Pros: It was fun to get away Cons: Too crowded, small cabins
A few years ago, while we were visiting family in Florida, we decided to take a “mini-cruise” to the Bahamas. Prior to booking I did some checking on what ships were doing this type of cruise, and we chose the Nordic Empress because we had not been on...
Pros: Excellent service, extraordinary food, plenty of activities. Cons: None that I can remember...
My fabulous cruise aboard the Nordic Empress has set a high standard. Any future cruises I take will have to live up to my very high expectations now - if I ever bother with cruising on any other ship! And here's where I tell you why...
Pros: Great destination, cozy ship, excellent entertainment and service; Royal Caribbean quality. Cons: Well, it is a smaller, older ship.
I missed the hiking and the kayaking stage in life. My idea of a good time away from home went right from theme parks to intense sightseeing road trips to cruise ships. It was on the cruise ships that I discovered the euphoric combination of faraway pl ...
Pros: Not overcrowded like the larger ships. Able to pull into two ports in Bermuda. Cons: Odors in the cabin/commode and wait staff issues.
Although we did experience some problems on this cruise, it was our most memorable and enjoyable cruise so far. I will include both the ups and downs of the cruise and an honest opinion based on what we experienced: The night before departure ...
Pros: Inexpensive, quick and easy itineraries with interesting stops Cons: In dire need of renovation, poor purser service, completely unlike other Royal Caribbean ships
*** Update: Nordic Empress was renamed Empress of the Seas by Royal Caribbean and then left the Royal Caribbean fleet in March 2008. The ship now sails for Royal Caribbean subsidiary Pullmantur as the Empress. ***Instead of ...
Pros: Cabin service, ports, other travelers, id's programs Cons: screwy dinner service, small pool, ship is "tired".
As this was our first cruise, I don't have too much to compare it to other than the opinions of the many wonderful people I met while on the ship. I was looking for a "two-fer" vacation, something my kids would enjoy, but something that would allow for...
My wife and I were married May 17, 2003, and decided that we would travel to Bermuda on our honeymoon. After checking into over 6 other cruise lines, Royal Caribbean was offering the best deal to Bermuda, so we decided to go ahead and book aboard the Nord ...
Pros: Inexpensive, professional & polite staff, great ports & clean ship. Cons: Uninspired bland food, bad shows, not a lot to do!
We just returned from our 7 day Western Caribbean cruise aboard the Nordic Empress this week (March 20, 2004). We paid about $600 each. Our party consisted of myself (32 year old female), my husband (39 year old male), my father (56 year old male) and my ...
Pros: Islands it takes you to are beautiful, service, FOOD! Entertainment, everything! Cons: Not long enough??
This isn't going to be a review where I tell you every little fact and price... I'd rather just give you my opinion... because I know you can look that up for yourself:)
I took the Nordic Empress about 3 years ago, during the month of...
Pros: Dining Room Service & Food Cons: Room Steward Service
Well, we are back from our first cruise. We traveled on the Nordic Empress to Bermuda on 8/15-8/22. Traveling with me were, my husband, our 4 year old son and my mother.

Pros: None Cons: Service, cleanliness, quality of food, lack of activities
Hated it. Absolutely hated it. I've been on two other cruises, and this was a serious let down. The ship is old and not very clean. Staff was scarce. And the food!! YUCK!! Oh, the food was AWFUL. Don't you go on a cruise for the food? I would've rather...
Pros: Excellent service, food and accommodations Cons: The spa
The Nordic Empress sails three and four night itineraries out of San Juan Puerto Rico in the winter, making stops in St. Thomas, St. Maarten and St. Croix. During the summer months, I believe it departs New York on a seven night itinerary and heads to...
Pros: Service, food in dining room, Bermuda Cons: Single supplement makes it quite expensive for one.
On October 10, 1999 I took the train to New York to embark on my first cruise alone, a seven day cruise to Bermuda. To keep costs down because I was travelling alone this was also my first time in an inside cabin, 8171, aft on the bridge deck. The...
Pros: Very clean, quite, relaxing Cons: a little more expensive, but worth every penny
My husband and I went on the Nordic Empress for our Honeymoon in October 1996. The Royal Caribbean cruise line is a little more expensive than the other cruise lines out there. It is probably about $150 more than some of the others at the time....
Pros: Carmen Dining Room, Entertainment, Bermuda! Cons: Windjammer Cafe, small staterooms
We just back from a cruise vacation from New York City to Bermuda aboard RCL's Nordic Empress. We cruised from June 4 - 11, 2000. We had a wonderful time and it was an overall great experience! I would recommend this cruise and rate it just about an 8...
Pros: Cheaper than flying to Bermuda Cons: And with good reason
INTRO:
I ended up on the Nordic Empress to Bermuda this past May, 2001 almost by accident. I was looking for a cheap, last minute getaway to a sunny destination. I found this seven-day cruise listed on lastminute.com, and at approximately...

