Pros: interesting Cons: none
Rome is magnificent. It has history that dates back all the way to 80 AD. That is hard to grasp but it holds so much history. When I went their we saw the Forum and the Colesseum. THe were huge roman ruins that have been there for thousands of years....

Pros: Attractions, food, people Cons: Not as easy to get around as other major European cities, Mopeds are irritating, The main airport is a ways away by train
Rome is a wonderful vacation. My wife and I visited Rome for four days in September, 1998. After the four days, we concluded it was not enough time. Although Rome is not a vacation of relaxation, and at times the temperature got extremely uncomfortable...

Pros: Rich with history!! Excellent place to visit, food was great! Cons: Odd open for business hours, including major tourist areas
Italy is a great place to visit, and one country we definitely will see again (and maybe again). Rome should be one of your stops if you go this wonderful country!
When you walk around the city, you can't help but have a feeling that great...

Pros: Rome is beautiful, the people are beautiful, the food is beautiful Cons: Be careful with your money. Gypsies and some Italians are on the lookout for careless tourists.
If there there is only one city to you can visit in Italy, make it Rome. Italy has many beautiful cities, but Rome is definitely a must see. I would recommend at least four days to see all the major sights. If you have more time then all the better to...

Pros: Beautiful, more ancient architecture than most big cities, good free nightlife for students. Cons: Can be very touristy in peak seasons and very hot in the summer.
I love Rome! Every time a vacation comes up in conversation I suggest Rome. I can't wait to go back myself.
There are many gorgeous sites that you should go see when in Rome, but most of them you can learn all about in your average...

Pros: A wonderful place to see. Cons: None really that I can think of.
Rome is definitely a city that you don't want to miss. The Colussium especially will draw anyone's attention. The thought of the long lost gladiators, the lions, and the poor victims of the ancient Roman times lends a fanciful aspect to all Rome....

Pros: comfort & location Cons: crowds- at certain times of year and especially this jubilee year
The D'Inghilterra Hotel on Via Boca di Leone in the Spanish Steps area of Rome is a fine place to use as home base for exploring this ancient and modern city. I first stayed in the D'Inghilterra in 1962, where I saw my first bidet, my first open cage...

Pros: Easy to find Cons: Not well-known to tourists
On the way to the Coliseum, looming large and imposing, we were delayed by discovering the Basilica of Cosmos and Damian. Inside, we found a chapel with a beautiful ceramic ceiling, depicting priests and nuns and sheep, which you could see better by...

Pros: Most unusual sight Cons: It might turn your stomach a notch!
On Via Veneto there is a church with many steps curving up to the door, where you'd see a small sign saying, CEMETERIUM with an arrow. We entered and found a monk or priest wearing a brown hooded gown, attending a small book shop with postcards, and...

Pros: Delicious food, great views Cons: We maybe drank too much
Sibilla Restaurant is a very precious find, built in 1730, and tucked away at the end of a very steep, narrow street, overlooking a gorge, a waterfall, and other hotels with outdoor patios. It is in the little village of Tivoli, just outside Rome. The...

Pros: So much history to see. Amazing sights. Cons: Safety concerns for women travelers.
I went to Rome with a couple friends on a backpacking trip over Christmas 2000. We were there for Midnight Mass and couldn't have been more excited over the experience - despite the rain! We stayed for 4 days, and could have easily stayed longer. The ...
