Pros: Abundance of wildlife. Very friendly people! Well-managed parks. Cons: Very expensive, although by using average/basic accommodations, we've been told a safari_can_be done affordably
The traveler to Botswana has the opportunity to see awe-inspiring vistas in nature, and perhaps the last areas in Africa that remain natural with prolific wildlife. Depending on the areas visited, the visitor can see the coveted Big Five ...

Pros: Fantastic Game Drives, Wonderful people. Cons: Getting to the camps is the only draw back. Otherwise no cons.
When we were in Rio de Janeiro my wife and I met a couple from South Africa. On an all day bus trip of Rio they invited us to come to South Africa. Well we had never really thought of Africa as a destination until then. We had over 200,000 miles saved ...

Pros: great wildlife opportunities; fairly safe; good lodges and guides available Cons: expensive; hot and dry can be a drag after a while; camping requires careful packing and planning, as nothing can be bought in the parks
In September, 1999, I took a two-week trip in Botswana and Zimbabwe with a bunch of friends. Two of the friends had been living in Gaborone (a.k.a. "Gabs") for the previous three years, and during that period they had taken many trips to the...

In May 2000 we went on a Botswana safari for the second time. We went on an 11 night safari using Wilderness Safaris which is a very large operator concentrating on countries in southern Africa. Their Jacana safari is marketed by many agencies....

Pros: Wildlife viewing; get away from it all Cons: distance; heat
We recently spent 2 weeks in the Botswana/Zimbabwe area and had a wonderful time.
We stayed at a high-end camp called Xudum (pronounced KOO-doom). They are a small camp with a maximum of 14 people allowed at any one time. Each party is...

Pros: Clean, nice, friendly Cons: Too many elephants
Chobe National Park is a great first spot to visit. We stayed at the Chobe Lodge, which was nice, clean and pleasant. If you love elephants, this is the place to go, there are thousands of them...too many. The
elephants seem to be destroying too...