This is my review of the Nordic Empress trip we took to Bermuda on June 25, 2000. I was traveling with my wife and 5 of our friends. We had go to the Philadelphia Airport to pick up the RCCL bus which would take us to the NYC pier. There was a bus...
I had an interesting time on the ship. The entertainment, such as shows and activities, were a bit second rate. They didn't know how to keep the customer's attention. For instance, the show that is held after the black tie dinner was laughable....
Pros: Exceptional price of around $1,000 per person for airfare and cruise. Cons: Time constraints due to early departure times from ports.
This is an exceptional cruise line that offers a variety of cruise options with one being a 3-day, 4-night affair giving the traveller a brief overview of the Northeastern Caribbean region with 3 ports of call. There are longer cruises available but...
Pros: Beautiful ship , Fun lots of good food Cons: Smaller boat

My wife and I, along with four other family members sailed on the Nordic Empress to Bermuda for a 1 week cruise. We sailed out of New York City on June 18, 2000 at a fare of $1357.00 each. As this was my first cruise in 30 years I believe my opinion to...
Now,I've been on many a cruise, and many a vacation. But of all the cruise ships that I've been on, this was one of the best; not the best, but one of the best. When you first get on, you are overwhelmed by the all glass lobby, with a 4 story waterfall,...
Having just recently returned from a cruise aboard the Nordic Empress I must say I was slightly unsatisfied. The ship itself was absolutely gorgeous, and the islands were magnificent, however, I feel that with the exception of my waiters the service was...
I won my cruise to Bermuda in 1993 from a radio station, but all of the trip winners were treated as paying guests. Some elements of the cruise were great, but others needed improving. I should mention that I was 28 at the time.
Pros: Good all around experience Cons: Maybe a little too much service
We had never cruised before but had heard that Royal Caribbean was a nice cruise line. They were right. The Nordic Empress from New York to Bermuda was wonderful.
I decided I couldn't stay in an inside cabin. We chose an outside cabin with a...
Pros: Bermuda, Service, Activities, Food Cons: Ship is somewhat small, not as modern as others
Now if you are very whiny and particular, you probably shouldnt take this cruise, but if you are a fun person who just wants to get away and have a good time, hop aboard.
The Nordic Empress is a nice small-medium sized ship. There is alot of...

Took the Nordic Empress to southern caribbean in April, 2000. I realized the ship was 10 years old and had not been refurbished, but wanted to try RCCL after mediocre experiences with NCL and Carnival. The ship was in surpisingly good condition- public...

Pros: Bermuda is beautiful - otherwise they have no pros.... Cons: food gross, not enough, rooms small, boring hardly no activities

Bermuda was beautiful. That was the only good thing about this vacation. My boyfriend and I saved for two years on our small budget to go away on what we thought would be an amazing, simple, all-expense-paid vacation. Not 24 hours into the trip my ...
We picked the cruise because of the price and ports. The ports were fun; Barbados is great for beach lovers and st kitts and st lucia were great adventurous volcanic islands. The price was good but with the good price came the worst food i have ever had...

Pros: Service!, Food, Ports of Call, Overall activities of the ship Cons: Inside cabin rooms were a little small-highly recommend going to an ocean-view room
After comparing all of our honeymoon options, we selected the 4-day Royal Caribbean Cruise aboard the Nordic Empress. It was the most amazing vacation that I have ever had. Although the inside cabins were rather small, there were so many activities on the ship that we were rarely in our room. The ports of call were also very exciting and offered tons to do. As for food, this is not a diet cruise. There is always something open where you can grab a quick bite or have an excellent sit-down meal...I could never forget about the midnight chocolate buffet! By far, the best part about this cruise was the crew. They were awesome. The best customer service I have ever seen.
Pros: good food, great staff, lots to do on the boat Cons: The only major drag was disembarkation at the end of the trip.
I took a cruise Sept 12, 2004 to Bermuda. 6 night cruise.
This was my first cruise and also my first trip to Bermuda. I really liked the ship, the crew was great too. I thought the food was very good and would also like to mention that they do serve the same food in the casual buffet (Windjammer cafe) as they do in the dining room.
We docked at King's Wharf for 1.5 days and Hamilton for 1 day. Great trip...I definitely recommend it.
Pros: well worth the price Cons: can;t think of any
Royal Caribbean if my FAVORITE cruise line. As a matter of fact am going again in December to Hawaii on this line. Crew is wonderful...food delicious. Entertainment top of the line.
