I took the Renaissance Tahiti cruise in April 2000 and really enjoyed it. I have written a number of reviews on the cruise and the islands. If you're looking for more information, please check out my account profile and read my other reviews.

Pros: Great snorkeling and diving, outstanding crew, small ship, short plane flight Cons: Expensive excursions (but see review for alternatives)
My companion and I had a wonderful time on a 10-day cruise on the R4 in July, 2001. We are in our early 50's and love to swim and snorkel, and I like to scuba dive. We just loved this trip. Here are our observations that can save you money and hassle,...
Pros: beautiful ships, efficient operation, great itineraries Cons: expensive shore excursions, limited room service
After being pampered by the intimacy and personal service of five cruises aboard Windstar's 148 passenger motorized sailing vessels, I was a bit skeptical and reluctant to try another line, but Renaissance was offering a deal we couldn't pass up to one...
Pros: Beautiful Ship, Nice Itinerary, Outstanding Crew, Good Food, Quality Shows, Great Cruise/Air Package Cons: Ship's Tours and Beverages High. Ship's communications with Corporate Office poor.
We just returned from an 8 day cruise on June 16th. It was an experience of a lifetime which we would definitely do again. We booked directly with Renaissance and shared a balcony cabin on D deck about mid ship with a 3rd elderly family member. It...
Pros: Good food, good service, good cabins, variety of shore activities Cons: Long wait for return flight, limited daytime activities on board
Renaissance has done it again. The R-4 is just as great as the other three. We took a cruise in Tahiti over Christmas, and it couldn't have been better.
Last year we were on the R-2 in the Mediterranean, so when we cam on board in Tahiti...
Pros: Small ship. We bought this cruise on a on line auction which gave us a slight financial advantage. Ship was not at full capacity so we got upgraded to a room with a balcony. Seating for meals allowed you to meet many new people. No smoking, no kids. Cons: Because of the logistics on embarking new passengers and disembarking others we had to waiting 6-8 hours at a local Tahiti hotel before our chartered flight back to the US. Many people were tired and would loved to have taken a nap. Also the food supplie
Our first cruise ever and we are hooked!
The R4 is a brand new ship designed to accommodate about 600 people. We were on her inaugural cruise that made a 10 day trip around 5 islands in French Polynesia in Dec. 1999.
Pros: Cost, destination, service, stateroom, variety of dining options Cons: Last day hotel visit awaiting air transportation, cost of some excursions
Having just recently returned from our December 1999 Tahiti cruise aboard the Renaissance R4, we can still visualize the warmth of a balmy sea breeze, the fragrance of the everpresent flowers, and the beauty of the sun slipping into the Pacific...
Pros: Well coordinated trip Cons: They are young and need more experience. Don't compare them to Holland America or you will be disappointed.
The lure of the South Pacific can not be ignored. Renaissance put together a five island visit that began on Tahiti and included Moorea, Raiatea, Huahine, and Bora Bora. The ship, R4, was a dynamite vessel exquisitely furnished, and the balcony rooms...
Pros: beautiful ship, low price Cons: quite ordinary, service is not always the best
Just returned from a Christmas cruise of the South Pacific on the R4. The latest addition to the Renaissance fleet.
The R4 is a beautiful ship that holds about 750 customers. My cruise had about 550 passengers and had plenty of space for everyone....
