We just spent 6 days in Aruba at one of the vacation rental homes and the experiecne has been very mixed. We arrived one day late due to our flight crew claiming they needed their beauty sleep as their flight came in at 10 PM the previous night ( this ...
Pros: Beautiful, no need to worry about hurricanes, friendly locals, easy bus system Cons: Over run with tourists, some what pricey, cruise ship destination,
Aruba is a laid back sleepy little island that my husband and I both enjoyed. Plenty of sun and cooling breezes. We stayed at the Royal Sonesta which for the money was not a bad deal. Just keep in mind that the hotel is on a main street and the beach...
Aruba. A nice little island in the Caribbean, a few
miles from Venezuela and famous for its white sandy
beaches and blue waters. Indeed, it's a very nice
destination if you are on a honeymoon or if you are
40 years and up. Don't...
Pros: Trip of a life time, Jeep tour was to much fun Cons: Zero
We went to Aruba in September. I have always wanted to go. The plane trip, how every long it takes to get there is worth it. The only thing we did wrong was to stay at the Holiday Inn. It was all inclusive but there was charges for thing we though should...
My wife Lisa and I went to Aruba for our honeymoon during Sep/Oct 2000
I booked it thru AA vacation. This was our first trip to Aruba.
Price was around $1000 per person including round air and lodging at BUCUTI RESORT. a couples only resort....
Pros: Sonesta is awesome, El Gaucho is the place to eat. My kind of vacation. Cons: NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife and I have been to Aruba twice, once when we first met and then again on our Honeymoon. Both times we have stayed at the Sonesta Marina Hotel in the center of town. You couldn't ask for a nicer Hotel. The people at the Sonesta are super...
Welcome to Aruba! Now, make sure your hat has a chin strap and don't even think of sitting comfortably on the beach without being in a cabana or wearing clothes!
I spent 10 days in Aruba, and I could not wait to come home. It is so...
We went in June of 2002 and stayed at the Radisson which was absolutely gorgeous - right on the beach. Water sports were right on the beach...floatation devices to take in the pool or ocean if it got too hot. Waiter service to bring you a cocktail on...
Pros: Constant wind, clear waters, clean beaches, strong sun Cons: Too much money. strong sun
I visited Aruba in May 2000,there was a discounted rate for this time period. Since Aruba climate is the same year round it's good to go whenever. I felt that Palm beach was the nicest, cleanest beach I've ever been to. The water is an unreal blue/green...
Pros: Friendly natives, great food, and near perfect weather. Cons: Not the most attractive island
What can I say about this place....It really is one happy island. First the weather....constant, moderate tradewinds keep the warm, muggy air tolerable. I have been there in April and June, and had great weather. It only rained one day during my April...
Pros: Pleasant, easy going, friendly people and easy access when there Cons: Hard to say anything BAD about the place
Aruba is the place to go to do basically nothing at all. There we were, my wife and two teenage sons at an all-inclusive resort just sort of being there. Don't get me wrong. The food was fine, and the beach beautiful. The water was perfect and...
One happy Island- and that is just it. If you have been to Jamacia you know there is garbage, unemployment, poverty and crime. But none of that is in Aruba. It is one of the cleanest countries and if you do not have a job in 3 months they kick you...
Pros: great weather Cons: airfare can be pricey, best to get a package
He loves windsurfing and the hot sun. She hates humidity. What's a couple to do? Head to Aruba, of course, where the windsurfing's great and the constant breeze makes it the most pleasant spot in the Caribbean.
My family--three...
Pros: Explore island in a rental car; off paved-road sights best toured in air conditioning comfort. Cons: Some recommended sights over-rated; go slow over coral desert roads (not marked); flats common.
Take your choice...relax on Palm Beach (the best) in the constant wind cooling your skin from the Aruba sun (fierce and unrelenting), or seek the hidden places (get map of island) in an off the road exploration taking you to the sights recommended....
On the island of Aruba it never rains and and is always sunny. I visited Aruba in the month of Feburary and it was beautiful. If u are planing to g sight seeing you have to see the Natural Bridge, everyone goes to see this landmark which was formed by...
Pros: reasonable prices Cons: long flight from California
My wife and I went to Aruba on our honeymoon last year. We found it a great place to relax and truly get away from it all. The island is not that large, so you can see everything, lose the guilt you might otherwise have for not trying to see...
Pros: Friendly,multi-lingual people, snorkeling, great chefs, well run casinos, beautiful water Cons: Tho you don't need a car, it's advisable but they drive too fast
We'll be flying down to Aruba for our 7th year on the island. It's one of those arid (except around hotels) little ABC islands (Aruba,Bonaire,Curacao) which were colonized by the Dutch. Aruba declared its independence a while back but still has Dutch...
There are some great smaller beaches away from the high risers and the other hotels. Don't miss dinner at El Gaucho's. You will need to make a reservation and will probably still have to wait an hour or so. The north side of the island has some great...
Pros: absolutely nothing Cons: RAIN, dogs lying all over the streets, a factory pouring chemicals into the air
Thinking of going to Aruba? Well, don't! I've been telling everyone for a few years now how the place sucks. I went to that dump of an island back in December of 1999 to see nothing but rain every single day (and some at night) for 7 days. The streets...
IF you want a great vacation- this is where to go by suberk ,Aug 03 '05
Pros: Sunny almost all of the time , friendly people, lack of crime, great food. Cons: You have to go home eventually
I can't say anything bad. The island is so friendly, it truly is "One Happy Island" like the license plates say.
Many of the restaurants we ate in were great- and we look forward to going back.
Hands down the best was the "Flying Fishbone"- may be a bit out of the way (from the hotel area) but well worth the trip. The most amazing seafood- actually all the food we got there was EXCELLENT- do not miss it...
Also, not to be missed is "Driftwood"- they catch their fish in the late afternoon and serve it to you for dinner.
For dessert, you have to try "Suisse Chalet" for their Toblerone chocolate fondue-
All in all, you can't go wrong visiting Aruba.
Pros: Weather, Friendly people, Food, Transportation, Entertainment Cons: Tour guide companies are not very modernized
My husband and I went here for our honeymoon 3 years ago. We LOVED it! The people are soo friendly, the weather was beautiful, and the beaches were clean.
We did go horseback riding one day, and that wasn't a very good experience. Funny but not fun. We were beginners and the tour guides had us galloping on top of cliffs. I was ready to die from stomach cramps and they weren't very accommodating. It was very dirty, and I wouldn't recommend if you're a beginner.
I would recommend renting your own jeep and traveling across the island. They have tours, but renting your own was nicer. You could go at your own pace, and they give you a map of the island and good spots to visit.
It was a great trip for us, and we are looking to going back in the future. Plus it is the only island that has no hurricane season. Then you know your honeymoon won't be ruined. Make sure you go all inclusive. This way you can eat and drink all you want without having to worry about cash. No tipping is allowed.
This island was really disappointing. We've spent lots of time in the Carribean, and I found the island landscape quite boring and barren. It's also really, really humid and hot. Uncomfortably so. I personally much prefer Virgin Gorda, in the British Virgin Islands.
