Pros: Better value for rate conscious traveller Cons: Rooms are small, and services more limited
In addition to my Epinion about four and five star hotels, let's take a look at some hotel that are normally a little less hard on the budget, yet still comfortable enough to ensure you'll have a good stay in Amsterdam.
Golden Tulip is a Dutch...

Pros: beautiful historic areas and most modern soccer stadium Cons: crime, sex, drugs, rude people
Review Topic: Overview
Well I am in Amsterdam each year at least once. Most of the time only to see the American Football game of the NFL Europe between the Frankfurt Galaxy (my favorite team) and the Amsterdam Admirals. They...

Pros: Comfortable rooms, good service Cons: Sometimes a bit pricey, not in the very center of the city
I stayed at the Hilton Amsterdam for two nights last weekend. The Hilton website (www.hilton.com) offered a low rate of about NLG 225 per weekend night, including a buffet breakfast - pretty cheap for Amsterdam!
The Hilton was the first...

Pros: The Dutch have elevated marijuana cultivation to an art and science Cons: Unprepared Americans getting their minds blown and making fools of themselves
How many times are we going to hear the story of the lightweight American going to Amsterdam and freaking out after a few puffs of Super Silver Haze, or claiming that their space cake was "laced"?
Marijuana CAN be highly...

Pros: Incredibly efficient transportation; compact size; variety of attractions Cons: Shops have erratic closing schedules
No matter what your traveling interest, the Dutch people are perhaps the most hospitable, precise, and light -spirited.
In Amsterdam, my place of visit on two separate occasions, everything is within comfortable walking distance and has a...

Pros: Too many to mention Cons: None really except possibly the unpredictable northern european weather
Review Topic: Sights & Attractions
I have been to Amsterdam a few times now and never fail to feel at home there. Ever since my first visit 4 years ago I felt that it would be one of the few places in the world I would...

Pros: Different and full of things to do Cons: It rained and some things were expensive
It was November 20th and my friends and I had just rented an A-class Mercedes-Benz in Paris France. (Take it from me; Paris is one place you do not want to drive.) We were on our way north to Amsterdam, the smallest city everybody knows about. We had no...

Pros: Wonderful people, subtle charm & great public transportation Cons: Heavy street traffic and bikers
I have traveled in the Netherlands on three separate occasions and every trip confirms my love for this country. For such a small country, the Netherlands provides great city life as well as beautiful country landscapes perfect for bicycling trips and...

Pros: cheap, casual, large portions Cons: slow service, "non smokers? what are they?"
As any tourist guide will tell you, traditional Dutch food is not something to look forward to. In fact, so many Dutch dishes seem to be based on leftovers it makes you wonder what these are left over from.
The Dutch are also suckers for fast...

Pros: Lots of local flavor to explore Cons: Flavor can be expensive
My travel philosophy is to not just "visit" each place I go to but to actually live as a local - even if my stay is only for the evening. No doubt you could make yourself a nice little vacation by going to Amsterdam to visit the Van Gogh...

Pros: experiences you will never forget, unless you've had to much to smoke. Cons: I reccommend not volunteering at a live sex show.
I visited Amsterdam in January of 98 by way of ferry from Dover England. Although we only stayed three days, we made the most of it. It was the Red Light district where I became somewhat famous, well at least for an evening. While walking down...

Pros: highest concentration of sites in the world Cons: crowded
I found Amsterdam to be just about everything (good and bad). From walking down Dam straight (yeah i like that name) to the museums. I saw everything from the people that visited and never found their way out again laying on the sidewalk begging for...

Pros: Beautiful scenery, water and lakes. Old and beautiful architecture, great public transportation Cons: Boring, expensive, not too friendly and poor quality of food, poor night life
If you are looking for a Rome, a London or a Paris in Amsterdam, you obviously will be disappointed. But if you are looking for a clean, quiet and medium size city, then yes, Amsterdam is your kinda city. My overnight flight from Minneapolis arrived ...

Pros: Friendly Locals, Tourist friendly, Gorgeous city Cons: Red Light District... Overstated!
Day and Night, we were able to capture the beauty of this city. There were canals everywhere we looked. Bicycles seemed to be a key source of transportation. People actually hitchiked by bicycle. One thing that fascinated us was that many of...
