customer service at a corporate level is hideous (and they have absolutely no concern for my or my family's well being). I was intending to write a ...
Let me start by saying I did a lot of research on this ship prior to booking our trip... and was somewhat concerned about the mixed reviews. As to Background for the Cruise: ------------------------------

If you consider Kmart a name brand, if you think Red Lobster is fine dining, if you believe neon lights are elegant decorations, then this ship is for you. All others need to steer clear of the Carnival Imagination. This was my third cruise, the ...
Pros: Affordable, good for teens & younger party crowd, plenty of late night opportunities, quicky getaway Cons: Large boat, immature, sometimes gauche passengers

This was our first cruise (with 3 other couples) and overall a little disappointing. I expected to be in the lap of luxury and was greatly disappointed. We arrived to check in at 12:15 and it was a breeze. The staff members were many and friendly. Our...

Pros: Meet new people, great food whenever you want it, great destinations, memories to last a lifetime Cons: people are suprised at the end by the tipping, the food can be too rich after a while and you'll want to eat hotdogs for the whole week after.

We are relatively experienced cruisers (see my epinions on Princess and RCCL's Voyager). We chose the M/S Imagination for this five-day trip (12/11-15, 2000), because we wanted to reward our recent graduate students with a special, yet economical...

Pros: Food, Dining, entertainment Cons: Skip Puerto Rico on the cruise

Pros: Price (if you get what you paid for) Cons: Food, Service, Cleanliness
This was my fourth cruise and by far the worst. The cruise itinerary was changed completely and we received a trip that cost half as much as we actually paid. Of course Carnival was very unwilling to offer any compensation. Once they get your money, you're out of gas!!!!! The food and the service was horrible. All 7 people in my party got extremely sick. Will never do business with Carnival again.
Mexico and Catalina Island Trip by sangman ,Nov 24 '06
Pros: Going home. That is a major pro of this entire trip. Cons: Everything and the kitchen sink.
I really don't know how anyone can rate this trip as a good trip at all. I guess if you like bad entertainment, very bad food, horrific check in and out service, constantly people trying to sell you stuff, over priced sodas and alcohol, over crowded pools and spa, hard as a rock beds, TV with 25 channels that had 6 of them constantly running carnival cruise commercials - 3 in Spanish and all channels brightness completely dark to where all white actors on TV look like African Americans and if the actors happen to be African Americans look like they are burned to a crisp, employees that don't know where anything is so you end up on other side of ship running around like a chicken with its head cut off, a emergency drill that lasts forever, noisy kids running up and down the halls waking you up in all hours of the night, and did I mention really, really, really, bad food YOU WILL LOVE THE TRIP.
Imagination Dinner Cruise by countydown ,May 14 '05
Pros: Great staff, good food. Cons: Ship is old and worn out. It needs to be refurbished
My wife and I booked a five day cruise on the Imagination (April 11-16, 2005) The second day of the cruise, the captain informed the passengers that the ship was experiencing propulsion problems, and was only operating on one engine. Due to the propulsion problems we were unable to sail to our scheduled ports of Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios, instead we sailed to Cozumel. We arrived in Cozumel on April 13th and spent the entire day there. We departed Cozumel at approximately 11:00pm on April 13th, and slowly made our way back to Miami. We spent the last day of the cruise sailing around in circles of the coast of Florida. Needless to say we were very disappointed with our cruise vacation. Each passenger was given a $100.00 credit on their "Sail and Sign" account, and a 25% discount on a future cruise. Later, I found out that other Carnival ships have experienced the same propulsion problems. Our cruise vacation turned into a four-day dinner cruise.
Great Cruise, Great Fun, Great Value by dawnhb ,Oct 30 '04
Pros: Excellent value and service! Clean ship. Dining made easy with a very attentive waitstaff. Cons: The lifeboat drill was much too long, which was difficult for children and wheelchair-bound passengers.
I went on the Imagination on October 21, 2004 with my husband and 4 year old son. This was our third time on this particular ship, and our 14th cruise with Carnival (38th cruise overall). This cruise was a good example of why we choose Carnival over their competitors and other vacation destinations. The service was outstanding, especially our cabin steward and wait staff. The food quality was consistently better than what we find even in the "better" restaurants. We booked late and only inside cabins were available. I found the cabin to be much too dark and we had to request bathrobes (these were promptly delivered). When we docked at Cozumel, we talked with the taxi drivers and was recommended to Mr. Sanchos beach. This was an excellent recommendation, very clean with friendly staff, inexpensive food and drinks, and NO cover charge. On board ship, almost all the crew smiled and had a cheerful "hello". They also went out of their way to pay special attention to my son. All in all, this is the type of vacation where you get much more than you pay for. We are looking forward to cruising again very soon!
Pros: Staff was friendly, food and entertainment was good. Cons: Single men on topless deck, kids in hot tubs and unsupervised, hot tubs closed early.
Boyfriend and I went on 5 day to Grand Caymans and Ocho Rios. The crew was overall much better than on the Fantasy, food was good, ports were great. Our wait staff in the Pride Dining Room was not very attentive but our room steward, Antonio, was the BEST ever. The ship was kept clean at all times. We booked our shore trips online and not through Carnival. We did well on that one. Security did well to keep the single men with cameras off the topless deck but there was at least one on there at all times before being removed.
camp carnival was a terrible experience by nursek ,Oct 03 '04
Pros: NONE Cons: child abuse is permitted by this company
My son was in camp carnival at age 8. Hw wanted me to pick him up and asked for me to be paged. The head counselor refused and let him lie on the floor crying. Then he went into the bathroom and was crying. She dragged him out by his arm, leaving fingernail marks and bruises on his arm, forcing him to lie on the floor and cry for 45 minutes. I reported to carnival security and Miami police, who could not do anything about it. After contacting carnival, it became clear to me that they didnt care in the least. So be careful with your children if they are in carnival's custody because they can harm your children and NO ONE will help you. I will NEVER cruise on carnival again. I have since cruised with RCCL and they are better!!!!
