Luxembourg. Battles and Brothels. Not as exciting as you’d think.

by travelgall Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jul 20 '06
Pros: Pretty in places. Some great history, food not bad.
Cons: Fairly dull, worth a weekend tops. Sleazy in places
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!" In celebration of epinions rather foolishly upgrading me to a “Top Reviewer” I thought I’d write something intellectually stimulating and polite about one of my most recent ...

Luxembourg's Old City is delightful.

by mayhewga , Aug 06 '02
Pros: This is how I imagined Europe would be like.
Cons: None
As part of our 4 week holiday in France this year, we made a last minute decision to jump on a train from Metz in Northern France for the 20-minute journey to Luxembourg. We are very glad we did!

As we hadn't planned this excursion, we knew...

Luxembourg, Land of contradiction

by lordlucan , Jun 13 '01
Pros: A countryside of rolling green hills and enchanting castles
Cons: The natives are not always friendly !
My knowledge of Luxembourg is pretty extensive having hid out there for a number of years. However, it is one of the least known countries in Europe, but still earns a very good percentage of its national income from tourism. One note to start with...

Luxembourg: We've got your money, so be nice to us

by dkueter , Nov 02 '99
Pros: It's not Germany, France and, most importantly, not Holland
Cons: Hard to get to, a bit pricey, not great weather
Like most of Europe, Luxembourg is "charming", "quaint" and "nestled". Who cares. You want current, useful info on destinations, not the usual rubbish from Baedeker or Insight Guides. I can tell you what to do in Luxembourg. If you want to know about...

Luxembourg Mini Guide

by Ma3310 , Mar 25 '00
Pros: Great place to learn about history
Cons: none
Occupying just 2,585 square kilometers (998 square miles), Luxembourg lies between France, Germany and Belgium. It's history has been influenced by its larger neighbors, which variously annexed the territory. Independence was achieved in 1867 when they...

Military buffs must visit here.

by beerbuff , Mar 04 '00
Pros: Central location to other areas
Cons: Not much to do or see
Military buffs must visit the American cemetery located in Luxembourg city. One of Americas most famous generals is buried there. Ol Blood and Guts himself, General George Patton. The cemetery is well marked and easy to get to via taxi or a car.

Luxembourg City

by ariana , Oct 12 '99
Pros: Gorgeous architecture
Cons: A little expensive
If you're on a tight schedule and you're doing the horrible "It's Tuesday So It Must Be France" kind of tour across Europe, skip Luxembourg. Visit Belgium instead.

If, however, you're hell-bent on seeing Luxembourg, particularly...

The lesser known paradise in Europe

by misfitgrrl , Feb 27 '02
Pros: BEAUTIFUL countrieside & architecture!
Cons: We had to leave way to soon
I can't begin to describe how wonderful my trip to Luxembourg City was! I've always heared that the people there aren't very friendly, but I beg to differ. Everyone we met was extremly courteous and helpful.
The Architecture was wonderful! My...
