Windjammer's Yankee Clipper

by mmorris , Dec 17 '99
Pros: Relaxing, romantic, affordable
Cons: Cabins slightly cramped
My wife and I took a 7-day cruise on the Yankee Clipper a couple of years ago, over Thanksgiving week. The ship, a 200-foot staysail schooner built in 1927, is a graceful beauty. She sails a changing itinerary in the Grenadines, a string of lovely,...

fabulous trip!

by EM1026 , Jan 07 '01
Pros: Very relaxing, laid back
Cons: small cabins
This was my second Barefoot cruise, and I enjoyed it even more than the first (on the Polynesia). We arrived in Grenada on the 31st of December. There was a windjammer representative at the airport to greet us, and get a special rate on the cab to the...

Not so young and carefree

by snag07 , Dec 24 '99
Pros: itinerary
Cons: cost and misleading group age
Just back from a disappointing Grenada/St Vincent trip. Advertised young and carefree/casual group did not materialize and after talking to several regulars seems they never do, at least on the Yankee Clipper. Good food but the cabins are small and...

Loved it and want to go back

by thelma-lou , May 31 '00
Pros: Fun, educational, exciting and different
Cons: Can't think of any.
I would sail the Yankee Clipper again in a heartbeat! Our itinerary included stops at Bequia, Mayreau, Union Island and Carriacou. We paid full price, which was somewhere around $900 each (there were two of us.) The other passengers were a lot of...

Windjammer, Yankee Clipper

by dteiram , Apr 17 '03
Pros: Beautiful Ship, Great Crew, Fantastic Location, Casual, Fun, Very Laid Back Atmosphere.
Cons: The cabins are small but adequate with your own head and shower.
I spent a week on the Yankee Clipper in March (2003). The Clipper is an old wooden schooner, approximately 200 feet in length with 3 masts. What I found was a fun loving group of fellow passengers whose ages vary from 30's to retiree. A crew from many...

The trip of a lifetime!

by jillw , Jan 26 '01
Pros: Take this trip if you love to sail!
Cons: Take one of those floating hotels(Foo Foo Ships)if you don't.
The package consisted of cabin upgrade to deck level for $1100.00. For the extra $100.00 well worth being able to get on deck fast. This is the trip for you if you've spent any time boating. Gets you right back into the action whereas a cruise line is...
