Cons: Cypress smell in everything
Hualien is a great city to use as a base for your travels around Taiwan. Within blocks of the train station there is a night market, hotels, restaurants, and all forms of nightlife. Taroko gorge is close by, as are hotsprings and other great day...

Pros: Beautiful Scenery, Hot springs
Cons: Steep trails
On our most recent visit to Taiwan Jan. 30, 2000 to Feb. 20, 2000 we made a side trip to Haulien. During one of the days Feb. 12, 2000 we went to visit Taroko (pronounced Tai Lu Gu) National Park.
