I visited Bali in Feb/Mar 1998 and travelled overland by public bus and train to Surabaya and then on to Yogyakarta. You have to leave Denpasar at 2.00 A.M. and those public bus drivers are simply crazy drivers! Scary.

Borobudur, one of the 7 wonders of the world, is an hour away from Yogyakarta. it is located about 41 km Northwest of Yogyakarta, 7 km South of Magelang, Central Java. Located beneath the shadows of Mount Merapi, it is surrounded by the lush green environment of Java. Its best to go during sunrise when the throngs of tourists have yet to flood the area. Other stuff to see at Borobudur is its beautiful park where it houses the Kapal Samudra and Karmawibhangga exhibitions.

it cost Rp. 9.000/person for locals (i forgot the cost for foreigners. many people believe if we able to touch the palm of Budha inside one of the 9 small-Budha cage, that our will may become true…(also the reason why i came here…hahaha), and i made it (i touched the middle finger of one Budha)…its got a lot of stone-carved picture that believed describe the human journey in earth from the 2nd story of the temple up to the top level of the temple.

Borobudur is one of the wonder of the world.
i have been there from i was i little boy, the view is magnificant. you can see almost all central java from here.
a trip to the temple is not easy in the past, cause u have to through forest. but today is just a great story of my child hood. located in magelang city, one of the great city of java, borobudur temple is well known by the local Indonesian as one of the big venue for religius place for budhis people. The crowd who came to the place is overwhelming, specially in holiday season around april.

if you want to come, better come when budhis day, or waisak in indonesian language. at that religius day, u can see monk from all over the world is gatering here to celebrate the birth of budha. but when you come dont forget to bring umbrella or hat, cause its hot there.

digital camera and video is must to bring here, cause you will be amaze by the view from these wonderland.
