Pros: Escapist retreat, All paid for resorts, Tons of activities, Friendly natives, Beautiful weather, Lovely Land Cons: Expensive, IS a resort for you?, the fer de lance snake
I am on vacation right now. Rejoice. I am here enjoying the many grayed splendor of non-sunny Providence. Well, as part of my “sunny”, dreary spring break here in my dorm in Providence, I am embarking upon a vicarious excursion of writing...
Pros: One of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. Cons: Food is expensive and not too good. Accommodations are ramshackle for those on a budget.
We spent about a week on St. Lucia in Jan '05 and it was one of the best islands we were on. My wife and I aren't typical package tour travelers, so we just showed up on New Year's Day and hoped for the best. St. Lucia is a high, volcanic island that ...

Pros: Beautiful, secluded, lot of nice locals, different Cons: 14 hr travel from Chicago, safe or not to go out on your own?
Since strangely? there is no category in Hotels/Resorts for the Sandals Grande, I have opted to put my review here, since obviously it is on the lovely island of St. Lucia. Let me start by saying as a resident of Chicago, getting to St. Lucia is no eas ...
Pros: Absolutely beautiful, great historical sites Cons: Somewhat lacking in infrastructure
St. Lucia is without question the greenest place I have ever visited. Miles of banana plantations, beautiful beaches, with a couple of dramatic mountains in the middle of it all, St Lucia is one of my little slices of heaven.
Pros: A Romantic Paradise setting with Spectacular Views. Cons: Very underdeveloped outside the resorts.
If you've ever seen the twin Pitons (mountains) of St. Lucia featured in many Caribbean advertisements, chances are the picture you're looking at was taken from one of the rooms at Ladera.
The Ladera Resort is perched 800+ feet above the sea...
Pros: Beautiful island with great weather and fabulous hotels. Cons: I think it rained one day. We caught up on our sleep.
We were really looking to be pampered as part of an almost two week honeymoon. We choose Saint Lucia because of the beauty of the island and the international draw of the clientele.
We chose Le Sport because we received excellent reviews from...
St Lucia was probably one of the most unique sceneries we have seen. The Piton's are truly amazing..especially when you take the helicopter ride from the airport to the hotel...which we HIGHLY recommend.
As I have made it my personal mission in this life to save people from this band of thieves, I have once again seen their advertisement in the Feb. issue of Islands magazine. I guess it is time to start recruiting suckers after all.
Pros: The Resort's STAFF, The RESORT, The FOOD, The Island, and it's beauty. Cons: A select FEW unpleasant Finer Dining Staff members.
As my way of saying thanks to others who have taken the time to share their experiences (the Good, the Bad & the Ugly), here's our story. The good far eclipsed the bad in our experience. All are detailed here. The wife & I spent 8 days at this ...
We just got married May 17, 2003. For our Honeymoon, we choose the Sandals Grande St. Lucian. We have both lived in Boston for about four years now and used to party pretty hard. Now we are mellowing out and wanted a resort that was tropical and relaxing...
Pros: Quiet, friendly and beautiful island for explorers. Cons: Resorts offer a sheltered and boring farm-animal experience.
We had a great honeymoon in St. Lucia, but if you don't want to enjoy you're stay there, try one of the farmed out vacations at an all-inclusive resort (ie. Sandals). Besides the fact that some resorts put a wristband on you and send you off to see the...
Pros: Breathtaking scenery, above and below the water! Cons: Difficult to get there
My husband and I honeymooned at Anse Chastanet, on the western coast of St. Lucia. We had the experience of a lifetime - picture a luxurious "Swiss Family Robinson" experience. The resort is built on a hillside, with only 49 rooms. The rooms are...
Pros: No pros of any kind at Sandals. Cons: Almost Everything
HERE IS A DRAFT OF THE LETTER THAT WE SENT TO SANDALS AFTER RETURNING FROM OUR HONEYMOON. WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE THERE FROM JUNE 26TH THROUGH JULY 5TH, BUT LEFT ON JUNE 28TH, 2000. PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU SPEND $4000 ON A SANDALS ST LUCIA VACATION. WE...
Pros: Excellent relaxation spot Cons: The property is a bit to small
My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Randazvous in St Lucia. If you are expecting a loud and all day party place, this one is not for you. We were trying to find a place, where we can spend time together and not be dragged to meet others 24 hours a day...
Pros: Idyllic isolation Cons: No telephone in the rooms, no discos, no crowds
Southern St. Lucia - with its small fishing villages, mountains and valleys - is commonly described as "the way the Caribbean used to be." Two miles from the sleepy port of Soufriere, up a steep hill overhung with mango trees, lies a...
Pros: An island with fantastic scenery Cons: But don't stay at the Rendezvous
St Lucia is a fantastically verdant country, from the amazing beaches all the way up to the mountain tops - which our guide claimed were covered in the world's finest grass, and it looked as though he should know !!!
We were very disappointed in our trip. We were disappointed with the physical maintenance of the property, the service, the food, the room, the staff, and more. We felt we got a quality level one would expect at $70 per night at a cost of about $700 per...
Pros: If you like rain, you'll love it here. Cons: Friendly people
My husband and I choose a new destination to celebrate our wedding anniversaries. We alternate years, one year, I will choose and plan it, the next year he will choose and plan it. Our second anniversary he surprised me by planning a trip to St. Lucia...
Pros: Scenic; friendly people; good diving Cons: Expensive; Not much to do if you are alone
St. Lucia is one of those islands that reflects the Caribbean as most people probably fantasize it to be before traveling there. Have a camera ready for a spectacular aerial view of the Pitons as your plane descends for landing at Hewannora. Most of the...

