Pros: Life doesn't get any better than this Cons: none
The famous Gunbarrel Highway from the central coast in Western Australia to the centre of the continent is rated as Central Australia’s most challenging Outback drive. That hasn’t deterred growing numbers of travellers from tackling the 900 mile sand and...

Pros: Lots to do & see. Good weather and very nice scenery. Cons: The most isolated city in the world.
Before I came to Perth in 1996 I used to live in Adelaide which even though is still part of Australia, is a very different city to Perth. We decided to move to Perth for family reasons but also because it was supposed to be a better...

Pros: Perth has a wide range of family restaurants Cons: None - you'll always find somewhere in your price range.
La Porchetta
La Porchetta is a franchise and therefore quality and service will depend on the managers and chefs but we have found both the Morley and Rockingham stores to be fantastic. Pricing is excellent and you'll feed a family of five for...

Pros: The lights from Kings Park. Breathtaking... Cons: I'm a long way from home and the occasional shark.
Perth. For the last ten years of my life, I have been working up to finally leaving home and living there. Or here as it would seem. I left home at the end of grade twelve and was accepted into Edith Cowan University, where I now live on campus...

Pros: Perth is a clean, pretty city with space, sunshine & a great outdoors lifestyle. Cons: Geographically isolated. Extremely hot in the mid to late summer months.
Perth is the capital city of Western Australia. People from Western Australia are known to other Aussies as Sandgropers. Why that is would be the subject for a seperate essay.
Perth is a long long way from any of the other major capital...

Pros: Wide range of delights Cons: Not enough time to try all :)
Review Topic: Restaurants
This review was inspired by Cassandra's review on her favorite restaurants in Perth. I was debating whether to add it to my 'Tales of a Sandgroper' saga, but I want to keep them as travel only. This...

Pros: Water sports, great food, fabulous beaches, and incredibly clean! Cons: Public transports system could be better.
What a lifestyle I lead!
I am sitting on my front verandah, overlooking the gloriously english-style gardens of Hyde Park. Spring has made the park glow with luscious greenery. The native ducks and their gorgeous babies are making quick...

Pros: friends people, clean city, always something new to see Cons: Had to leave, Flies are every where
I visited Perth in the fall of 1998, well really the middle of Aug through mid Sep. I spent a month there and at the end of the month was sorry I had to leave. It is so peaceful and scenery, well the only word I can place on the scenery is WOW!!! This is...

Pros: so much to do, nice people, not a big tourist trap Cons: the plane trip is VERY expensive
I had the extreme privilege of spending an entire month in Perth, Western Australia. My sister got married there to an Austalian, so I was given the grand tour of the great city. I am not exactly sure of the exact population of Perth, but it is a...

Pros: Capital of the Unexplored State Cons: Capital of the Unexplored State
Perth was the first destination of my eight month tour of Australia and, bar a few paragraphs in Bill Bryson's Down Under and a fairly clinical description in the Lonely Planet guidebook, almost a complete unknown to me. My imagination conjured up images...

Pros: Great adventures along coasts, small city is easy to explore. Cons: Flies are terrible in the summer months, sleepy atmosphere is not good for short trips.
Perth, Western Australia is a jewel on the Western Coast of Australia. This city of a million people tends to be overlooked by travelers who focus on the major cities and attractions on the eastern side of the continent. I spent six months here and...

Pros: not too Americanized, beauty, diversity of scenery Cons: Distance
If you want to visit Australia and have a true Aussie experience, don't get too comfy on the East Coast. Sydney and Melbounrne are great and charming in their own ways, but at some points of your experience there, you might as well be in San Francisco or...

Pros: Great scenery and wildlife to be seen at your own pace. Cons: Out of the way, so you need a lot of time to combine this with a trip to the rest of Australia.
Western Australia is a great place for nature enthusiasts and much overlooked by visitors to Australia. We spent about a week and a half starting at Perth and driving north to Cape Range National Park, then back to Perth. Some of the nature...
