by MariaEkaterina , Aug 13 '01
Pros: A large well-preserved complex, beautiful architecture and landscaping

Cons: Lack of signs telling you where you are in the park
Since being in China, over the past eleven months I have been able to visit Yiheyuan (The Summer Palace) three times. Excluding the Great Wall, which is a good distance outside the city; this is probably the prettiest...

Winter at the Summer Palace

by LRai , Feb 11 '08
Pros: One of the best preserved Qing dynasty residences with much to see.
Cons: There is alot of walking and you pay extra for some parts of the park.
My trip to Beijing was a gift from my employer so I had little say about when I would be going. He planned my trip to be prior to Chinese Lunar New Year, not exactly the warmest time to go to Beijing. It was rather cold while I was there so seeing the ...

A pleasant afternoon

by Illuvius , Sep 13 '99
Pros: Nice breezes in summer, picturesque
Cons: Basically there's only one thing to see
The Summer Palace isn't exactly a thrilling destination, and in fact large sections of it could be considered boring, but ultimately it's a nice way to spend a hot afternoon.

The best part was the walk around the lake; the longest covered...