Pros: beautiful resort, nice villas, great people Cons: food is expensive,
What a surprise to hear that Skygirl hated Windjammer Landing! We were there in February for a wedding and had a spectacular time. We arrived late and Mary opened the kitchen for us and prepared an incredible shrimp salad and a stack of Pitons (local...
Pros: Awesome natural sights and attractions; less crowded than some other Carribean destinations Cons: None if you avoid the all-inclusive places
Our trip to St. Lucia was awesome. The best way to experience St. Lucia is to avoid the all-inclusive scams, stay someplace nice, and rent a car. Most of the hotels are on the northern part of the island (we stayed at Rodney bay), but most of the...
Pros: Beach water so clear you can watch the fish swarm around your feet. Cons: Money gets tight if you don't plan ahead.

Pros: beautiful surroundings, friendly helpful staff Cons: I wasn't there long enough
What can I say? I had the time of my life at Sandals! My ex-boyfriend won a trip there in a company sales contest. The trip was only for a weekend, but was the best weekend trip I've ever taken. It was very romantic even though we were there with...
Pros: Gorgeous scenery, the Pitons, snorkel/scuba Cons: food is good, but not great
We did a lot of research before we chose Jalousie, and we are very glad we did!! It was recently taken over by Hilton and got a bit of a face-lift before we got there...it is beautiful.
Jalousie is near Soufriere, so there are other places to go...
Pros: Some great restaurants Cons: So-so activities
My wife and I just got back from our 5 day vacation in St. Lucia. (November 17-21, 2000)
Instead of going the all-inclusive route, we decided to stay at a small hotel and explore the island on our own. I think that doing so gave us a better feel...
Pros: Some of the most outgoing people in the Caribbean Cons: the new phase will turn this into a "mega resort"
Sandals Halcyon in St. Lucia, our first and still our absolute favorite resort in the Caribbean. It's been 5 years since I've been there, I got engaged there, and I will be spending my 5th anniversary there in November 2000. In five years I have been...
Pros: Great relaxing island. Cons: Not, the place for evening events.
One of my favorite ports of call for Diving and visiting while working as a diver for Norwegian Cruise Line was St. Lucia. In-fact I was reprimanded on more than one occasion for pushing that trip on the customers more than any others. I would say,...

