Pros: Relaxing, interesting trip. Cons: May be difficult for some people to walk in the mountainous terrain.
On our way out of Rome on the bus, we saw an angry woman beating up a man on the side of the road. She was so angry, and really pounding on him! Hadriana Villa was in the country, and we went inside a building to see a layout of the estate first....

Pros: Much to do/rich in history Cons: Too much for only a few days
Rome is one of the most fascinating cities in the world. With it’s rich history you literally stand where Emperors and Popes once stood. Standing in the Colosseum you can almost hear the cries of those once martyred and the jubilant screams of...

Pros: Beautiful, amazing structures, friendly Cons: a little crowded
I traveled to 5 countries and many more cities while on a month long excursion of Europe in the Winter of '99, and Rome, my final stop, proved to be the best time of them all. Through it's unbeatable history and architecture, it's truly an original that...

Pros: Spanish Steps location Cons: $200-$300 but worth it.
I have travelled extensively throughout Italy, seen hundreds of cities and towns and villages, and yet when I think of Italy...images of Rome are the first to appear.
A very powerful city, filled with the excitement of ancient history, awesome art,...

Pros: Historical Monuments Cons: Language Barrier
Rome is a very interesting city, it is actually hosting an entire country within itself. I had personally visited this city several times, all because of the atmosphere and the feelings that appealed so much to my heart.
A good resting place,...

[The explorer in me]
I spent the better part of a day walking the streets of Rome, and I never ran out of interesting things to look at. The faces are varied, the conversations lively (if unintelligible to...

Pros: beautiful, interesting, fun Cons: I can't live there (yet)
I've been to Rome several times, for different reasons: business, pleasure (even a honeymoon!) and I can't get enough of "The Eternal City". From its rural outskirts to the madding craze of its city drivers, each aspect is compelling,...

Pros: Surreal in it's ancient/modern mix Cons: too much cigarette smoke
While I was in Italy I didn't appreciate Rome as much as I do when I look back on my visit. Being very sensitive to cigarette smoke was not to my advantage when taking to the streets of the bustling city. However, I will never forget walking down a...

Pros: Faster transport, Cools you down (you'll need it!) Cons: Finding a gas station
I'm completely serious. If you ever get the chance to go to this beautiful city you should consider plopping down 30-40 bucks and travel in style. No more hot dredges through the musty (and especially humid, if you go in the summer months) walkways of...

Pros: Everything Cons: traffic, and I hear there are way too many starlings in the fall
Rome is a surreal place that everyone should experience. We were there for a few days on our honeymoon. Needless to say, a few days are not nearly enough to fully experience the vast expanse of history presented there -- the history of man, of art, of...

Pros: great location, very reasonable prices, beautiful Cons: none
Amidst the hustle and bustle that is the eternal city of Rome lies a quiet respite from the madness called Hotel San Anselmo. This gem is exceptionally well located and brings to mind what a true eternal hotel should be. Grace, beauty, and charm ~ all...

Pros: almost too much to see! Cons: crowded
When I visited Rome, it was Easter weekend. I arrived the evening of Maundy Thursday and left the afternoon of Easter Sunday. Could there be a crazier time in Rome? I can honestly say that probably not.
Given the time of year, finding a...

Pros: amazing food, and culture Cons: Rome is very crowded
Last year I took a trip to Rome. Its an amazing city, and has such a large historical background. Make sure to see the Aqua ducts, colluseum, forums, and other roman monuments. Even though I am not Christian, I recommend a trip to Vatican city. It is...

Pros: The city is easier to get around, and safer Cons: Risk of theft is high
The time to go to Italy, and especially Rome is now. The city has been cleaned up, it's tourist information, while still not the best in the world, is accessible, and public transport around Rome has never been easier. The government has poured money...
