Pros: It is great, beautiful, unforgettable. Cons: It is very big, there are a lot of halls.
Louver, is situate at the King's Palace. After opening of the new halls it became the biggest one. There are nearly 25000 masterpieces of arts. Louver is consists from three parts, as "Ď". Each part has four levels. There are eight departments: Ancient...
Pros: Great collection, classic tourist site Cons: None
Before I visited Paris, I was surprised to read that the Louvre was often avoided by tourists who found it crowded and difficult to find the Mona Lisa. I visited nonetheless, and while it did take a while to get into the museum, inside it completely...
Pros: World's best art collection, hands down Cons: WAY too big to navigate without a plan
The Louvre is one of those places that you can't get out of Paris without visiting. It would be like going to NY without seeing the Statue of Liberty or London without visiting Westminster Abbey. Maybe that's way throngs of people who care or know...
I have only visited the Louvre once, but was very prepared through word-of-mouth what I was about to experience. My wife and I travelled to Paris in August with the full understanding that we were in the middle of the European tourist season; and as...
Pros: Great for wheelchairs Cons: Layout rather confusing
I took my mother to the Louvre with a wheelchair, and was amazed at how accessible it was. The first bonus is that it is FREE for the person in the wheelchair and the person pushing it. We then had to wait for the lift to arrive to take us downstairs - a...
Pros: It's the Louvre! Mona Lisa, Venus De Milo, everything is fabulous! Cons: The restaurant
The day we went to the Louvre, the museum workers were on strike, so we did not have to purchase tickets, and the lines were moving at warp speed. The most unusual thing about it was all the people using flash photography in there, even at the Mona Lisa, ...
Pros: hmmmm..... Cons: too big and too many people!
Okay, so all of my opinions so far have been positive, so I decided that I should write at least one negative one to increase my credibility level. So, I was browsing the categories when BANG!!! a huge wave of ick rushed through me. THE LOUVRE!! Don't...
Pros: MAYBE useful for the timid, several lesser museums or in high season. Cons: Largely unnecessary and a poor value.
Contrary to several reviewers' opinions, my fiancee and I found the Paris Museum Pass unnecessary and a waste of money, particularly the one-day version. Planning to visit Paris for 3 days in May, 2003, we became nervous from some reviewers' remarks ...
As a self-proclaimed cynic, I embarked on our family European vacation with much skepticism. The epitome of my cynicism was displayed in my view of the Louvre Museum. Mona Lisa behind plate glass?! Ugh. Or so I thought. This Museum is every bit as...
Pros: great architecture, art, artifacts books Cons: a little expensive
If you love the works of IM Pei... youll love Musee du Louvre! one of the most fascinating architecture that keeps one of the most admired art the Mona Lisa. This pyramid architecture is one of the most amazing and extra ordinary architecture in the...
Feeling like you are ticking off an essential site on any tourist's Parisian visit.
Cons: Not being able to see as much as you would want.
The Louvre is big, very big, so it's possible to see some stunning works of art without being hemmed in by crowds. The whole experience of walking down the Parisian boulavards, watching the glass pyramid grow closer, creates a sense of excited expectation you'll need to get you round the vast and numerous halls.
I don't know much about art, and usually going to a place like this would leave me feeling intimidated and anxious to get out. Not so the Louvre, which buzzed with the energy you would expect to encounter at such a well-known tourist hotspot.
With hindsight, I would avoid trying to see the Mona Lisa. It's not very big, and by the time I pushed through the throng of spatially-unaware tourists, I wasn't in any mood to appreciate it. I loved some of the cavernous halls containing giant marble statues. Plan what you want to see, get there early and leave knowing you've barely scratched the surface.
