Pros: Lovely, humble people, truly exotic, pleasant weather, and adequate ammenities. Peaceful and natural. Cons: Can be very costly and physically demanding due to the constant travel.
As my title suggests, I have traveled to wonderful Tanzania twice, and I am only 24-years old. I am spoiled, yes, but not not an idiot, so I feel that I have a deep appreciation for my traveling experiences. Anyways, enough about me. Let me just offer ...

Pros: Amazing wildlife, wonderful people, incredible tent lodges Cons: Expensive, expensive, expensive!
Africa Trip Log For this review, I will be providing a daily trip log for a 10 day trip to Africa. I lay out the trip in this way so one can see how much can be accomplished in the relatively short vacation periods typical of an American worker (how ...

Pros: The uncrowded, wild, off-the-beaten-path, but with hot water and flush toilets. Cons: Needs planning; not cheap; not really for the easily faint-of-heart.
So you're thinking about going on an African safari. That's great! Now the hard part begins, for there's scores of countries and within each one, hundreds of operators. --------------------------- ---------------------------Thi

Pros: no other tourists, stunning scenery, lovely campsites, lots of wildlife Cons: the ascent to the peak is very steep
I was recently contacted by a tour operator friend in UK who asked my advice on where to hike in south Tanzania. The brief I was given was that a young couple would like to hike Mount Kilimanjaro but did not want to spend 9 days of their holiday in ...

Pros: Wonderful observations of chimpanzee and baboon behavior at Gombe Stream National Park. Cons: Accomodations at this park are very basic.
The Kigoma Hilltop Hotel runs a package that includes 3 nights at Gombe for chimpanzee viewing (http://www.kigoma.com). This is the national park made famous by the research of Jane Goodall. In late September 2001 we went on a modified version of the...

Pros: Great wildlife, Nice beaches, friendly culture. Lots of attractions. Cons: Malaria and other infectious diseases, underdeveloped infrastructure, occasional theft.
If Brazilians can claim that "God is Brazilian" for their successes on the soccer field, then Tanzanians would be in serious contention for the same claim for the wonderful natural treasures endowed to their land. Wow, what a country! Nestled...

Pros: Wonderful landscapes, exotic animals, new experiences Cons: potential for disease and theft
Tanzania is one of the most beautiful locales on the planet. It is truly one of God's own hangouts. I had the opporunity to spend a month in Tanzania and Kenya in the summer of '99. This was one of the best trips I have ever taken.
From the...

Pros: Amazing wildlife, super friendly people Cons: Expensive (but well worth it)
My wife and I visited Tanzania in early June 1997, with stops at Mt. Meru National Park, Ngorogoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Tarangire, and of course, the spectacular Serengeti National Park. I can say that for both of us, the trip was absolutely the most...

Pros: Fantastic people, Kilimanjaro, unspoiled nature Cons: Food choices for vegetarians, bad roads, pickpockets.
Review Topic: Sights & Attractions
Last May I was lucky enough to visit the great country of Tanzania in addition to climbing the tallest peak in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. Kilimanjaro in 19,000+ feet tall and will knock...

Pros: free, spectacular climb of an East African volcano, no crowds Cons: local water
The hikes up Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru are some of the most spectacular anywhere. Mt. Meru, especially, is probably the most woefully under-rated mountain anywhere. If you think that watching the sunrise from the summit of Kilimanjaro sounds...

Pros: Friendly people, great weather, service opportunities Cons: Not for type A travellers who need to see 10 countries in 3 days
Although Tanzania lies near the equator, the western gateway, the town and region of Kigoma, is at a higher elevation. In December, mangos are ripe and the nights are comfortable. My sister and I visited one of the ubiquitous mission hospitals near the...

Pros: ADVENTURE TRAVEL, FANTASTIC HIKING AND SCENERY Cons: EXPENSE
For a traveler who is looking to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, the choices can seem overwhelming. You are legally required to hire a certified guide, and most often people sign up with "outfitters" -- more than the guide, the standard outfitter will...

Pros: More elephants per square kilometer than anywhere else in the world. Cons: People say the tsetse fly. We were not affected by them.
During our recent trip in January 2008, the last park we visited in Tanzania was Tarangire National Park. Tarangire National Park is over 1,000 square miles and about 75 miles Southwest of Arusha. The park is renowned for more than 500 varieties of ...

Pros: Tanzania is Wonderful country. Visit the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara. Cons: Poor medical facilities, malaria. Poor choice of Travel operator can ruin holiday.
In May 2000 a group of us travelled with our young children from Bombay India to Tanzania. We used Ranger Safaris in Tanzania and had some very bad experiences.
When we first arrived at Kili airport there was no one to pick us up and we had...

Pros: closer view of animals Cons: nothing
Lake Manyara is one of the smaller game parks located in Tanzania. While Lake Manyara itself is quite large, the park only encompasses part of the lake area. This park is well worth a visit because even though it is smaller in size than a lot of...
