Pros: Wonderful atmosphere; wealth of things to see and do; culture and fun ahoy ! Cons: Weather can be very cold from November through to spring
I went to Vienna a few weeks ago and spent a week there with some friends who showed me some local bars and made me promise not to tell anyone about them so they arent spoiled.
I can honestly say that it is one of the nicest cities I have ever...

Pros: An opulent marvel Cons: None
The interior decor of this palace is richer than a Sacher torte. Rococo gilded swirls on the walls, crystal chandeliers, immense paintings, Gobelin tapestries and rosewood paneling. The stories of the palace's inhabitants are even richer. Empires won...

Pros: Music, parks, architecture and museums, food, coffee houses, numerous summer music and movie festivals Cons: Opera season doesn't start till September.
I love Vienna! It is absolutely beautiful. And, of all the places that I have been to, it is my favorite city. There are four things that stand out in the list of many reasons why I love Vienna.
1) Music--it is everywhere--Beethoven, Brahms,...

Pros: The Charm of Eastern Europe... Cons: ...at the Price of Western Europe
Vienna is like a warm cup of coffee on a cool Sunday morning.
When you talk about cities with character, it is hard not to think of Vienna. With it’s myriad of architectural styles and a robust cultural atmosphere, the city on the Danube...

Pros: An architectural marvel with lots of history attached Cons: Can be crowded, only partly accessible for disabled visitors
One of the many highlights in Vienna is Schloss Schönbrunn (open 8:30-17:00, to 16:30 November-March, to 19:00 in July and August; prices vary depending on what you want to see, a medium package about $20).
The location was already in use in...

Pros: Beautiful scenery Cons: The jet lag when you get back to the states
My tour of Salzburg and Vienna was during the most beautiful time of the year, winter. I went with a group of students from my high school choir. We visited Mozart's birthplace, the many cathedrals and the graveyard where so many great composers are...

Pros: BEAUTIFUL, easy to get around, not expensive Cons: not the most friendly place, restaurants & bars close early
To get straight to the point, Vienna is absolutely beautiful and is well worth visiting, but don't linger. If you're like me and enjoy visiting a place to see more than just the touristy sites, and really enjoy meeting the 'natives' (oh, the Vienners...

Pros: Atmosphere, great coffee, great desserts Cons: Can be expensive ($8-10 for coffee and pastry)
I am one of those people who cannot face the world without two cups of coffee. Vienna, with a cafe on every corner, is my kind of city. After studying there for a semester, I became almost an expert on cafes in the city (multiply four months times...

Pros: read on... Cons: Not for those who like the easy, travel book vacation. This is a city that requires exploration and interest.
Before I begin this review, I should say I am a bit biased. My trip to Vienna was so astronomically fantastic that I don't think I'd ever be able to look at the city in a negative way. That said: I had to go to Vienna. It had been a big dream since I was...

Pros: People, Food, Drink, Cafes. Bizi Pizza, Small Streets Cons: If you go during tourist season, you will understand why some Viennease do not like foreigners.
I have got to tell you about my experience in Vienna, Austria!!! When I arrived in Vienna for an extended (8 months) stay I was buzzing with energy and full of curiosity. What did this city have to offer me, a young professional who never really...

Pros: Royal Tour is better value Cons: Vienna Sight Seeing Tour over priced, not professional
We went to Budapest with Vienna Sight Seeing Tour (http://www.viennasightseeingt

and to Prague with Royal Tour. We were very disappointed with Vienna Sight-Seeing Tour. There were only 7 of us in the tour. The tour was actually done by Euro ...

Pros: Great museums, plenty of gelato. Cons: Significant travel time from core European countries. Smokey cafes.
Vienna is described in many travel books as 'the Easternmost of the Western European countries...' I think this is actually a pretty fair description. My wife and I spent three nights there, toured several museums, and enjoying local restaurants.

Pros: Upscale/civilized, Viennese Coffee and desserts, classical music. Cons: expensive, very cold in the winter
As a student, Vienna is definitely a place that one must watch his wallet. Thankfully, there were numerous ways of keeping expenditures somewhat reasonable. As I said earlier, Vienna is a place that can go either way for the typical American student...

Pros: Fabulous Architecture, Museums, and Shopping Cons: Not a budget destination. Austrian food gets repetitive.
Since it's my second-favorite Capital in Europe, I'm of the opinion that Vienna is one of the "Great European Cities."
I've been there twice - once in 1993 as part of a EuroRail/Youth Hostel trip around Europe, once once in 2001 on a family...
