Pros: Clean city with nice people Cons: none
Vienna is one of the nicest cities you will ever visit. It is clean, the people are nice, and there is an overall sophisticated feeling throughout the city. We stayed at the Vienna Hilton AM Stadtpark. We had two rooms each costing about $150.00 per...

Pros: Lots of commercial areas, cappucinos, deserts Cons: It's a city with lots of shops
I travelled to a handful of European cities last April (00) with a student group from my high school. We visited Prague, Vienna, Salzburg and Venice. While we only had a few days to see the sites of each of these cities, I didn't feel that I saw very...

Pros: Absolutely magnificent city Cons: A little more expensive than home
I'm currently a study-abroad student at the University of Vienna through an enchange program at my home university, and I have loved Vienna ever since the day I got off the plane. There is so much history here, and so much to do, that I can't get enough...

Pros: Safe, Fanciful and Fun Cons: expensive
Vienna and its neighboring townships are some of the kindest, brightest regions in Western Europe. The streets of 'Wien', as it is called in German, are clean, populated and very quaint. There is am old-world charm about the place that reminds me of...

Pros: The only guide to Vienna you need. Cons: rather heavy to tote around
Before my first trip to Austria I read every guidebook to Vienna
available in English, and I took several of them along with me.
After repeating this experience again on a subsequent trip, I feel I
have a good grasp on how useful the...

Pros: n enjoyable large city Cons: can't go enough
Vienna is another of those 'must see' places in your education of travel.
It is a beautiful city with its' architecture dating back to the days when the Hapsburgs ruled the area.
In fact, you can start your journey at their palace, the...

Pros: Wonderful for an opera and architecture lover! Cons: Not for the un-musical.
This review does not recommend this city, only because it is often touted as a great vacation spot for people of all tempraments and interests. It' not. It's actually more along the lines of a music lover and culture addict that this city appeals to....

Pros: Fascinating Cons: ??
Being a notorious traveller I love getting out and about. Vienna has clearly been one of the highlights so far. I lived in Austria most of my life but now, living abroad for about 3/4 of the year I realize how wonderful Vienna is compared to cities I...

Pros: some good sites Cons: too much like other cities, especially other Austrian ones
Don't get me wrong, Vienna is a gigantic city, and a nice one at that. But unless you are a classical music lover or clock museum patron it is not necessarily anything special. I may have come away with this impression because I have arrived from...

Pros: Lots of old world culture Cons: Can be a bit stale
See an opera in Mozart's city for anywhere from $10 to 200. I have enjoyed a number of cultural experiences in Vienna, but they have opera down pat. If you don't mind sitting/standing in line for a few hours, you can get a Stehplatz (Standing place) for...

Good 4 families
by kendall44 ,Dec 02 '06
Pros: Rococo/Baroque galore. Carriage horses, roasted chestnuts, hot mulled wine (Gluehwein) Cons: a little staid for some
We were apprehensive at first about taking our 4-under-4-year-olds to such a sophisticated city, but it exceeded expectations.
Pluses: walkability; parks, plazas, pedestrian-only streets, it's continential-ness, streetcars/trains/subways everywhere & very bilingual English/German.
Our days there involved a lot of outdoor sightseeing, just walking around gawking at the rococo, baroque architecture. The Belvedere & Lipizzaners were big thumbs up w/our group. Shopping for food at the fabulous Julius Meinl market, another plus.
Every evening we parents would do our trade-off/tag-team jogging routine --1 stays w/the kids, 1 goes for an hr. run along the city's main canal/river. Relaxing & scenic -& a great running course.
I'd also throw in that a side trip to Bratislava (1hr train ride) was well worth it. Only wish we had time to do Budapest too (2hr train ride).
