Hualien is a great city to use as a base for your travels around Taiwan. Within blocks of the train station there is a night market, hotels, restaurants, and all forms of nightlife. Taroko gorge is close by, as are hotsprings and other great day...

Pros: Beautiful Scenery, Hot springs Cons: Steep trails
