Pros: Beautiful city, inexpensive, great for walking Cons: everything closes early. cold. winter hours start in November. :(
As I write this I'm on day three of a four day trek to Krakow from my Polish residence in Kedzierzyn-Kozle. The train trip from home took about 3 hours. Not bad at all. The train that goes to Krakow through my home begins in Gdansk and goes through all...

Pros: Remarkable old city, great "base" for day trips elsewhere in Poland. Cons: The pollution, cold winters, sludge.
It was a dark and stormy night... well, not that stormy really, but it was dark enough to make up for the lack of storminess. Twenty six weary Finns plus luggage were drudging through the snow on the streets of Kraków. The snow had melted...

Pros: A small city with lots of interesting places, full of life and very beautiful. Cheap Cons: Very crowded at weekends with some loud parties
I couldn't think up a fun original title for this piece, but think the above sums up how I found Krakow and the trips we did from here. We booked from the UK via Expedia (Internet) for a 3 night short stay, which included flights, B & B hotel and 2 ...

Pros: The most beautiful city I have ever visited; historic, cultured, eclectic Cons: It's not a disadvantage but there is just so much to cram in !
When I was a child a close family friend visited Krakow several times for work and brought back lots of photographs including some of the Rynek Glowny - Krakow's strikingly beautiful market square. I was instantly enchanted and resolved that one day I ...

Pros: beautiful, historical, inexpensive Cons: none
Review Topic: Overview
OK, so I admit that Poland probably isn't the first country you think about when it's time to plan a trip to Europe, but maybe it should be.
I had the pleasure of spending one week of my three...

Pros: Great shopping, cool history spot, unforgettable views, no private cars on square, you can buy the police off Cons: takes time for people to warm up to you, cold winter, no cars allowed on square
I originally visited Krakow as a tourist. Since then I have come to travel to the city for business. I fell in love with the Rynek Glowny almost immediately. It is the largest square in europe, 200 meters by 200 meters. Whenever I visit the city a...

Pros: Very old buildings, well restored, very friendly people Cons: There aren't enough hours in a day
Krakow is an enchanting city with beautiful sites, very friendly people, incredibly good food, and many charming legends. On the southern side of the old city there is a limestone hill rising above the River Vistula on which stands the beautiful ancient...

Pros: Beautiful city, extremely cheap, home base for Auschwitz and salt mines Cons: few people speak English (except in the tourist areas)
When you collide the money and the city's worth, I believe that Krakow is the best bargain in Europe. Krakow is beautiful and amazingly cheap. It's getting more and more discovered by tourists, but when I was in Krakow in the August of '99, most of the...

Pros: Relatively inexpensive, Old Town is a great place to sit down, eat, and relax. Cons: Have to pay for water. Waiters and Waitresses can seen sarcastic or rude.
My wife and I's recent excursion to Europe brought us to Poland and some of the various cities and towns therein. Krakow was one of our most enjoyable stops. The City At one time serving as the capital of Poland, Krakow is steeped in history and ...

Pros: Architecture, Ambiance, Food, Inexpensive Cons: Cold in Winter and Fall
If you have a week to spare and want to see two great cities that are not overrun with tourists and not totally McDonaldized, fly into Krakow and out of Warsaw, or just take a short train ride between the two. If you're in the New York area there are...

Pros: A beautiful, historical city one can see on the cheap Cons: Some ugly anti-Semitic undercurrents
At first, Krakow seemed like the dream stop on our Eastern European vacation. It's a beautiful, old city surrounded by beautiful countryside; it's dirt cheap; the food is good & plentiful (did I mention dirt cheap?)
While the churches seem...

Pros: A historic place where I could relax Cons: Be careful! There are many pocket thieves.
Review Topic: Sights & Attractions
The whole city produced the most favorable impression on me. But Stare Miasto was certainly the best of it. My acquaintance with the place began in the Planty Park that is surrounding the...

Pros: Undiscovered gem of a city Cons: Pigeons
This is the city of the Pope and Lenin and could not provide a more interesting backdrop for both. The Pope is evident everywhere, Lenin is hard to find since the fall of the Berlin Wall. The Lenin museum still exists (I heard), but I could not even...

Pros: Cheap prices, interesting history, beautiful old town Cons: Weather can be bad, watch out for English men on stag weekends
Any visitor to Poland must try the local vodka, Zubrowski, with apple juice. It warms you up, and it also gets you ready to party in the nightclubs hidden in Krakow's historic streets. And the price is so right... alcohol, food and accomodation in ...

Pros: Beautiful Old World Charm Cons: Not too pretty when it's raining
I went to Krakow in September 1998. The weather was awful while I was there, but that didn't really bother me since I got around in a car.
Old Town is very beautiful in Krakow, but I would recommend to not buy anything on the weekends in the...