Pros: Sun, clear blue water, whatever you wanted to do Cons: by a small airport

Pros: Service, location of hotel. Cons: Distance from airport.
We went to St. Lucia for our 25th Anniversary in November. We chose Sandals because it was a couples only resort. There are 3 Sandals in St. Lucia, and after some research, we settled on the Grande because it was the newest and biggest. I am pleased to ...
Pros: Scenery, People, Food, Cons: Not that I can recall

Pros: Beautiful island with dramatic and breathtaking views and vistas Cons: The rainy season is not a good time to travel! Sandal's Resort was deceiving.

I, unfortunately, spent my honeymoon this last June at Sandals St. Lucia. We were truly excited about the trip and were expecting the very best, since the cost was fairly high and we heard good things about Sandals.
Pros: Safe Island, buetiful beaches Cons: Just like Jamaica

Pros: Incredible view, great snorkeling, the perfect get-away spot Cons: Not for those who want a lot of convienence and night life

Pros: Beautiful beaches, flowers and fruit trees abundant, very friendly people, great resorts Cons: Expensive, not a lot to do. Castries not a place to visit
I just got back from St. Lucia (July 13 to 20th). This is supposedly the rainy season but didn't see a drop of rain. We stayed at the St. Lucia Hilton. A secluded resort nestled between the Pitons. Of the resorts I have been this is by far the most...
I went here- I wanna go back, its BEAUTIFUL, never rains (if you saw my review on St. Thomas- DON'T GO!) Its nice, its fun, its cool, breezy, windy, just- nice. I met alot of people, sat on the beach, small, but nice, saw lizards, hung at the jaccuzi,...
Pros: climate, people, food, atmosphere Cons: travel to and from the island could be better, need more flights.
There should be a required minimum stay when you visit St. Lucia. Our 4 nights were not nearly enough time. The people are warm and friendly and most accommodating. The weather was wonderful, the food is flavorful, the countryside lush and green, and the water drinkable and safe! My search for an all inclusive resort led me to the St. Jame's Club. The amenities are perfect for both the family and the romantic customers. We had a wonderful time, and we can't wait to return, both to the wonderful Island of St. Lucia and to the St. Jame's Club resort.
Pros: Gorgeous scenery and water vistas Cons: Locals only want your money; difficult to navigate the island; ridiculous fees & charges
My husband and I went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon in Dec 02 and were disappointed with the overall value of the experience. We stayed @ Ladera Resort which was breathtaking yet short on amenities. Since the resort is so remote (2 hour drive from airport)you are almost forced to rent a car to get a feel for the island and it's people. This is pricey and full of dangers as the locals are such con-artists who rely on tourism dollars for anything and everything.
When leaving the island, no one informed us of the 'exit' fee that must be paid before they will let you board your flight; it must be cash and only in their currency- so save your EC dollars in anticipation of this ridiculous fee that is designed to extract more cash from you!
Sandals St Lucia Golf Resort by pixie05 ,Dec 26 '05
Pros: The island Cons: Room hassle
This was our long awaited second honeymoon... We thoroughly enjoyed the island of St Lucia. When we arrived at the Sandals resort, our room wasn't ready. Then it was determined that someone else was in it so we were given a room by the pool--very noisy, well into the wee hours of the morning. After three days, we were moved to the room that we originally reserved. It was wonderful and the rest of our trip was perfect.

Pros: Nice People, Beautiful Island Cons: Humidity and Windjammer Landing Villas
I deleted the review under this category. I'm actually going to give St. Lucia 4 stars as we did really like the island and the people were so nice. We took a boat ride over to the Volcano and stopped and had lunch in a town on the coast (Soufrie?), and that was really enjoyable. If you want to see the review that was here, I believe you can find it under Windjammer.
Stonefield Estate Villas by francesca1952 ,Jan 07 '04
Pros: Relaxing, beautiful setting, great food, friendly. Cons: Be prepared for mosquitos in the evenings.
Our Staying at Stonefield was like living in paradise. The staff was so friendly and met our every need no matter what that may be. The food was delicious and everything tasted fresh - and the restaurant setting was peaceful, cool and with wonderful views. My favorite was the outdoor shower at our villa - just delightful. The rooms are decorated to match it's natural environment and were very spacious. I can't wait to go back to Stonefield - we checked out the larger villas hoping to also go with extended family.
