Akko - for History and the View
by abbie007a ,Oct 31 '05
Pros: Ancient city, best hoummos in Israel, great view Cons: Not much to do there
If you are in Israel, you must go to Akko, at least for a half day or so. Walking around this interesting mainly Muslim and Christian City, eat the best hoummus in Israel and all the baklava you can think about. The real interesting thing is that it is within Israel on the coast, north of Haifa and south of Rosh HaNikra, Akko doesn't have a lot to see, however it is a nice day or half-day trip.
Located right on the Mediterranean Sea you can walk around the old city and see many preserved buildings and mosques which are still used.
The same day, you can visit Haifa or other places in northern Israel. Akko is definitely worth a stop.
