Pros: Just like a postcard, picture perfect, great snorkeling and beaches Cons: The only bugs we encountered in the BVI's were at the gardens
In mid-March 2002, I flew from JFK airport to Puerto Rico, then on to Beef Island, Tortola. After taking a wild taxi ride from the Beef Island airport to Road Town (the capital of the British Virgin Islands).
Pros: Great diving/snorkeling spot Cons: no beaches, can be a bit scary for some people
The description of Jost Van Dyk e says that the island is a party scene and all, but I'd like to give a different, wilder side of my own. I have a passion for Diving, and snorkeling, and other underwater sports, and I've always loved the BVI for their...
I recently vacationed in the USVI in late February, 2002. One day we decided to take a day trip to island hop in the BVI, which of course included Jost Van Dyke. We docked at Great Harbour and enjoyed a drink at Foxy's island beach bar. What started...
Pros: Beautiful island, friendly people. Cons: rooms were small, although we did go on short notice. probably could find something nicer.
In a recent a vacation to the Caribbean I had started off in the USVI, and of course the beaches were amazing. The snorkeling and scuba was stellar. While there everybody was telling us we need to check out Jost van Dyke in the BVI’s. ...
Pros: real island feel, much better than USVI, 2nd best island in BVI Cons: pricey, hotels fill up fast
If you are going to the Virgin Islands, I would recommend bringing you passport along, and going to the British Virgin Islands. They are much less developed, with less uber multi-story high rise resorts, and more authentic inns, hotels, and villas. The ...
Pros: The villas were very clean, spacious, comfortable and had a fantastic view. Cons: Long walk to the beach, rent a jeep
My wife and I arrived on 1/12/09 after leaving a very COLD Boston early in the morning. We were able to catch the 6pm JVD ferry from Tortola, and were greeted at the dock by Malia (manager of White Bay Villas). After getting our Jeep (Paradise Rental) we ...
Staying on JVD at White Bay Villas will be the vacation of your life. It is the most breathtaking island. White Bay Villas always makes our vacation extra special. The cottages and villas are beautiful and relaxing. The views cannot be described. We always have breakfast on the deck and tell each other how blessed we are to enjoy such a view of the sea, the islands and White Bay. The people, however, make White Bay Villas extra special. Bonnie will take your reservation and answer any questions you have quickly. Thad and Malia on the island will do anything they need to so you can simply relax and enjoy your time on the island. I have even called them when we missed our ferry and Malia organized a water taxi for us that very moment. They have given us fresh mangos from the grounds and we are always excited to see them again. It is like coming home. You won't regret staying at White Bay Villas. And, you will be back.
Pros: BeachWaterFoodBarsPeople Cons: No grocery store, so provisioning is necessary.
We go to Jost Van Dyke every year and stay at White Bay Villas. The views are magnificent! The cottages and villas are very nice, well appointed, and very clean. The lay out of the property offers privacy to every guest. The walk to the beach is easier from some buildings than others, but fine for most people. The island offers an authenticity that I haven't found anywhere else in the Caribbean. The food is true to the culture and is wonderful. The beach bars (within walking distance) are great fun and the water and beach are pristine! Love Jost!
